Story
Meet Sydney & Savannah – The Adorable Chiweenie Sisters! Sydney and Savannah are two irresistibly cute Chiweenie puppies looking for their forever homes! Born at the end of 2024, these little girls were found in a box on the side of the road alongside their mother, a Dachshund/Rat Terrier mix. Despite their rough start, they are thriving in their foster home and are ready to find families who will love them forever. With their short legs, long bodies, and pudgy little bellies, these two are as adorable as they come! They are playful, full of energy, and learning the ropes of being good little pups. From the start, they have done well with pee pad training, and their foster mom is working hard to help them become fully house-trained. Like all puppies, Sydney and Savannah will need guidance, patience, and training to grow into well-mannered adult dogs. They can be a handful at times, but they’re also endlessly fun and full of love! If you’re ready to add some puppy joy to your life, put in an application today to meet these sweet Chiweenie sisters! Adoption fee is $375 What does your puppy adoption fee include? It includes 3 sets of Parvo/Distemper, 2 Bordetella. Also includes Spay/Neuter, microchip, multiple dewormings, and the start of heartworm prevention. Rabies and fourth and final Parvo / distemper vaccine is not included due to age. Once you take your puppy to your vet to get him/her introduced, your vet will get you started on your own heartworm prevention, and the rabies vaccine went over the age of four months. Story
How does a young, beautiful, and super sweet gal like Missy find herself homeless? That's the question everyone was asking when she turned up in a neighborhood in good condition but clearly afraid and on her own. Her finders report that she was anxious and shy at first, not comfortable being handled, and even snappy with strangers wanting to reach for her, but once she gets to know you and feels comfortable, she wants nothing more than to love and play. Missy is 1 ½ years-old and an accomplished toy fiend: balls, ropes, puzzles – toss her a toy and she is ready for action! Outdoors, she likes to chase birds around then sunbathe in a warm patch. Time for a walk? She loves that! And nothing seems to get her more excited than car rides. When she first came into her finders' home, she seemed unaccustomed to being patted and caressed but it didn't take too long for her to discover that affection is a good thing and she has added cuddling on the couch as an item on her 'favorites' list! At just 16 lbs., she is the perfect size for that. Unsurprisingly, Missy has some anxiety about being left alone, but when crated she is generally quiet and calm. She has made great progress with her house-training, and has become quite reliable when she gets ample opportunity to go outside. While her overall anxiety has decreased since being taken in, she still gets very shaken at loud noises or any type of raised voice, and doesn't seem comfortable around brooms when they're being used. Unpredictable young children would probably be too much for her, but she would likely do well with older kids who are interested in a dog that is clever enough to learn some tricks! Currently she knows 'sit' and 'back', but she is eager to learn more. One thing she is NOT eager about, however, is other dogs and cats, who cause her great agitation, so she is seeking a new adoptive home where she can be an only pet. See more photos of Missy in her online album at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/missyBeginning March 1, 2025, our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs or $300 for puppies under 6 months old. If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. Story
***DFW area only-No Exceptions*** Brittle is a ~10 week (as of 3/13/25) old Rat terrier mix puppy. He was found stray with his brother Peanut. It’s dangerous for such young puppies to be in the shelter, so his foster mom brought him into the Legacy Humane fold! Brittle loves to be played with, enjoys jumping in laps, and is very social. He gives sweet kisses and likes to be held near your neck for snuggles. He loves to snuggle in your lap for a nap. He’s lively and fun. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be. Brittle is working on potty training is crate trained over night and for short periods during the day. Brittle would best be suited for a home with older kids due to his small size.  He is in a foster home with larger dogs and cat friends. He takes correction well from both the animal and human friends in his home. Current weight: ~10 lbs Projected weight 20-30 lbs    We are requesting a donation of $325 for the adoption which includes his neuter, three rounds of puppy vaccines, a rabies vaccine, microchip with registration, dewormer and a single dose of heartworm preventative.  If you're interested in meeting or adopting him, please complete an application on our website and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ Adopter will take puppy to an LHS approved vet to be neutered in May of 2025 per the spay/neuter agreement and in accordance to Chapter 828, Texas Health and Safety Code.  *Due to the high volume of applications and inquires for puppies as well as vetting needs, we will not be able to respond to or consider interest from those outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.   We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
