Story
Hi, my name is Red Foreman, but my friends just call me Red, and I am told I am a very sweet boy. They think I am about 3.5 years old, 75 lbs, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. I came up from Arkansas where I had been living in a shelter a VERY long time- like years long…and I mean people years. But then NDLB got a whiff of me and brought me here to MN to start living life in a home, and I gotta say I am loving it. Shelter life just wasn’t for me- I was a little too shy to get noticed, but in a home setting, I am beginning to shine. Unlike my That ‘70s Show namesake, I am NOT grumpy, impatient, or hard to please. A little love, a bowl of food, and a good belly rub are about all I need to make me happy. I am also shy and a little skittish around new people, but I warm up fairly quickly for some pets. I have been very gentle with my foster mom and her friends. I did meet one man that I wasn’t so fond of and barked at him and backed away. I haven’t met any children yet, but they are probably fine. I have been good with my foster dog brothers, although I haven’t tried to interact much or initiate play. I did try that with my mom the other day, so she has hope I will eventually feel comfortable enough to try to play with my brothers as well. I even met some cat,s and they seemed fine too! My favorite spot is on the couch with you, but I am also a fan of my kennel, it makes me feel safe and I will go right in if you ask and stay quiet and content. After about 4 hours in there during the day while my mom works I sometimes bark and whine to get her attention to let me out, but I am fine in there overnight or when you are gone, I just don’t love not being in the same room as you. My mom has started letting me out some while she works and I usually just lay in her office in case she needs a few pets between her calls. I did have a few accidents in the house when I first arrived, but I think I have now figured out that I should do that outside. I am a dream on walks, no pulling or barking, I just stay right by your side! The one car ride I had made me a bit nervous, but overall seemed fine. Anyways, I would love to meet you and get to know you a bit better too! Hope to see you soon.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $425.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 26, 2025, 8:39 pm

Story
Hello, it’s nice to meet you! My name is Alicia, and I’m estimated to be a 1-year-old Catahoula leopard dog mix. I weigh 39 pounds. I have the same name as my foster mom, so my foster parents call me Aurora. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter, and boy am I happy to be free! My foster parents say I’m just about the sweetest girl ever. I love meeting new people and giving them kisses. I’m gentle, affectionate, and appreciative. Sometimes I jump up to give hugs, so you would need to watch me with little kiddos; that way I don’t accidentally knock them over. I have met many dogs of all sizes and loved them all! I like to play for short bursts and can entertain myself if my furry friends aren’t feeling active. I’ve had a small amount of exposure to cats and did just fine with them. My foster parents are impressed with my training so far! I like to lay in the kennel for naps and don’t mind sleeping in there at night. If I’m in a playful mood and have to be kenneled when you leave the house, I may bark for a little bit. My foster parents let me sleep in bed with them and I don’t make a peep all night. I am potty and leash-trained! Going on walks is a lot of fun and I especially like looking at the squirrels. Did I mention that I love toys? Stuffed animals are my favorite thing to chew on! My future family should know that I have bilateral hip dysplasia. The vet said I don’t need surgery right now, but it’s a real possibility when I’m older. For me to stay healthy, my family should commit to the following: 1) keeping me lean and active with low-impact exercise such as swimming or walks, 2) getting me on a prescription mobility diet such as Hill’s j/d, and 3) giving me a joint supplement like Dasuqin. My foster mom can give you more info! I know that sounds like a lot of work, but I promise I’ll make it worth your while. I’m an easy girl to love with my honey eyes and gentle soul. I can’t wait to find my forever home!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Cowabunga Dude!   Meet Rafael! He was born approximately March, 2024.  He came from a litter of 4. They named the puppies in the litter after the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!  We welcomed him into our home as our newest foster when he was around 5 weeks old. He was so tiny at 3 pounds that you could put him in your pocket. Boy has that changed! Today he weighs about 30 pounds! He's such a cute little snuggle bug. He loves to play and wrestle with his foster sister Wasp. He does great with our other two resident dogs as well! He's super friendly with everyone he meets. We're still working on the house training though. He will let you know when he needs to go outside to use the bathroom but if you don't stop what you're doing right away and let him out, he'll decide to just do his business wherever he's standing. He sleeps every night in crate with no issues at all. He gets along great with our children ages 8, 12, and 14. They love to sit and give him lots of love and attention. He'll even lay down and take naps with them while they're watch TV or playing video games.  Come check out Rafael and maybe you'll hit it off and your home could be his furever home!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
