Story
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: Cyclone BREED: Rat Terrier DOB: Jan 17, 2026 (20 weeks)GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Cyclone would truly thrive in a home with another dog, as he looks to his canine companion for guidance, comfort, and confidence in his daily routine—from mealtime to training to settling down to sleep. Being so young, he benefits greatly from having a role model, and he absolutely loves the companionship. Cyclone is very playful and would do best in a home where he has a furry sibling to romp around with, helping him burn off energy while continuing to learn and grow.Personality: Cyclone has a playful and affectionate personality that continues to blossom more each day. He absolutely loves squeaky toys and anything that crinkles, and he enjoys playing tug-of-war with his foster sibling. He’s already picking up great habits—he can sit for treats, loves lounging in a sunny bay window, and happily curls up on a soft blanket (or your lap) for cozy naps. While he may be a little shy when first meeting new people, he warms up quickly and soon shows his loving side, showering you with plenty of kisses.KIDS: YesDOGS: Yes CATS: YesTraining: Cyclone is still learning some basic training and would benefit from continued guidance and patience. Cyclone thrives in homes with plenty of space to explore and play. He enjoys having room to roam, stretch his legs, and satisfy his curious, playful nature, making a larger indoor or outdoor area ideal for him to stay happy and active. He’s also learning leash skills and building his confidence on walks. Cyclone has made great progress with potty training outside. He’s also doing well with crate training and has learned its safe and cozy place to rest. WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Story
Imagine driving down a rural country road on the way to pickup groceries, when out of the brush comes 2 walking Halloween skeletons.  That is what  Benjamin and his partner Olive looked like when we took them home.  Benjamin is a sweet JRT mix that is about 2 years old and weighs 27 lbs. He loves to play and destuff all of his stuffed animals. When his energy runs out, he will snuggle next to you on the couch. He is a smart boy and will keep you on your toes. Benjamin is learning house manners and will stay in a crate. Benjamin walks well on a harness but beware of squirrels. Because of his high prey drive, absolutely no cats!!! A fenced yard is highly desirable but not a necessity. he can always go out on a leash but never off leash when not in  fenced yard .      If you love the energy and personality of a jack russell, then benjamin, we'll check all the boxes that you are looking for.  Please email critter cavalry rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.    please inform us where you live, city and state since we R based in Tennessee. But we do transport out of state to the northeastern corridor.      PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 20, 2026, 3:36 pm

Story
Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. He will be a wonderful addition to a family that matches his lifestyle.   If you want a new best friend, Buddy is perfect for you. To learn more about adopting him, contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or 615-943-7311. Approved application and adoption fee required.    June 20, 2026, 3:36 pm

Story
ONLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION IN NEW JERSEY AND LOCAL SURROUNDING AREAS!!! If your application is a possible match, a volunteer will get back to you within 48 hrs. No inquiries, please, without an application. Birdie is a one year old rat terrier who was surrendered after her owner could no longer take care of her. She came to us extremely shy and shut down. She was petrified of any loud noise or sudden movements. Now that she has been in a foster home for a few weeks, she is coming out of her shell, running and playing with the other foster dogs and not tucking her little nubby tail between her legs. Although Birdie lives with other dogs, we believe she would be happy in a quiet adult only home as the only animal. She loves her foster mom and now enjoys pets, butt scratches and belly rubs. Birdie will need some more socializing work and some major TLC but she will be an amazing dog once she gains more confidence. If you are interested in Birdie, Please go to bfdaaa.com to complete an application. June 19, 2026, 9:12 am
