Story
Please contact Chandler Jaffe (chandler.jaffe@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.happy boy looking for fresh start and love! RANDY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Randy      Best Guess for Breed: Pointer and shepherd mix     Best Guess for Age:   5 years as of July 2026       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   42 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats  but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!  We do not recommend Randy for a home with children under the age of 12.     Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.  Get to know Randy! Randy is Looking For:  This handsome guy landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He is eagerly looking ahead to his new one. The one where he gets his own humans for long sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures they can dream up. He's well out of the puppy yips and is in his prime as an adult dog, so he knows what's most important in life: being safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:  Randy, who we sometimes refer to affectionately as “Inspector Randy” is such a goofy and sweet dog! Randy is very self sufficient. His house training and crate training are excellent. He entertains himself by playing with dog toys, sniffing under the couch, or putting himself in his crate to get in some chill time. He does not beg for food or demand attention. Instead, he will gently offer to place his head in your lap for some ear scratches and when he’s gotten his fill, return to sniffing or snoozing. But don’t let his self sufficiency fool you - he does love to snuggle! Randy enjoys his walks (did I mention one of his hobbies is sniffing?) and observing birds. He especially enjoys walks where he gets pets from kind neighbors and strangers. Sometimes the squirrels are tempting, but he’s been learning that their fates shall not intertwine. He is also learning that other dogs are more interested in being friends than being his boss, and has found several dogs to greet around the neighborhood. When he’s settled in and knows he’s safe and loved, he will show you his most joyous zoomies. Overall, he’s a quirky lovable dog who would be a loyal companion.      Heartworm information: Randy is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Randy has completed this activity restriction period   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Toffee is a 3.5–4-month-old, 20lb puppy, who’s all legs, sweetness, and curiosity. She’s a fun, gentle girl with a naturally shy side, but her confidence grows more each day as she learns about the world around her. She’s currently thriving in a busy foster home with two female resident dogs, three cats, and two teenagers ... she’s handling the everyday chaos beautifully. Toffee is doing great with both house-training and crate-training, and she absolutely loves playing with other dogs. Because Toffee takes cues from confident pups, she will do best in a home with a friendly, well-adjusted dog companion who can help show her the ropes. She’s still learning polite manners with cats (she’s more playful than they prefer), but she’s eager to please and making steady progress with guidance. Toffee is a loving, thoughtful puppy who will blossom in a patient home that can continue building her confidence and helping her shine. Story
Want to meet ME?* Come to our adoption event this weekend: Sunday, July 26th from 2:00-4:00 Vanish Brewery, 42245 Black Hops Lane, Leesburg, VA 20176 We encourage potential adopters to apply ahead of our adoption events so we can begin getting to know you and help assess whether an adoption may be a good match prior to the event. We hope to see you on Sunday!!! *Dog/Cat attendance is not guaranteed. Feel free to text the event coordinator to confirm a specific dog/cat's attendance: 703-447-4766 IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Amelia! Amelia is about 12 weeks old and weighs about 10-12 lbs. We have no idea on breed mix, but our guess is German Short hair Pointer/Hound - JUST A GUESS. Amelia is a happy, playful and sweet puppy. She is at her happiest when she is sitting in your lap:) Amelia is great with the resident dogs in her foster home. Amelia has only had one accident in her foster home and seems house trained when on a consistent schedule. Amelia sleeps in her crate through the night. Amelia is ready for any adventure and is happy when she has a lap to sit on. Because Amelia is a young puppy, the adopter must be home during the day to continue training and socialization and help the puppy grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog. This puppy has age-appropriate vaccines, is microchipped and will need to be spayed/neuter at 6 months of age. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**
