Story
Pancake is an amazing senior pug mix. She is 10 years young and ready for love. Pancake would excel in a quieter home. Short walks are her jam and she needs an adopter who is committed to her weight loss journey. Pancake is so sweet and people oriented. She is great with people, dogs, kids and we imagine will be fine with cats with a proper introductions. This girl will bring a smile to your face. The adoption fee for this dog is $250 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. Petconnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. Story
Hi I’m Barbie! Can you help me find my dream house?! I was surrendered to a small shelter and my owner’s weren’t very nice to me. Despite that I am always happy! I am great with other dogs and I love to play chase and wrestle. I also love toys. I’m the perfect small to medium size at 20 lbs and I’m full grown since I’m a year old. They say I’m a pug/chihuahua mix but that’s just a guess based on my beautiful looks and goofy personality! I do have some quirks but don’t we all! I get so happy to see you when you get home and try to get your attention by pulling on your pants. I’m working on this and trying to find new ways to get your attention by grabbing a toy instead. I also really love snacks so I’m very motivated to learn new things! Barbie’s adoption fee is $395 with transport and includes current shots, microchip, negative heartworm test, spay and current on flea/tick & heartworm prevention. If you are interested in Barbie email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com for an application.

Story
Meet Chico! Chico and his buddy, Bear, were surrendered to the rescue because their family was having financial difficulties and could not afford to keep them. Both pups were stressed when they first came into the rescue after this major life change, but they have acclimated well to their new foster homes. Chico is currently being fostered with two small dogs both more laid back energy, one is very submissive and one is more bossy, and Chico does well with both.  While Chio can be nervous after change, once he settles in, he is a very sweet, confident, and affectionate boy. Like many rescue pups, he needs a little more time to warm up to men, but he's doing great with his foster dad.  Chico is a fun pup who loves his people and enjoys going for walks and romping around the yard to explore. He has good house manners; he’s crate-trained and housetrained (he may mark for a few days in a new home - his foster mom used a belly band while he settled in). He’s not much of a barker and will go for as many walks as someone will take him on. He has a medium energy level and is always up for activity and does great in the car...but knows how to relax inside...and will be your couch relaxing buddy. We checked in with Chico's foster mom, Kristin, for an udpate: FOSTER MOM UPDATE: 9/9/23 Chico is doing great. He has definitely acclimated to our home and dogs. We have one dog that is very submissive that he gets along fine with and another dog that is a bit dominant and he shows him the proper level of respect. He is doing great with house training. He marked for the first day, but quickly let that go. He does like to explore the yard, but also really really enjoy his walks. Occasionally when he sees another dog on a walk, he might bark a bit, but for the most part he's happy to walk with his people.  We're still working on leash manners as he has a tendency to pull but for a young pup with energy, it's not unexpected. He'll need a family who is  willing to exercise him daily and he'll be an excellent walking buddy. Chico would definitely be happy in a home with another dog. He would be great with kids, but he when he gets very excited, he likes to jump so care would be needed with really young children. He will bark when someone is at the door or coming in, but otherwise it's a fairly quiet pup. He likes his crate and absolutely loves to snuggle with his people on the bed at night. He currently shares the bed with his foster people and two other dogs and does great. He also does absolutely fabulous on long car rides with no issues. Chico would do well wtih another dog, or as only dog, with or without kids..He's pretty flexible and very cute! Apply for this cutie today! BREED ESTIMATE: Chug - Pug/Chihuahua mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: ~ 21 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE:  ~ 2 years old COAT TYPE:  medium/thick w/curly Pug tail ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Alexandria, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. Story
We bought Pig from a reputable breeder at 6 weeks old. He is not a show pug by any means but he is pure bred. On the taller and longer side, his tail isn’t very curly, and he is about 26 pounds. Unfortunately after having 3 babies throughout these past 5 years I can’t give Pig any attention at all. He deserves someone to play with him, walk him daily, and snuggle on the couch with. When he gets bored he can be naughty which is why he needs enough stimulation. He is stubborn as all pugs are but does know basic commands (although he wants a treat in order to listen). He is crate trained. He has been under preventative veterinary care all his life, but not had a dental cleaning. He is not good at getting his nails trimmed (hates his paws being touched). He has a few lipomas (fat deposits) under his belly skin that are benign. He puts up with children and is not aggressive. He has lived with a cat before but not another dog. He will not bark at any dogs or people on walks.
