You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Major! This handsome pup made his way to us from Georgia, where he was saved from the euthanasia list. Now safe in Virginia, Major is under a year old and absolutely bursting with love, personality, and potential. Major is a striking dog with adorable black spots and an even more lovable disposition. He truly loves people, does great with kids, and thrives on human attention. He’s social, sweet, and happiest when he’s hanging out with his humans. Major is a smart boy who has already learned “sit” and is very food-motivated, which makes training engaging and rewarding. Like many young dogs, he’s still working on his house training and continues to make progress with consistency and routine. One thing to know about Major is that he can be food protective around other dogs. Because of this, he does best with separate feeding and treat time and thoughtful supervision when food is involved. With clear boundaries and structure, this is very manageable, and Major has no issues taking food from people. Major’s ideal home will understand the importance of setting him up for success and will be committed to continued training and positive reinforcement. His perfect day includes chewing on his favorite bones (separate from other dogs, of course!), spending time with his people, and soaking up all the affection he can get. If you’re looking for a young, loving, people-oriented dog who just needs the right guidance to shine, Major may be your perfect match.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.100% of every adoption fee is used to rescue and care for homeless animals.  Please consider donating to help us more rescue animals. Story
Meet Bubba! Rescued from a high-kill shelter, this is a big, lovable, playful guy who could be the newest companion to your pack!  With soulful eyes and a tail that wags for days, this four-year-old darling is a sweetheart who just wants to find and be with his people.  He is very house-trained, working on being crate-trained (going well), knows his name, “sit" and “down," and is non-destructive when left alone. Bubba is a polite house guest. He doesn’t bark at dogs or people as they walk by, both when he’s in the house or whenever out on walks.  Attentive and affectionate, Bubba is happiest on walks or runs, playing in the yard, chewing on his toys and lounging on the couch with his people. He is a big lap dog who loves to show love and get love in return. Though he is large, he is well-behaved enough for an apartment, as long as he gets enough exercise. But if he had his preference he would love a bit of yard to go along with his walks. (And he is always down for a walk!) He is an active guy who will walk/run/play hard and nap hard. He loves to romp around in the yard, sniff everything, play fetch, and has shown to be interested but not aggressive toward wildlife. He is eager to please, food motivated (good for training) and is a champ in the car. He responds well with firm/calm direction but also handles the noise of (a lot of) kids, play and laughter with ease. Bubba needs a loving household and a person/family who will continue to train him and treat him kindly. Bubba would be happy as your only dog or with another playful dog or dogs. He has socialized well with other medium and large dogs. He shows no food aggression or resource guarding. He would do well with younger and older kids alike. He isn’t totally aware of his size but will remind you of it when he gets excited, pushes into you for attention or play or when he lays on you for cuddles. With his loving and playful heart, Bubba is ready to find a forever family who will love him. Adoption fee: $525, includes all shots, sterilized, heartworm negative, dewormed, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Story
Meet Doug — the sweet, slightly cowardly cutie who’s doing his best out here.Doug is a friendly, gentle-hearted pup who adores pets and will happily lean into you for some more. He already knows “sit” and is eager to keep learning, especially with a patient person cheering him on.When it comes to other dogs, Doug is… well, a little unsure. He’s curious and interested, but he prefers to take things slow and figure it out at his own pace. With time, reassurance, and some positive experiences, he’s ready to grow his confidence. If you’re looking for a lovable softie who just needs a kind hand and a cozy place to land, Doug is your guy. He may be a bit of a scaredy-dog now, but with you by his side, he’ll blossom into the brave, loyal companion he’s meant to be.

Story
Meet Luna! This gorgeous girl was adopted as a four-month-old puppy and had some early training, but unfortunately, her family didn’t continue the structure and training she needed as she matured. Luna is a sensitive, intelligent dog who needs leadership and an engaged environment. Without it, she became anxious and overstimulated and had some guarding issues around the other dog in the home. When we first met Luna, she was heavily medicated. Her owners had consulted a behaviorist who prescribed multiple high-dose anti-anxiety medications, but the problems persisted. We connected them with Brittany, one of our trusted trainers, and recommended a behavioral board-and-train program. Brittany requires all her client dogs to be off medication before training, to address behavior at the root. We’re thrilled to share that Luna is now completely off medication and thriving. She’s thinking clearly, has rediscovered how to be a dog, and continues to progress each day. Despite Luna’s significant improvement, her family ultimately chose to rehome her, feeling they couldn’t meet her needs. Brittany immediately stepped up, offering to foster Luna and continue her training. Luna now lives with Brittany, her husband, and their pack of four dogs, and she’s doing beautifully. About Luna: Luna is affectionate, fun, and full of life. She’s also an active dog with moderate drive. She loves to learn and likes having a job or goals to keep life interesting. She’s not a couch potato; she needs both physical activity and mental stimulation, and does best with an experienced owner who will continue setting clear boundaries. Luna loves: *&#239&#184&#143&#226&#131&#163Training work and learning new skills *&#239&#184&#143&#226&#131&#163Playing ball and frisbee *&#239&#184&#143&#226&#131&#163Walks, hikes, patio outings, and off-leash runs and swimming in the local creek She’s great with people of all ages, but we think a home with older kids would be best. While she has solid social skills with other dogs, she would thrive as an only dog or paired with the right laid-back companion. Her current foster home includes a balanced pack, which has helped her, but resource and hierarchy issues mean it needs to be the right match. Luna has received extensive training and knows commands including: Sit, Down, Heel, Come, Stay, Place, Up Up, Out, Touch, and more. Her adoption includes two private training sessions with Brittany to support her transition and lifetime discounted lessons. Luna is looking for a home that understands her needs, is ready to keep her engaged, and wants to build a deep, rewarding bond with a smart, active girl. If you think you could be the perfect match, or know someone who might be, please reach out or apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: Pointer/Staffy Mix GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  63 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 3 years old COAT TYPE: Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION: Frederick, MD   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes.
