Story
https://foha.org/pet/jango/ My name is a special and unique one-it means "the greatest of heroes At times I feel heroic, remaining steadfast in my belief that I will find a forever home. But it will have to be with a patient owner that can work with me adjusting in encountering a lot of new things. You see, I can be a little skittish about unexpected sounds and sometimes wary of new people. But once I get to know someone, I am a gentle, attentive boy who knows "Sit, takes treats gently, and enjoys quiet story time I get along fine with other dogs (after appropriate introductions). But in my heart would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home so I can focus all my attention on bonding with my owners. I am deeply loyal and yearn for stability in a quiet home in a quiet area without children. I am also looking for a very patient, experienced owner. I forgot to tell you! I love to jump and could probably win a dog contest-so you need to keep an eye on me when I am in a yard. Since I have reached my golden years, I am eligible for the Senior Care Plan (learn more here). If you have additional questions, please use our Contact Us form and select Senior Care Plan Questions. Jango is sponsored by Kenneth Noto. Check out all of the dogs available at Friends of Homeless Animals! https://foha.org/pet-adoption/find-a-dog/

Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13949Hi!My name is Bonnie and I’m guessed to be a 5 month old Pointer/Boxer mixed breed dog. My weight at the moment is 13 pounds, but I’ve a little growing to do. My foster family says I’m a really great pup! Every day I learn new things about the world and about how to have good puppy manners. My foster family says I’m super sweet and snuggly and of course, you can see how adorable I am. I love play time and naptime and exploring and romping with my sibling family and I will love you too if you bring me home to be your loving companion. I am already settling into a routine in my foster home and I have been quiet in my crate at night. I am doing well in my potty training, and I mostly have been doing my business outside. I am very social and curious and I love playing with the other pups in my foster family. I have mastered the zoomies! I am a good eater and definitely treat-motivated. My foster mom says that, overall, I am a really great well-rounded puppy! What will you change my name to? What activities do you envision we could do together? Imagine the possibilities!I'm searching for a forever family like this…- Someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hours, at least not until I am older. The older I am, the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quickly and when I'm bored I could get in trouble.- I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun!- I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever! This puppy is microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Story
Hi y’all, my name is Dory, I'm a 1 year old, 50 lbs., German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) mix and I’m looking for a loving place to call my forever home. You see, the first few months of my life weren’t easy. My first human was young when she got me and brought me home to live with her, her grandmother, and another dog. I later found out that she never asked her grandmother’s permission to bring me home. Although I felt like an outcast, I stayed close to my first human to feel safe until she stopped coming around--- I guess I stopped being the new and shiny thing in her life. With her gone, tension built up at home. Her grandmother resented me, and her dog really disliked me. In fact, the other dog bullied and hurt me a few times.  For some dogs, losing their home is traumatic. However, I felt a huge sense of relief when I was surrendered because I was no longer walking on eggshells. The wonderful South Carolina animal shelter welcomed me in and showed me that the world isn’t scary. With their care and love, I blossomed! I love the outdoors and I love playing with other playful pups. After some waiting, the shelter transferred me to A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue to increase my chances of finding my forever home. I am now in a foster home with a lovely family, including 2 small humans. They're all great, especially the little humans! They're fun. My foster mom says that I am a sweet and easygoing girl, fully house broken, crate trained, and adorable. I don’t jump up on my foster family either! I like to calmly greet you at the door with a big waggly tail. I love children, belly rubs, long walks and food! I walk so well on a leash- I don’t pull, but sometimes I get excited to see squirrels or deer (who doesn't?!). I love meeting other dogs and cuddling with my humans. Reach out to the nice people at AHOTO so you can meet me!!  ##2143152##

Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
