Story
LOCATION: Reston, VA POSITION SOUGHT: Professional Fetch Partner & Full-Time BFF. CANDIDATE: Chip (Young, Athletic, Shy, and Silly). THE RESUME: Hi, my name is Chip! I am practically a pro athlete when it comes to fetch. While my "hand-delivery" skills are still in development, my dedication is unmatched. If you’re too busy to throw the ball, no problem—I’ll just drop toys down the stairs and play a solo game! THE PERSONALITY: I’m a bit of a "slow burn" when meeting new people and pups. I need a patient leader who respects my space while I muster up my courage. It might take a few introductions before I’m ready to commit, but once we’re bonded? We are BFFs for life. IDEAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Quiet & Private: A fenced yard is my happy place. I’m a homebody by nature, and while I’m learning to love "The Walk," I prefer quiet hikes or strolls over busy city streets. The "Mentor" System: Dog parks aren't my scene, but I’d love a confident canine sibling! Having a role model to show me that people are safe and walks are fun makes all the difference. Respectful Roommates: I love kids, but I’d do best with older ones who understand my boundaries. I give great hugs and "couch cuddles," but sometimes a guy just needs a little personal space. SPECIAL SKILLS: Genius Level Intellect: I’m potty trained and can ring bells to go out! I’m also currently studying the mystery of "Door Knobs"—I’m 90% sure they are the key to the outside world. Expert Napper: I’m a crate-training champ at night and a gold-medal sleeper during the day (as long as I’ve had my morning workout). Resource Management: I’m happy to share my toys, but if you give me a high-value treat (like a bully stick), I’ll take it to my "private office" until I’m finished. I might look like a scaredy-cat at first, but I’m just looking for the right person to help me become the ultimate co-pilot. Apply to meet me today!

Story
Meet Sundae Sundae is a beautiful, mature girl who is just about to turn 8 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. She has been a loved family dog her entire life and has been well cared for, including regular yearly veterinary checkups (most recently seen by the vet in June).Sundae is affectionate and enjoys being pet and loved, but she does have clear boundaries. She does not do well with rough handling or having her body messed with (ears, tail, etc.). Because of this, she is not a match for homes with babies or toddlers who are still learning how to interact with dogs. She has never shown aggression toward adults or older children who understand and respect a dog’s boundaries. A home with kids around 7 years old or older who can listen and interact appropriately would be just fine. She is friendly with people and has done well around strangers. Sundae has also been around cats, puppies, and small dogs and does well with them, though her ideal home would be one where she can soak up attention as the only pet.Sundae is house trained and was crate trained in the past, but has not used a crate in the last couple of years. She does not chew furniture or belongings. While she isn’t interested in dog toys, she enjoys treats and bones and is very easy in the home.On leash, Sundae generally does well, but she may get excited if she sees another dog or a squirrel. The ideal home for Sundae would be a calm, stable household—preferably an adult couple or individual—with no babies and no other pets, where she can receive plenty of love, attention, and consistency for the rest of her life. She would also do well in a home with respectful, dog-savvy older children.Sundae is currently still living in her home and is safely managed by being kept separate from a toddler. She is free-roaming when appropriate and will remain with her family until the right forever home is found. The goal is not to rush her placement, but to ensure she goes to someone who will truly love her and honor her needs for the rest of her life.Sundae deserves a home where she can finally relax, feel understood, and be cherished. Story
If interested in Clara, apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPAR/Dog At just 4 months old and 16 lbs, Clara is a gentle, soulful little Sato learning that the world can be a safe and cozy place. A Sato is a Puerto Rican street dog, and like many of them, Clara is taking everything in stride as she adjusts to life in a home. Clara is a calm, quiet girl who doesn’t bark and is happiest curled up in her bed or crate. She sleeps soundly through the night and keeps her crate clean, showing just how well mannered she already is. When new people come into the home, she quietly removes herself and settles in her crate, which seems to be her safe space. She may be a bit unsure at first, but she warms up quickly to her people and has already built a sweet bond with her foster family and their kids. Once she feels comfortable, Clara’s playful side starts to shine. She loves toys and will happily engage in little bursts of play between her many naps. She is learning the leash and is doing great, even letting kids help guide her on walks. Every now and then she gets a little burst of excitement and does some happy bouncing while on leash, which is as adorable as it sounds. Potty training is coming along nicely. She has started to show clear cues like pacing and crying when she needs to go out and tends to stick to one area in the yard. Like any puppy, she has had a few accidents, but she is learning quickly. Clara did well walking alongside another dog and would likely enjoy having a canine companion to help build her confidence and give her someone to play with. She would thrive in a patient home that allows her to continue coming out of her shell at her own pace. She is a special little girl with a calm, loving presence and so much potential to blossom into an incredibly devoted companion. Clara is being fostered in Pikesville, MD. PLEASE READ: Any dog that is house or potty trained will still need patience in a new home with new people and a new schedule. Please be ready to train ANY dog you adopt! Also, please understand we can not guarantee breed or full grown size of any young dog or puppy. Thank you for understanding.
