Story
Meet Bubba! Rescued from a high-kill shelter, this is a big, lovable, playful guy who could be the newest companion to your pack!  With soulful eyes and a tail that wags for days, this four-year-old darling is a sweetheart who just wants to find and be with his people.  He is very house-trained, working on being crate-trained (going well), knows his name, “sit" and “down," and is non-destructive when left alone. Bubba is a polite house guest. He doesn’t bark at dogs or people as they walk by, both when he’s in the house or whenever out on walks.  Attentive and affectionate, Bubba is happiest on walks or runs, playing in the yard, chewing on his toys and lounging on the couch with his people. He is a big lap dog who loves to show love and get love in return. Though he is large, he is well-behaved enough for an apartment, as long as he gets enough exercise. But if he had his preference he would love a bit of yard to go along with his walks. (And he is always down for a walk!) He is an active guy who will walk/run/play hard and nap hard. He loves to romp around in the yard, sniff everything, play fetch, and has shown to be interested but not aggressive toward wildlife. He is eager to please, food motivated (good for training) and is a champ in the car. He responds well with firm/calm direction but also handles the noise of (a lot of) kids, play and laughter with ease. Bubba needs a loving household and a person/family who will continue to train him and treat him kindly. Bubba would be happy as your only dog or with another playful dog or dogs. He has socialized well with other medium and large dogs. He shows no food aggression or resource guarding. He would do well with younger and older kids alike. He isn’t totally aware of his size but will remind you of it when he gets excited, pushes into you for attention or play or when he lays on you for cuddles. With his loving and playful heart, Bubba is ready to find a forever family who will love him. Adoption fee: $525, includes all shots, sterilized, heartworm negative, dewormed, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Story
Meet Aphrodite: Goddess of Love, Snacks, and Belly Rubs 💘🐾 Aphrodite is a 2-year-old, 35-pound mixed breed beauty who looks like she was hand-painted by the dog gods themselves; white and brown speckles, rich chocolate patches, and those chef’s kiss tick marks. She’s basically a living piece of modern art that also happens to wag her tail at you. Aphrodite has a wonderful disposition and truly has never met a stranger. She adores every dog she meets – even the ones that snark at her. She knows she will win them over. If you have another dog that likes to play, Aphrodite would be a perfect playmate and companion. Right now, she’s a little on the skinny side, but don’t worry... she’s fully committed to bulking season and is accepting all snack donations in the form of treats, cheese, or whatever you “accidentally” drop on the floor. Aphrodite’s hobbies include loving everyone she meets, collecting compliments, and daydreaming about her forever home—a place where she can finally unpack her squeaky toys, fill out her figure, and never have to wonder where she belongs again. Bring this goddess home and prepare to fall hopelessly in love. Questions About this Animal? Please email hart90office@gmail.com View My Profile: https://new.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/HRT-A-595

Story
Come meet me during our events Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at the Homeward Trails Manny Law Adoption Center, 11116 Fairfax Station Rd, Fairfax Station, VA. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: adoptioncenter@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Adoption Center ADOPTION FEE: WAIVED! I'M PART OF THE REWARDS PROGRAM AND MY ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED. WE WILL ALSO PAY MY FOSTER OR ADOPTER $500. HT has a number of dogs that need very special homes. These dogs have been failed by humans along the way, leaving them homeless and with issues from their treatment. We'll be honest. Some of them are real jerks. But not always. And not to everyone. Not everyone can be charming ALL the time, right? Others are just fearful and don't like other animals because they have had a bad interaction at some point. Some of them love other dogs but are just plain scared of everything. But all of them are good on the inside. And we believe that ALL of them deserve a chance at life and love. And we're looking to find the right human out there to make that happen. But competition is tough. And they're up against small, well-behaved doggies...so we are offering incentives for special humans willing to give these pooches a chance. WE WANT YOU! ***We are paying $500 to any approved foster or adopter of our REWARDS dogs.*** The human will also get ongoing training support, all supplies covered and a $25 Amazon gift card each month for 6 months. You will learn and grow. You will be doing a world of good for a dog who has really had it rough in life. ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 45 lbs. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Domino prefers playing with dogs who don't play too hard and respect when he gives them signals, or spending solo time with his human friends. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not currently know how they are with cats. If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! KNOWN WITH KIDS: We think Domino would do better in a home with older children or adults. KNOWN CUES: Paw, Sit, Down, working on Spin, Crawl, and Touch. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Domino goes into and rests in his crate fine at the Adoption Center though he was more concerned about it in a home environment. He also seems to be housebroken. KNOWN LIKES: Sniffing, attention from friends who move at his speed, fetch, toys, treats. KNOWN DISLIKES: People who move too quickly, loud noises, being alone. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: What impact does the domino effect have on you? Exercise caution, as you might find yourself entranced just as I was. From the very first moment I encountered Domino, I was utterly captivated by him. We spent a delightful afternoon together, lounging on the sofa while I attended to my work. Domino made numerous attempts to assist me; he would perch on my lap and gaze at the computer screen. On occasion, he even attempted to type for me. Although his contributions may not have aligned with my needs, his efforts were nonetheless appreciated. You may wonder where his happy place is, and that is hanging out with his favorite people, moving at his speed. When he adores you, he loves putting himself in your space and receiving attention, but sometimes too much love can be overwhelming for Domino, so he prefers his attention in small bursts. Domino has a fondness for treats and enjoys being in the company of people. He doesn't mind being around dogs, provided they respect his cues when he is ready to conclude playtime. He relishes short cuddles, play sessions with toys, and leisurely walks in tranquil environments. Although he may initially feel anxious when meeting new individuals, he quickly warms up, and once he gets to know you, he wants to spend all his time by your side and would prefer a home with constant human companionship. So, I pose the question once more: What effect does the domino effect have on you? I invite you to visit the adoption center to meet him and discover for yourself what an extraordinary and lovable companion he truly is. Story
Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.handsome young boy ISO happily ever after! HT NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet HT and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Feb. 8th) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!     Name:  HT       Best Guess for Breed:   Pointer mix  Best Guess for Age:  6 years as of January 2026         SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:  67 lbs   Gets Along With:  HT likes other dogs and needs to go to a home with a friendly resident dog. We haven't seen him with cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any interested adopters. HT should not go to a home with children under the age of 12.   Currently Living at:  DC area home   Special adoption considerations:    HT can be a little nervous and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will show him that all is well!   All about HT:   HT arrived into our care back in 2020 and was adopted out to a loving home. He has been very well taken care of! His previous humans say he's a sweetie who really likes being around his people. In the home, he's a good boy whose crate is his safe space. He returns to his crate on command with 'Time for bed,' and sleeps there overnight. He also stayed in his crate when his humans were out of the house.   He loves his walkies! Likes to pull a bit ahead, taking in all the scenery. He doesn't react to other dogs or people - maybe a quick sniff but that's it. Off leash with other dogs, he likes playing chase and running. Wrestling and roughhousing isn't his thing - he prefers open play. (He would not be the best fit for a home with a resident dog who likes rough play.)   He is long out of the puppy yips and knows what he loves - walks, adventures, his people, a chill home, a friendly resident dog who will show him the ropes, his people. And don't forget his people. He is eager to once again love and be loved, to bestow upon his people all those adoring gazes he's stockpiling. What do you say? Is HT the one you see by your side? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. She’s crate and potty trained! Story: Precious comes to us from a shelter in Alabama. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Precious is a sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. Precious is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Precious will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! The fee to adopt Precious is $475. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, her spay, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in her foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines.
