Story
Meet Ruby – the Sweet and Serene Rat Terrier mix. Ruby is an 8-year-old rat terrier with a heart full of love and a calm spirit. She spent her entire life in a quiet, loving home until her beloved daddy was placed into long-term care for Alzheimer’s. Now, she’s looking for a new family to share her gentle soul with. Ruby is a quiet and sweet girl who enjoys leisurely walks and exploring her surroundings at her own pace. She walks beautifully on a leash and is perfectly content lounging nearby or finding a sunny spot to nap. Having come from a peaceful home, Ruby would thrive in a similar environment—one where she can feel safe, loved, and unhurried. She is fine with children and other dogs, though she’s not one to join in the chaos—she prefers doing her own thing and being a quiet observer. If you’re looking for a calm, easygoing companion with lots of love to give, Ruby may be your perfect match. Let’s give this lovely girl the soft landing she deserves. Story
How does a young, beautiful, and super sweet gal like Missy find herself homeless? That's the question everyone was asking when she turned up in a neighborhood in good condition but clearly afraid and on her own. Her finders report that she was anxious and shy at first, not comfortable being handled, and even snappy with strangers wanting to reach for her, but once she gets to know you and feels comfortable, she wants nothing more than to love and play. Missy is 1 ½ years-old and an accomplished toy fiend: balls, ropes, puzzles – toss her a toy and she is ready for action! Outdoors, she likes to chase birds around then sunbathe in a warm patch. Time for a walk? She loves that! And nothing seems to get her more excited than car rides. When she first came into her finders' home, she seemed unaccustomed to being patted and caressed but it didn't take too long for her to discover that affection is a good thing and she has added cuddling on the couch as an item on her 'favorites' list! At just 16 lbs., she is the perfect size for that. Unsurprisingly, Missy has some anxiety about being left alone, but when crated she is generally quiet and calm. She has made great progress with her house-training, and has become quite reliable when she gets ample opportunity to go outside. While her overall anxiety has decreased since being taken in, she still gets very shaken at loud noises or any type of raised voice, and doesn't seem comfortable around brooms when they're being used. Unpredictable young children would probably be too much for her, but she would likely do well with older kids who are interested in a dog that is clever enough to learn some tricks! Currently she knows 'sit' and 'back', but she is eager to learn more. One thing she is NOT eager about, however, is other dogs and cats, who cause her great agitation, so she is seeking a new adoptive home where she can be an only pet. See more photos of Missy in her online album at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/missyBeginning March 1, 2025, our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs or $300 for puppies under 6 months old. Story
Angel is a gentle senior dog. She is hard of hearing and is occasionally incontinent of urine now at night. She mostly sleeps but does enjoy sunbathing in the back yard since it’s warmer. She gets along with other dogs and is passive, although she was totally alpha in her prime. She minds (if she can hear the command.) She is a sweet-tempered dog and enjoys being scratched and petted. She was a stray and the vet estimated her to be 1 year of age in 2011 when I rescued her. In her youth she was my tree climber; she gave those squirrels a run for their money! I can’t take her where I’m relocating and she deserves to live her remaining time in comfort with plenty of love.

Story
Sissy is an enterprising young lady who certainly represents her rat terrier and chihuahua heritage well. She is small in stature and lean, in part due o the fact that she stays busy sniffing and exploring her surroundings. She is a little cautious with strangers, but that usually is quickly forgotten after a good belly rub or scratch behind the ears. She will be a great companion to a lucky person. Our Furry Friendz are available for adoption through a screening process which includes but is not limited to: a completed application, 3 referrals, a home visit, and a vet referral prior to their furever home placement. The dogs are Spayed/Neutered, micro chipped, current on all vaccines and on heart worm/flea preventive.
