Story
I'm Kingsley, a sweet and gentle 2-year-old, 74-pound Rottweiler mix. I'm an old soul -- sensitive, quiet, and kind. I'm great with dogs and cats, and I love people, too. I was found in Texas and taken in by a trainer who saw potential in me -- at first I was very shy, but I have learned to trust. I will benefit from a home with people who see how special I am and can give me love and support as I continue to come out of my shell! Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp, and someone will get right back to you.

Story
Cannoli is a 70lb "work-in-progress" powerhouse. When she arrived, she was a cartoon nightmare, iterally pulling me off my feet! After 2 months of structure, she’s a sweet, eager girl who just needs help finding her focus. The Reality: Our trainer describes her as a "total spazz." Her heart is gold, but her brain moves at 100mph. She struggles to focus long enough to "get it." She has a reliable "Sit" and is learning not to shred her bedding. The Quirks:Food Fixated: A world-class counter-surfer. She will try to take food from your hands or mouth! She requires crating during human mealtimes.Leash Monster: She doesn’t just pull; she propels. She needs a strong handler. No Cats: She's friendly but plays with cats like they’re 100lb dogs. Best in a cat-free home.Ideal Match: Fully housebroken but needs a strict routine. She needs an experienced large-breed owner who can handle a "maximum volume" personality. If you can handle the chaos, she’ll be your most loyal companion!

Story
Big Mac turns 2 in April, and is a 90-lb bundle of joy; affectionate, cuddly, and happiest when he’s close to his people. He has lots of energy, is very food motivated, and loves to play fetch. He also loves to train and learn new tricks/commands. At about a year-old Biggie really grew into his name, and we have realized that because of his size and strength, and the fact that we frequently have young children and visitors in our home, our busy (and somewhat chaotic) household isn’t the right fit for him. When he gets overstimulated he can get very jumpy and sometimes mouthy, especially with people of smaller stature. He has also displayed some fence/door reactivity that has made our guests and their kids nervous. Professional training has helped Biggie make a lot of progress with these habits, but we still feel like he would be better off in an adult-only home with a family who can offer him more consistent structure, exercise, and continued discipline and training.

Story
Meet our sweet and energetic 3 year old girl who is looking for a new home! She has a playful personality and absolutely loves to play soccer — kicking a ball around is one of her favorite things to do. She enjoys being active, spending time outside, and bonding closely with her people. She currently lives with two large dog sisters and does well with them, but she needs slow, proper introductions with other dogs to feel comfortable. Because of her personality, she would do best in a home without small pets and children. She would thrive with an owner who can give her plenty of exercise, attention, and playtime. In the right home, she will be a loyal, loving and fun companion who brings a lot of joy and energy.

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 7-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
