Story
Meet Chico! Chico and his buddy, Bear, were surrendered to the rescue because their family was having financial difficulties and could not afford to keep them. Both pups were stressed when they first came into the rescue after this major life change, but they have acclimated well to their new foster homes. Chico is currently being fostered with two small dogs both more laid back energy, one is very submissive and one is more bossy, and Chico does well with both. While Chio can be nervous after change, once he settles in, he is a very sweet, confident, and affectionate boy. Like many rescue pups, he needs a little more time to warm up to men, but he's doing great with his foster dad. Chico is a fun pup who loves his people and enjoys going for walks and romping around the yard to explore. He has good house manners; he’s crate-trained and housetrained (he may mark for a few days in a new home - his foster mom used a belly band while he settled in). He’s not much of a barker and will go for as many walks as someone will take him on. He has a medium energy level and is always up for activity and does great in the car...but knows how to relax inside...and will be your couch relaxing buddy. We checked in with Chico's foster mom, Kristin, for an udpate: FOSTER MOM UPDATE: 9/9/23 Chico is doing great. He has definitely acclimated to our home and dogs. We have one dog that is very submissive that he gets along fine with and another dog that is a bit dominant and he shows him the proper level of respect. He is doing great with house training. He marked for the first day, but quickly let that go. He does like to explore the yard, but also really really enjoy his walks. Occasionally when he sees another dog on a walk, he might bark a bit, but for the most part he's happy to walk with his people. We're still working on leash manners as he has a tendency to pull but for a young pup with energy, it's not unexpected. He'll need a family who is willing to exercise him daily and he'll be an excellent walking buddy. Chico would definitely be happy in a home with another dog. He would be great with kids, but he when he gets very excited, he likes to jump so care would be needed with really young children. He will bark when someone is at the door or coming in, but otherwise it's a fairly quiet pup. He likes his crate and absolutely loves to snuggle with his people on the bed at night. He currently shares the bed with his foster people and two other dogs and does great. He also does absolutely fabulous on long car rides with no issues. Chico would do well wtih another dog, or as only dog, with or without kids..He's pretty flexible and very cute! Apply for this cutie today!
