Story
If joy had ears, they’d look a lot like Brooklyn Cherry. This happy girl brings the kind of upbeat, feel-good energy that makes everyone around her smile without even trying. She’s always in a good mood, always ready for fun, and those expressive ears just add to her already irresistible charm. Beyond her adorable looks, Brooklyn Cherry is incredibly smart, dog friendly, loves her toys, and strikes that perfect balance between playful adventure buddy and snuggly companion. Watch her video and fall in love with her amazing personality: https://youtu.be/U_TBkOb-19M?si=Nl3KaCKo5UAzVATy Brooklyn Cherry is believed to be a Shepherd mix approximately 1-2 years old and currently weighs 54 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Just based off looks, there are sprinkles of so many amazing breeds that it's hard for us to narrow it down without doing a DNA test (which we would love to see if her future adopters do one). We can see Rhodesian Ridgeback with her coloring and frame, along with German Shepherd with those ears, and with legs like that, she may even have Great Dane sprinkled in there too. We may never know, but regardless of what her DNA says, she is the perfect blend in our eyes. Brooklyn is dog friendly and gets along well with other dogs who enjoy and can match her play style. She’s the “roughhousing in the yard” kind of girl -playful and physical, and so much fun to watch. When dogs are confident and enjoy that same type of play, she thrives. Brooklyn has made some wonderful dog friends who she plays beautifully with. You can see her big goofy grin and those paws in the air and know she is having a blast! Brooklyn would do best in a home with a moderately playful dog that likes to play and one that also likes to hangout and relax. If you don't have other dogs, that's okay too! She would be great as a solo dog as she does not need the constant play to keep her entertained or the companionship to help her open up and be comfortable. Brooklyn is a happy social butterfly all on her own and she would love to be the center of your world. Her basics are already solid too! Brooklyn is fully potty and crate trained, and a quick learner. She already knows some basic commands, like sit and has a pretty decent recall already. Brooklyn is fairly easy to walk on a leash and will be a great adventure buddy! She does pull occasionally out of excitement or if she wants to go sniff something but is easy to correct. She aims to please and loves to learn new things too. She knows how to sit, shake, down, and can learn so much more. This girl really can do it all. With the right training and guidance, there’s nothing you can throw her way she wouldn’t be able to do. She would be the perfect adventure companion to take with you on walks, hikes, and could even make a fantastic running partner. Yes, Brooklyn can be a super fun, active, adventurous girly but she also has a calm side as well. She seems to already have some level of understanding that play time is an outside luxury. Of course, she will play indoors with a toy or tennis ball if you want her to but she is really good about finding a spot on the couch with her favorite toy and is perfectly content doing her own thing. Brooklyn's dream home would have a big backyard where she can stretch those legs, smell all the smells, and a place where she can find that perfect spot in the grass to bake in the sun. She would do best with a semi-active family that wants to take their dog with them on hikes, maybe even looking for a running partner, and also wanting a snuggly companion after a full day of adventures. She can certainly do both after she's had some form of mental stimulation. We are willing to test Brooklyn Cherry with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Ledyba (named after the Pokémon; often shorted to 'Ledy') is my 9YO’s favorite of the puppies because she’s a fantastic cuddler and would curl up with him while he reads all day. She can be very timid to start, but once she’s settled in she’s right there with you, ready to curl up while you work or rest. She’s great on a leash, but sometimes new sounds can trigger a freeze response. Patience has been key in helping her move forward, and her confidence grows every day. She often “checks-in” on a walk, happy to be going on an adventure with you, and my younger kids can handle her without issue. Ledy can be a bit goofy. She doesn’t jump on people, but her zoomies do include loping around like a baby moose. Even so, she’s very aware of her body and I’ve had zero issue with her running into anyone or knocking anyone over. She asks so politely to climb into my lap and has the softest paws when she does it. Ledy’s perfect home would be one that gives her time to figure out new situations. You can apply directly for Ledy by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-833 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).

Story
Sweet Pixie came to us carrying a precious surprise — nine beautiful puppies. 🐶💕 And what an amazing mama she was! She raised every one of her babies with love and devotion. Now it’s finally her turn to be the baby. This 36 lb compact little 2 year old girl is on her way to getting her figure back and is looking better every day. She walks beautifully on a leash, making her the perfect walking buddy. Most of all, she truly loves everyone she meets. Sweet, gentle, and ready for attention, she’s soaking up all the affection she can get. After giving so much love, she’s more than ready to receive it. 💗 Pixie is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested ****** for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Looking for a shadow who’s more interested in your Friday night plans than the local dog park drama? Meet Kay, the ultimate people’s pup who is ready to be your new best friend! KayKay is the kind of dog who believes humans are the absolute center of the universe. While other dogs are busy chasing squirrels, Kay is busy figuring out how to get closer to you on the couch! She has a personality that radiates warmth, making her the perfect companion for someone who wants a loyal, devoted sidekick. She’s spirited, soulful, and ready to fill your home with a whole lot of love. Wait until you see her in action! Check out Kay’s adorable adoption video right here to see those tail wags for yourself! https://youtu.be/F2uTFAsozDo Kay is what we call a velcro dog in the best way possible. She doesn't just live in your house; she lives with you. Whether you’re working from home, Folded laundry, or just hanging out, Kay wants to be right there by your side. She’s not necessarily looking for a marathon partner; she’s more of a let's explore the backyard and then nap kind of girl. If you've been looking for a shadow that never leaves your side, Kay is your girl. We think KayKay is a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, but as with any rescue, her DNA is a fun mystery! At 29 lbs, she’s the dream passenger, just the perfect huggable size! Kay is currently thriving and learning the ropes of home life. She’s a smart cookie who understands the routine of a household. She’s the type of dog who would love a consistent routine where she knows exactly when the next round of pets is coming. She is currently thriving in her foster home and learning the ropes like a total pro. She’s a smart cookie who has the household routine down to a science. She knows exactly when "Pet O’Clock" is, and she will be there to collect her taxes. Highly treat-motivated? That’s an understatement. She’s basically a vending machine in reverse. You put the treat in, and she outputs Good Girl behaviors instantly! Best of all? This sweet girl is a friend to everyone. She currently lives with children and has proven to be wonderfully kid friendly. Whether she’s being a gentle companion for the little ones or a focused student during training time, KayKay is the ultimate family addition. When it comes to other dogs, KayKay is a polite socialite. She can live with other canine siblings, but she’s also a lady who knows her worth and isn't afraid to set a boundary if a playmate gets a little too pushy. She’d be a great match for a home with a mellow, respectful dog or she’d be perfectly thrilled to be your one and only and soak up every bit of the spotlight! KayKay recently had a meet and greet with a cat and was a total lady! We think she’d be a great roommate for a feline friend, and a kitty sleepover would be the ultimate test to see if they can become true BFFs. Because Kay likes to find her voice when she’s tucked away in her crate, she’s looking for a home with a yard rather than an apartment setting. She wants a place where she can bark her "hello" without worrying about the neighbors! Her ideal home is one where she gets plenty of human interaction and maybe a sunny spot in the grass to lounge in. Something truly cute about her? The way she looks at you like you’re the only person in the world because to her, you are! In short, Kay is a soulful, people loving treasure who is just waiting for a family to call her own. She’s got the loyalty, the looks, and a whole lot of love to give to the lucky person who brings her home. Ready to make KayKay the newest member of your family? PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. This strikingly handsome boy is looking for his forever home! Boone is a 2 year old mixed breed who is looking for a loving and accommodating home. We believe he is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mixed with some sort of bully breed, but we do not know for sure. Boone is very social and affectionate. He loves people and just wants to be the center of someone’s world. Boone thrives in a single dog home and does great with older kids. Boone does not care to bark much. He is house trained. Weighs about 55 pounds. Boone would be perfect for someone who is retired, works from home, or who could take him to work with them. Boone loves to go places and be included. He struggles with being crated and left alone, but has started to make progress with being left for very short amounts of time outside of a crate. Boones likes are car rides, tough chew bones, cuddles, The Lion King and being wrapped up in a blanket. He likes walks but needs a little practice and might try to chase a squirrel if he sees one. Boone is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. In New England.  To apply-https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
