Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)       Jairo's Bio: Jairo was abandoned with another doggie on a rural road. His friend was taken away, leaving Jairo alone, but he was rescued by one of the rescuers who feeds doggies on the same road where Jairo was abandoned. Name -JairoAge - 1 a 2 yrsSex - MWeight - 20 poundsSpay-neuter? YesLeashed trained? Yes...A+Dog, cat, kids friendly? He has always been alone; his rescuer mom doesn't have any children, nor does she have cats or dogs, although when he was abandoned he was with another dog, so we understand that he was used to being around other animals. He likes to chase cats as if it were a game. When his rescuer mom walked him past a group of cats, he ignored them. He hasn't had any contact with children.Any resourse guarding? NoPeople friendly? Super friendly with other people Personality? Friendly, active, runs very fast, ideal for exercising with its owner, for agility classes, likes to hunt and eat, doesn't like water much but handles bath time very well.HW Tested? Yes, negative What vaccines do he have? DHLPP, Bordetella and Rabies             All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
Meet Maddie, a sweet and spirited 7-year-old mixed terrier looking for her perfect forever home. She’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and happiest playing fetch, splashing in the water, or snuggling under a blanket with her humans. She adores ear scritches, baby carrots, and learning new tricks—especially when treats are involved! Maddie also loves tracking chipmunks. While her recall is excellent, a fenced yard is ideal to keep her safe during her explorations. She’s a sensitive soul who thrives with a little support and takes daily antianxiety medication and Proin, both of which she often takes with cheese! Maddie prefers all four paws on the ground and does not enjoy being picked up. She would do best as the only dog in a calm, adult home—young children and other dogs make her nervous, and she blossoms most when she feels secure. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly companion with a playful streak and a big heart, Maddie might be your perfect match!

Story
Rio came to us as an owner surrender when his family was losing their home to eviction. He was one of a number of dogs in the home that needed new homes, and we were able to take 3 of them. Rio is a friendly boy who is somewhat timid when he first meets new people or encounters new situations. He warms up quickly! There's no aggression - he's just a little scared at first.\ He loves other dogs and we would like to see him in a home with at least one other dog. He was best friends with a dog in his former home, and seems to love having a canine companion or two. He would be happy to live with children 10 years old or older. Rio is a wonderful boy who will make a great family member!

Story
Meet Lucky, a sweet and spunky ~3 year old neutered male rat terrier mix/Jack Russell terrier mix, weighing about 15lbs.  Lucky is a friendly, loving boy who gets along well with other dogs, people, and kids. He likes cats but he does chase them, so a cat free home (or one with dog savvy cats) would probably be best for him. He would also LOVE a fenced in yard of his own, as he loves to run and get his zoomies out!  From Lucky: "My name is Lucky, my foster mom calls me Loki and I answer to both. I am a Rat Terrier/Jack Russell  mix and I have energy to spare so if you have a fenced in yard I am the pup for you. I am very loving, affectionate and a happy boy.  If you let me, I can be your lap pup. I love to love you and crave your attention. I’m good with other pups and will play with them but I would like a buddy that’s bigger than me or I can be your only one and will enjoy every minute you give me. I love to go for walks and I get excited when you get my leash. I am potty trained and do best on a regular schedule. When I get over stimulated by my foster mom’s little rascals, I will chill in another room  in my bed. I am looking for my human  that will spend some quality time with me and if you feel that you are the one please apply!" Lucky is medically up to date, crate trained, and mostly housebroken (he does great with a routine, occasional accidents when not kept on a routine). Apply to meet this special boy today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2313572##

Story
MEET REX-POODLE/RAT TERRIER MIX – SENIOR IN URGENT NEED OF A NEW HOME ** He was heading to ACC Shelter December 4th but we were able to take him into foster** Rex has known nothing but a loving home since he was a puppy. He has been a family member since they brought him home as a puppy. Rex’s Mom can no longer care for him, as she is transitioning to a new living situation. Rex is a social, affectionate and loving boy, still active and playful even in his golden years. Rex is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Rex is approximately 10 years old, a Poodle/Rat Terrier Mix, and weighs 25 pounds. He is a good boy, house broken and happy walking on a leash. He loves peanutbutter, gravy bones and bacon strips, in other words, he loves all treats. Rex can be shy at first, until he gets to know his new surroundings and friends. He has no experience living with children or cats but doing well with his foster families dog. As always, an introduction would be needed. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet, social, playful young at heart boy.
