Story
Bear is a tiny, lovable companion with a big heart. At just about a year old and just under 20 pounds, this handsome little guy is incredibly people-focused and affectionate. He loves nothing more than curling up next to you on the couch—or better yet, right in your lap—and will happily follow you around like your shadow. Bear's foster says that he has picks up routines very quickly and that he is very smart! Bear came to PAW after his owner unexpectedly passed away, and he’s ready to start his next chapter with a loving family. He previously lived with other dogs and did great, so he’d likely enjoy a canine companion, but he’s just as happy soaking up all the attention on his own. He’s been a wonderful houseguest in foster care—house and crate trained, not much of a barker, and easygoing overall. On walks, Bear enjoys taking his time to sniff and explore, and he’s done well meeting other dogs on leash. At home, he loves playing with toys, scampering around the yard, and soaking up belly rubs. Bear would do best in a home with adults or children over 13 who can give him the love, companionship, and stability he’s used to. He’s a truly special little dog just waiting for a great home to call his own. PAW adopts to MD, DC, southern PA, and northern VA. ##2677552##

Story
AdoptAPet Inquires are not an application and will be ignored. Looking for a Foster or Adopter Rue is approximately 10 months old and fully grown at 20lbs. This sweet girl is playful, smart, and 100% a clown. Learning new things is what she excels at! She loves her walks and boy does she also like to run around, as in chase me if you can to the fastest of dogs :) She gets along with dogs of all sizes, cats and of course humans. Kids unknown. She’s not a barker, social yet happily independent. Crate trained. Rue needs an active family. She will be a tripping hazard for the elderly and folks with mobility challenges. At some point right after she was born, Rue experienced some kind of trauma causing a neurological deficit that manifests in an abnormal gate which is not noticeable unless you’re looking for it as well as needing structured potty time. We do not believe she is need of further assessment but potential adopters should discuss Rue with their veterinary professional. Apply here: https://tinyurl.com/TLCdogapp Adoption radius: within 60 miles of zip code 20906. We do not promote any of our dogs as house trained or allergy friendly

Story
Debbie-Decker Terrier/Rat TerrierTri-colored female, ~3 yr. (March 2026) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for an application. Debbie came to rescue when her owner could no longer care for her. They said their life was too busy to have a dog and asked a Dog Trainer/Head of a Dog Prison Program to take Debbie in. She's been living as a foster dog with the Trainer for a couple weeks and has done very well with her large dogs. She's friendly, well behaved in the house. She's crate trained and a joy to have around. Said to be high energy, she'll make a great hiking of running partner. Debbie is about 35#, a nice medium size. This week she started the Training Program at the Prison and will be learning basic obedience and so much more! Debbie's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Please include your location and a phone number for future communication. "The Decker Terrier is a remarkable and rare branch of the Rat Terrier family, admired for its size, versatility, and loyal temperament. Sometimes referred to as the “Decker Giant Rat Terrier,” this breed was developed in the 1970s by Milton Decker with the goal of creating a dog that was larger, athletic, and adaptable while still retaining the intelligence and loyalty of the traditional Rat Terrier. Today, the Decker Terrier is known as a loyal companion, excellent family dog, and versatile working partner — making it one of the most sought-after Rat Terrier variations."

Story
Meet Raptor, the puppy who likes to pretend he’s the cool, calm, collected member of the group… until you get him one-on-one. Around the other puppies, Raptor acts like the laid-back observer. But the moment he has you to himself? Surprise! The chill guy disappears and the attention-loving goofball comes out. If you stop petting him, he will absolutely let you know about it. Raptor believes attention should be continuous and uninterrupted. His favorite hobby is shoe sabotage. Raptor specializes in sneaking up while you're standing there minding your business and carefully untying your shoelaces. It’s a very important job and he takes it seriously. Raptor gets along well with his siblings and lives with four adult dogs and four cats. The dogs are cool with him, and he would very much like to be friends with the cats… but the cats have not yet approved his application. If you're looking for a puppy who is equal parts chill, silly, affectionate, and mildly mischievous, Raptor is ready to keep you entertained. Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
We will never know Raya’s past, but she came to us from the shelter as a stray with urine stains on her fur and recently healed scars on her head and side. Raya is believed to be around 4 years-old and is probably a mix of rat terrier and chihuahua, now at a good weight of 9.5 lbs.! She had her spay and a small benign mass removed from her left armpit shortly after arriving, and saw specialists to address extreme pain during bowel movements. Finally, in November 2025, she had double knee surgery to correct her painful injuries. Although Raya has healed well she will probably remain a little lame on her right rear leg but that doesn’t stop her at all! She is back to going up and down stairs, can now get up on the sofa by herself, and is even dancing for her breakfast! Although she has mostly done well with the other resident dogs, she has displayed signs of resource-guarding with her crate. These behaviors might be related to the physical scars she has and her experience with other dogs prior to the shelter, so she would do best in a home with no children or dogs. Although she can be a bit barky at people and dogs when out walking, she is very treat-motivated and can easily be redirected. When introduced to the resident cat, Raya did not seem interested. Even though Raya does not ask to go out, she is reliably house-trained on a schedule. Raya is cute as a button, recovered from knee surgery, and is ready to start looking for her forever home. Considering Raya’s past, she would do best in a home where she would get all the attention and not have to share her human(s). You can see more of Raya in her online photo album at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/raya Because of her past injuries and recent surgery, we are looking for a local adopter to be able to meet her and learn more about her! If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. NewRattitude.org/adopt/  From there, you can access our adoption application or contact our Adoption Team for more info.March 9, 2026, 11:01 pm
