Story
Meet Izziy. This sweet young pup was abandoned by her owner in Lake Wylie, SC in April. They decided they no longer wanted her and just left her defenseless to fend for herself. Some tenants in the community started feeding her but when they were evicted and had to leave, Izzy was once again on her own. A Good Samaritan saw her lying on the deck of the empty home waiting for their return and reached out to Worthy Dog for help. This very sweet girl deserves so much better, and our team is already working hard to give that to her. Izzy is being fostered with a foster mom and dad, two small dogs, and two cats. She’s not been super playful yet but is respectful of her pack and shares food/attention well. She warmed up to her foster parents right away, and once she settles in is very much a lap dog. Izzy is  crate trained and quickly learned to use the doggy door and has had no accidents since the first day she arrived. She’s done well meeting visitors to her foster home and really loves people — it takes her a minute to warm up but once she does, she’s all about the pets.   Izzy is a young pup with a moderate energy level. She is happy little dog who will make a great companion. More updates to follow as we learn more about her.  Apply today! BREED ESTIMATE: Rat Terrier Mix GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: ~  14 lbs APPROXIMATE AGE:  ~ 2 years old COAT TYPE:  short ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/spayed/microchipped FOSTER LOCATION: Alexandria, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. He is very smart, learns quickly, and is eager to please. This lil guy plays well with other pups and loves, loves, loves to cuddle! Story
Willy Wonka is pretty much already a spoiled rotten boy. He is doing so good. He is crate trained and loves to sleep all night after lots of walks and exercise. He is great on the leash. Of course he likes to carry his leash. He is doing good on potty training. He knows the word and is eager to please. Of course I have only fostered less than a week and it will take a little longer to be completely potty trained. He is about 11-12 weeks old and about 13 pounds. He loves to cuddle and at the same time romp and play. He seems to like everyone and all dogs. He is a little shy but warms right up. Text or Call Teresa 2767910475. Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet Rat Terrier can't wait to race into your heart ANIKKA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:   Anikka         Best Guess for Breed:   Rat Terrier mix    Best Guess for Age:   4 years as of June 2024       SEX:    female   Approximate Weight: 17.2 lbs.   Gets Along With:   other dogs and was friendly with the cat in her Foster’s home. Annika hasn't been seen with kids but we can test.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home    Anikka is Looking For:   A home filled with love and fun! At 4 years old, Anikka wants to settle down for good and not have to wonder where her next meal will come from or how people will treat her. She may not be a bouncy puppy anymore but small terriers like Annika are known for remaining active well into their senor years. Don't look at the size of this little girl and think for a moment that she can't jump!   Rat terriers are smart dogs and considered among the easiest to train, which makes them loads of fun to have around. Small terriers do best in homes that can keep them busy. Daily walks, trips to the dog park or doggie daycare, neighborhood dogs to befriend, and people to enjoy their antics will make Annika happy. Indoor games like puzzle toys will provide mental stimulation and keep her from getting bored on rainy days. She made the trip to DC all the way from Texas just to find her forever family! What My Foster Says About Me: Anikka is a sweetheart! She napped on the couch with my cat and slept in her crate overnight. She did all her business outside the house and walks well on leash. Anikka gets a bit nervous around dogs who are much bigger than she is. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and transport from the shelter. Story
It breaks our hearts, but we need to find a new family for our beloved Autumn. We adopted her in 2017 when she was just 7 months old. Now 7 years old, she is a small breed adult dog with an all-black coat, looking like a perpetual Labrador puppy. Autumn is a gentle and loving companion. She adores snuggling and being by your side, gets along well with children and other pets, and is house-trained. She loves daily walks, playtime, and cozy evenings on the couch. Her affectionate nature makes her an ideal family pet. She's instant best friends with whomever is willing to give her belly rubs. Our lives have become too busy, with increasing travel, to give her the attention she deserves. We are seeking a loving home where she can continue to thrive and be cherished. If you can provide Autumn with a loving home, please reach out. Thank you for considering giving our sweet girl a new family.
