Story
Bailey (born 6/20/2015) is a 14 pound, housebroken, Rat Terrier mix. Because Bailey came from an abuse situation, he has trust issues. If you want to adopt him, you would need to visit with Bailey a few times to become friends and gain his trust. The deal here is that Bailey needs to know you before he can trust you. Once Bailey knows you, he is a very affectionate and loyal friend, but he will also be protective – so he needs to know that you will be the one to protect him. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Bailey, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net. You can give as much or as little as you like. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you! For additional information on the Humane Society of New York, please visit: humanesocietyny.org. Thank you!

Story
Marilyn, a 5-year-old, 13-pound female rat terrier/chi mix, is a cuddle monster. She has adjusted well to city life after leaving San Diego. She flew to NYC back in February to help make space in the shelters for the LA dogs displaced by the fires. She has the most beautiful light brown eyes that will remain trained on her chosen human. She is loyal loving girl who loves any and all treats. She has learned to “sit” as long as there are treats involved. When home with her human, she must be touching you. She may bark once or twice when her human leaves the house but settles down very quickly and is fine until they return. She would do well in a home with another adult dog, as she suffers from solo dog separation anxiety. While she prefers being with her humans, the presence of another dog seems to soothe her. You must pay the belly rub tax when you leash her up and clean her paws. She does great on a leash and appears to be house trained.  Marilyn has a large bald patch on her back and tail. Her fur has begun to slowly grow back but  her forever family will want to keep an eye on this and make sure that her skin continues to improve. She is received a dental and had  a couple teeth extracted.  It appears she has had many babies in the past…and does not enjoy the energy of puppies. Who can blame her! She seems intrigued by the sounds of cats on TV but that remains untested.  View Marilyn in action Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, lepto, and bordetella. Spayed, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Marilyn, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2286388##

✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to JFK/EWR💟 Meet Dari❤️ 💙 Update Account: @_adogs_everyday 1⃣ Health Status • Spayed: Yes • Other: Microchipped • Diagnosed with suspected allergic lymphadenitis on the lower abdomen—currently being treated with prescription food and atopic medication. 2⃣ Rescue Story Dari entered the Gimje shelter with her six puppies. Despite suffering from severe skin disease herself, she continued to care for her babies. Sadly, one of her puppies passed away. With winter approaching and concern growing for their health, Dari and her remaining puppies were urgently rescued. 3⃣ Personality and Behavior • With People: Dari absolutely loves people! She’s affectionate with both strangers and familiar people—often running up for cuddles. • With Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs at the center. She has a quiet personality and prefers calmly observing over rough play. • Separation Anxiety: Unknown due to communal living at the center. • Potty Training: Can use pee pads but currently does outdoor potty only. May need retraining in a new environment. • Grooming & Handling: Very cooperative—tolerates baths and nail trims well. Dislikes the dryer but allows it when held. • Walking: Walks well without pulling on the leash. • Car Rides: No motion sickness—she lies down and rests calmly in the car. 4️⃣ Special Notes • Dari has great recall and will come right away when her name is called. She’s a clever and loving girl!
