Vera is the definition of a gentle soul. She carries a calm, steady presence and a softness that you feel the moment you meet her. While she may be shy at first, it’s simply because she’s still learning that the world can be kind. Give her a little time to settle in, and she blossoms into the easiest, sweetest girl. A more rural setting would be her dream — somewhere quiet where she can walk without too much commotion. She walks beautifully on leash in calm areas and absolutely loves being outside, soaking in the fresh air. She prefers dogs her own size and would truly benefit from having another steady, laid back dog in the home to help her continue building trust. She is ultimately submissive and very respectful with other dogs. Due to some prey drive, she is not suited for a home with small animals. Vera’s stunning white and silver coat, accented with soft gray ears and delicate spots, matches her personality — understated, elegant, and quietly beautiful. She is both house trained and crate trained, and she appreciates the security of her own quiet space to enjoy high value treats like special bones. Vera does prefer to eat alone so she doesn’t have to worry, and she thrives in a peaceful home environment.  She isn’t the loudest dog in the room. She won’t demand the spotlight. But for the person willing to give her patience and reassurance, Vera will give you something incredibly special: quiet loyalty, soft companionship, and a heart that chooses you every single day. Story
Incredibly Sweet little Bea was running around rural Georgia with her sidekick for several weeks after apparently being dumped. Everybody in the area said they were friendly, but no one knew them so they called animal control. The girls were very bonded at first, but we feel like their first love is people. They want to love people and be loved so badly but when they didn’t have any people, they became very attached to each other. Her sidekick has now found her forever home and it’s Miss Bea’s turn now. She’s exceptionally sweet and outgoing. She loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She also loves to snuggle on the couch. Bea is 22 pounds and between four and five years old. WE ARE ONLY GUESSING AT HER BREED! She does not really have a JRT temperament but she has the size and cute little short tail. She is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm tested negative. She appears to be a very healthy and happy girl. Gem is a four-year-old German Shorthair Pointer (GSP) with a zest for life and a loving nature. Like most GSPs, she’s full of energy and thrives in a home that can keep up with her active lifestyle. Whether it’s hiking, running, or exploring the great outdoors, Gem is ready to be your adventure buddy. After a day of activity, she loves nothing more than to settle down for some quality snuggle time with her favorite people. Her favorite thing, beyond anything else, is to be right by her person's side. Gem is well-mannered and has a solid foundation of basic training. She’s potty trained, walks well on a leash, and has reliable recall skills, making her a joy to take on outings. However, her hunting breed instincts are strong, and she has a high prey drive, so she requires a secure, tall, physically fenced yard (no electric fences or tie outs) to safely burn off her energy. Gem’s ideal home is a single-family home with plenty of space and a secure yard, as she needs room to run and play. She is not a good fit for renters or homes with restrictions on outdoor space. Due to her desire to chase, Gem is also not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. She lives in a foster home with six other dogs and gets along well with them, so she would love another canine companion, but would also do well as an only dog! While Gem is friendly and affectionate, she can get nervous in certain situations. For this reason, she would do best in a home with children aged 15 or older who can understand and respect her boundaries. She’s crate-trained and is most comfortable and will need to be crated when her family isn’t home, which helps her feel safe and secure. Gem is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, so she’s ready to transition smoothly into her new home. Her ideal family will not only appreciate her energetic and playful nature but also provide the structure and understanding she needs. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion and are willing to travel to Reading, PA, to meet her, Gem could be the perfect fit!
