Story
Our Zanny is NOT for new pet owners or fosters. She is in desperate need of a family that has another high-level, massively energetic young dog already at home who needs a playmate. Having SO much energy to run around (currently, we use a 26’ retractable leash since she’s impossible to catch without one), she needs 4 small meals each day to help maintain her pleasantness. This is working most effectively for her.    She is very quiet with her house-training signals, so you will want to pay close attention to the cues she gives—such as circling and quiet whimpering. She has about an hour of hardcore playtime in the morning where she play-destroys (her favorite hard toys) until her breakfast kicks in & she’s able to calm down.   Zanny does well being kenneled and is accustomed to sleeping in her kennel at night. Her daily vigorousness means that all clothes and shoes, etc. need to be picked up, so that she’s not tempted to drag them around while you’re fighting with her to get them back. Along with the clothes diversion, Zanny is an ankle-biter. No seriously, she’s an ankle-biter. Her foster mom wears tall heavy slicker rain boots when she takes her outside. Fortunately, she is biting less and less when she is distracted with treats for ‘sitting’.    Zanny is a Puggle, which is a breed that needs attention to how much she exercises. She will overplay and overexert herself every single time, and you need to be mindful of that. To help her overcome that intense emotion & the wind being knocked out of her when she reaches the end of the retractable leash…her foster mom has taught her how to come when she calls her name! This one distraction will prevent Zanny from reaching the end too quickly and will instead turn it into a game. Even though this is a new trick, she has 100% perfected it, & it has made ALL of the difference in her quality of play and her demeanor.    Zanny is at her very best when she has finished napping after lunch, when she gives an abundance of kisses and is able to receive quality scratches. She DOES have a limit of how many scratches, but you can get many in before she reminds you :)   Zanny MUST have a house that does NOT have young children or seniors living in it. She will be too much for them. She is perfectly perfect when all of these obstacles have been met, but beyond challenging if you’re not able to meet all of her needs.   Our hope is that Zanny will appreciate and be the very best of friends with your dog, and they will become bonded and she will forever have a place of her own.   Adoption fee: $525, includes all shots, sterilized, heartworm negative, dewormed, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Story
Lily's Story PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing or "inquiring" is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Meet Lily, a sweet loving dog with a sad story, she came out of a home that was split up due to domestic violence and had no place to go. Lily is a gentle dog who will be timid when you first meet her, she warms up pretty quickly and turns into an amazing girl who follows her foster around everywhere. She is about 30 pounds, about 3 years old, housebroken, gentle with dogs and has also lived with cats. Looking for a quiet home where she can gain confidence and become the incredible companion she was meant to be. Breed is a guess, looks like a mini boxer, probably pug with something else. The adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative, heartworm test if age appropriate and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment

Story
Gary is a one‑of‑a‑kind guy with a heart full of affection and a personality that’s impossible not to adore. He’s fun, he’s funky, and he has a soft spot for love, snuggles, and pretty much any pet willing to hang out with him. He’s fantastic with kids, happily soaking up their attention and joining in on the fun. That said, Gary does have one quirky habit: he loves to snack on things he shouldn’t. Tiny toys, mystery floor treasures, “forbidden candy” — if it fits in his mouth, he thinks it’s fair game. Because of that, a home with a designated play area or a room where small items can be kept safely out of reach would be ideal for keeping this silly boy out of trouble. As for his breed mix… well, your guess is as good as ours. We think he might be a Lab–Pug combo, but Gary prefers to identify as 100% original. If you’re looking for a lovable, quirky companion who brings joy, laughter, and a whole lot of heart, Gary is ready to wiggle his way into your life.Gary's adoption fee is $125, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption.
