Story
Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. He will be a wonderful addition to a family that matches his lifestyle.   If you want a new best friend, Buddy is perfect for you. To learn more about adopting him, contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or 615-943-7311. Approved application and adoption fee required.    July 1, 2026, 8:43 am

Story
Meet Morsel, a gentle young adult whose world hasn’t always been predictable—but who is steadily learning that love, safety, and comfort are real. Rescued from a hoarding situation, Morsel came into foster care frightened, overwhelmed, and unsure of the world around her. Today, she is making remarkable progress. While she still needs an understanding adopter willing to give her time to settle in, she grows more confident every day. She’s learning to trust, discovering the comfort of routine, and beginning to enjoy all the little things that make a house feel like home. Affection is no longer something she shies away from—in fact, she often returns it with sweet little kisses of her own. Because of her past, Morsel can be wary of unfamiliar people and new situations. She does best when introductions are slow and pressure-free, allowing her to observe and decide when she’s ready to engage. Once someone earns her trust, her affectionate, sweet nature shines through, and the bond she forms is incredibly rewarding. Morsel learned to use pee pads in her previous life, but once she feels comfortable in her environment, she is fully potty trained. She is making steady progress with her leash skills in quieter settings where she feels secure and continues to gain confidence with each outing. Morsel is crate trained, though she doesn’t need to be crated, rides nicely in the car, and is becoming more comfortable being picked up when necessary once she trusts her person. While she isn’t ready for a busy, unpredictable lifestyle, patience and consistency help her continue to blossom. She already knows how to sit for treats and loves to play, romp around, and show off her zoomies. Other dogs are truly Morsel’s safe place. She is wonderful with dogs of all sizes, naturally submissive, and must have a confident canine companion in her adoptive home to help guide and reassure her. She looks to other dogs for comfort and confidence, making a canine friend essential to her continued success. Because of her sensitive nature, Morsel would do best in a quieter household. Older, respectful children who understand the importance of giving her space and allowing her to build trust at her own pace would be the best fit. Morsel also has one impressive—and important—talent: she can climb chain-link fencing like a tiny spider woman. Because of this, her adopter will need to take extra precautions to keep her safe as she adjusts to her new home. Since her leash skills are still developing, careful supervision and secure outdoor access are important. Morsel won’t be an instant, outgoing companion—but for the right person, she will be something even more meaningful. She is the kind of dog whose love is earned slowly, quietly, and deeply. The bond you’ll build with her won’t happen overnight, but it will be one of the most rewarding relationships you can imagine. If you believe in patience, in progress, and in the joy of watching a dog discover just how loved she can be, Morsel may be the one you’ve been waiting for. Morsel is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and is ready to head home. www.mostlymuttz.org Link to Morsel’s bio: https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2641184&name=Morsel Morsel is in our Meet Me Program: Dogs featured in our Meet Me Program are participating simply because their foster or a dedicated volunteer is willing and able to take part—this is not based on breed, personality, behavior, or how long a dog has been waiting for a home. Because Mostly Muttz Rescue does not have a physical shelter location, this program allows adopters to connect directly with the people who know each dog best. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions, learn more about daily life with the dog, and even schedule an individual meet & greet at an approved location—either before applying or while your application is pending. To get started, email meet_me@mostlymuttz.org with your contact information, and the dog’s foster or volunteer will be in touch. #mostlymuttzrescue #adoptabledogs #jrtlove ##2641184##
