Story

Cannoli was left with me unexpectedly. She is very sweet and social, but it is clear she was never taught manners and needs a lot of training. I cannot keep her as I have a reactive dog who does not like her. I think she would do well with another dog in the house or as the only pet. It is hard to tell how she is with cats as mine avoid her, but I think she would be ok. We are working on house training, but a new adopter would have to continue this work. She is a power chewer and will shred anything she can, so a potential adopter needs to have a clutter-free home and understand she cannot have blankets in her kennel. She is also a counter surfer and not afraid to try to take food out of your mouth, which we are working on. Due to her size and unruly nature, she needs an owner who is experienced with large powerhouse dogs/breeds.

A spirited almost four-year-old Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix currently living in Blackwood, NJ, whose essence is a golden burst of affection wrapped in a 90-pound frame of playful energy and heart-melting cuddles. Misty is the kind of dog who makes herself known, not just by her stunning golden brown coat with white accents, but with the way she leans in close to rest her head on your chest, or showers you with kisses when you’ve had a long day. She’s a sweet-natured, medium-energy girl who absolutely adores people, especially kids, and thrives in environments filled with love, consistency, and room to stretch her long legs. Her favorite toy? A squeaky octopus that brings out her goofy, playful side every time! This affectionate girl is crate trained, house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She knows commands like “come,” “sit,” “lay,” and “stay”, though like any independent soul, she occasionally needs a reminder to follow through. She’s done well with short periods alone, especially when left with a chew bone (though she’s been known to redecorate with shredded paper if boredom strikes!). Misty has done great at doggie daycare, where structured settings and supervised play make her feel at ease. However, Misty must be the only animal in her home. She has severe resource guarding issues, particularly around food, and has had altercations with other dogs in the home. While she’s friendly with dogs in controlled environments, she cannot share living space or food areas with other animals. Misty shines with positive reinforcement and gentle, firm guidance. She responds beautifully to a calm but confident voice, especially when her excitement bubbles over into enthusiastic greetings (yes, she's a jumper, because she just can't wait to say hello!). Meet Queen, a 4-month-old Rottweiler mix who acts like any admirable queen would — by staying cool, calm and collected in the chaos. Queen is completely unbothered by the things that send other dogs into a frenzy. The dogs at her foster home are barking at the mailman, and Queen could care less! At a recent adoption event, the dogs next to Queen set off the alarm bells when another dog walked by … meanwhile Queen remained perfectly composed and quiet. Nothing fazes her! While being easygoing might be her most impressive quality, Queen is also sweet, smart and completely endearing. She’s very easy to love! According to a breed test done on Queen’s brother, Queen is half Rottweiler and the other half is made up of 16 different breeds! The second highest percentage is Labrador retriever, but she also has small percentages of some fluffy dogs like golden retriever and husky. Queen is extremely soft! Queen is currently perfecting potty training and crate training in her foster home. She sleeps quietly in her crate throughout the night. Queen is food motivated and eager to please her human. She’s looking for a forever home that will appreciate her already stellar qualities and do just a little work to perfect them.
