WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: RaiderBREED: Rat Terrier DOB: Jan 17, 2026 (9 weeks)GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Raider would do best in a home that can provide a safe, structured, and loving environment. A puppy-proofed space, a consistent routine, and patience for training are important. An active home that can offer supervision, playtime, and positive reinforcement will help him grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.Personality: Raider is a playful and active pup with a super sweet personality. He loves spending his time playing with toys and having fun with his foster sister, always ready for a game or some excitement. His affectionate nature and playful energy make him a fun and loving companion who enjoys both activity and companionship.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Raider is already wee wee pad and crate trained. He is currently working on basic puppy skills and leash exposure. He is learning household routines and will benefit from consistency, positive reinforcement, and continued practice. With patience and structure, he will continue to make great progress.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Raider were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Being so young, he benefits greatly from having a role model, and he absolutely loves the companionship. Cyclone is very playful and would do best in a home where he has a furry sibling to romp around with, helping him burn off energy while continuing to learn and grow.Personality: Cyclone has a playful and affectionate personality that continues to blossom more each day. He absolutely loves squeaky toys and anything that crinkles, and he enjoys playing tug-of-war with his foster sibling. Hes already picking up great habitshe can sit for treats, loves lounging in a sunny bay window, and happily curls up on a soft blanket for cozy naps. While he may be a little shy when first meeting new people, he warms up quickly and soon shows his loving side, showering you with plenty of kisses.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Cyclone is still learning some basic training and would benefit from continued guidance and patience. Cyclone thrives in homes with plenty of space to explore and play. He enjoys having room to roam, stretch his legs, and satisfy his curious, playful nature, making a larger indoor or outdoor area ideal for him to stay happy and active. Hes also learning leash skillstraditional collars seem to bother him, so a harness might be more comfortable and help him feel more confident on walks. Cyclone has made great progress with potty training on pee pads and is starting to get the hang of going outside as well; he successfully went potty outside on a warmer day, and with more mild weather, outdoor potty training should become easier and more consistent.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Cyclone were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. Story
Sweet Elsa is one of the girls from the "frozen litter" that was surrendered to rescue at 6 weeks old. We were allowed to spay her mom before returning her to her family. Both parents are under 15lbs. She is a spunky little girl now looking for her own family. She has been completely vetted and microchipped. She is pee pad trained and just started house training. She will need a family that is will to continue to work with her training and understands puppies can be a lot of work. She will make a wonderful addition to any family. She is fostered in Knoxville TN, but transport to a location near you is provided by Rescue Riders LLC and is included in the adoption fee.
