Story
Hello! My name is Chase! I am on the search for my forever family, I could do great in plenty of home dynamics, come meet me today so I can show you what I am all about!Chase has heartworm which means that this dog has parasitic worms in the right ventricle of the heart and nearby blood vessels. Heartworm is transmitted from one dog to another by mosquitoes and can be easily prevented using monthly heartworm preventative, but once the disease is contracted the treatment process can be quite intensive. Chase will need to remain sedentary with minimal activity during the treatment process to ensure a healthy recovery. There is additional information on heartworm disease and treatment available at our Adoption Desk.

Story
Hilda was pulled from Detroit Animal Care and Control. She's a small rottweiler (48 pounds) believed to be about 2 years old. Her current foster mom says she is the 'chilliest dog she's ever met, and unbothered by all the other dogs'. Hilda is heart worm positive and will be starting treatments soon. What does that mean? Only that she needs a calm environment to live in while being treated. No long walks or playing fetch in the back yard (nothing that will raise her heart rate by a lot). Once treatment is complete, running, playing, hiking, can resume. There are no residual side affects to the disease. Save Monroe Strays is with you the whole way through the treatment...for advice, coaching, support, and monetarily. We specialize in heartworm positive dogs. Please consider giving Hilda her permanent home to start relaxing in.
