If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process by visiting:  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:  Baby Petey (PET0525ALAMD)Estimated Breed:   English Pointer mix Approximate Age:  DOB 4/1/25     Approximate Weight:  10 LBS Currently Living at:  Foster      Adoption Fee:  $500DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Meet Baby Petey! Petey and his three siblings (Baby Farley, Baby Charley and Baby Dill Pickle) came all the way from Alabama and were the result of someone breeding their dogs and then needing to find homes for the puppies. Thankfully, they have been rescued by K-9 Lifesavers and landed nice foster homes. While they have enjoyed being a part of the puppy pile, they are ready to find their respective forever homes. Could that be with you? They are your typical sweet, friendly and playful puppies. At their young ages, they are in their prime for training and socialization too. If you are ready to add a puppy to your family, look no further than Petey! Submit an application today and give this very deserving fella the home of his dreams. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ready to play!KENTUCKY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Kentucky and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/25) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring, MD (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!   Name:  Kentucky       Best Guess for Breed:   Pointer and lab mix Best Guess for Age:  3 years 6 mos as of February 2024   Gender:    Male Approximate Weight:    51 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids. Kentucky is a bit too interested in his feline friends so a home without cats is best. Currently Living At: DC area foster home Kentucky is Looking For: His forever family! He's got all that awesome young-dog energy and is eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and exploring the world - he hasn't seen nearly enough of it. He'd love to make pup pals along the way, too. Quality kibble, cushy dog beds, peanut butter-filled Kongs - yes, please. But you know what he wants most of all? To know where he belongs, to know he's safe and loved for all his days. What do you say? Is he the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Kentucky is a very sweet, loving and good boy. He is high energy, playful, a little clumsy, and a giant goofball but he loves affection and attention, loves being outside, and loves being near me. He is doing great walking on leash and has been a wonderful running and hiking companion. He is very food motivated and loves to play with other dogs - he has gotten along great with another dog in the home. Chew toys, playing ball, and veggies (yes really!) are his favorite. He is so happy and a very sweet dog! Medical: Kentucky was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. Kentucky has completed the treatment and exercise restriction phase, and is now awaiting his 6-month follow up test.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Energetic, adorable, and lovable, Lassie is everything you want in a canine companion. She loves to run, play, and sniff, and she loves people! Lassie is a 35 pound, petite beauty with distinctive black spots down her little white back. She is a tail-wagging, treat-loving good time. And her intelligence and love for treats will make her easy to train! Lassie was an owner surrender in PG county. The owner suggested a placement without children, but another dog would be great for Lassie as she is always happy to engage a playmate. A yard with a fence is an absolute must for this active little climber, and walks and hikes are great too. Lassie is game for an adventure, she loves to ride in the car, and she wants to be outside to explore the world around her and all of its good smells. Lassie's foster says that Lassie is very engaged, she loves to run, and she actively seeks out love and attention. Lassie's short term foster said that Lassie is full of love, energy and interest in her world! She is funny and smart, and that she has no problem figuring out her surroundings.  Lassie would love to be in a long-term foster home while she is looking for her forever people. This little Lassie does calm down after a good romp. She is very people-focused and she will seek out her person for a quiet snuggle or nap. Lassie is crate- and house-trained. She would love the chance to show you how fun life can be with her by your side! PAW adopts dogs in the MD, VA, and DC region ##2368933##
