Story
Hi there! My name is Pollo, and I’m an exceptionally intelligent boy who’s been waiting for my forever home at FMAR for over five years. When I first arrived as a stray, I was in rough shape, but I’ve come a long way since then. Now, I’m ready to show someone just how wonderful I can be! Many people thought I was predominantly Pit Bull Terrier, but thanks to a DNA test done by a volunteer, I found out my true heritage! I’m made up of: * 52% Rottweiler * 27% American Pit Bull Terrier * 16% American Staffordshire Terrier * 3% American Bulldog You can really see my Rottweiler coloring shine in the sunlight! I have big dreams of becoming an agility dog! The volunteers here set up obstacle courses, and I absolutely love showing off my jumping skills. When I’m not being active, I enjoy relaxing in the yard and soaking up the sun. I might be a bit shy when meeting new people, but give me a few treats, and I’ll be your best friend in no time! I would thrive best with an experienced owner who understands my behavioral challenges. Nowadays, I’m fairly laid back and love spending time with the volunteers. Once I get to know someone, I quickly settle down and just crave a little love and affection. A few short walks or some time in a fenced backyard is all the exercise I need, and I enjoy mental stimulation through games and obedience commands. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is eager to learn and love, come meet me, Pollo! I can’t wait to show you just how special I am. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care I have received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates on their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Rags is a very friendly and chill Rottie mix who was luckily rescued by his foster. He was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit. Rags currently lives with several other dogs and is very loving and sweet. It appeared he was not very well taken care of when found. He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. He had heartworm disease when we first got him but he was treated and is now healthy and heartworm negative. Rags is about 72 pounds and estimated to be about 9 years old. Rags has a good personality and would love to finally find a wonderful new family to love and care for him. This fellow definitely deserves it. Please consider making him a new addition to your home or companion for another friendly dog.

Story
For months, Debo has been waiting by the door, hoping his dad would come home. When his owner was hospitalized, kind neighbors stepped in to care for him, believing it was only temporary—that soon, they’d see the joyful reunion of a dog and his best friend. But that day never came. His dad has passed away, and now Debo is left with a heart full of love and no one to give it to. At six years old, this big, gentle Rottweiler still has so much life left to live. He is as sweet as they come—affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he’s close to his people. He adores human companionship, greets everyone with warmth, and just wants to be loved in return. He’s crate trained, well-mannered, and great with kids and other dogs, though he does need slow introductions as he forms deep bonds and can be a little too eager to show his affection. Debo isn’t just looking for a home—he’s searching for someone to fill the space in his heart that his dad left behind. He’s looking for a family to lean on, someone who will reassure him that he’ll never be alone again. Right now, he’s in a temporary foster home, but his time there is running out. He needs a safe place, whether that’s a foster family to help him heal or a forever home where he can finally feel secure again. Debo has so much love to give. Could you be the one to give him a second chance? Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Meet Robin Hood: A Gentle Soul Ready for His Forever Home Robin Hood’s story is one of resilience and hope. Once abandoned and emaciated, left to survive on his own, this sweet Rottweiler has come such a long way. Now, he’s ready to find the loving home he’s always deserved—a place where he can continue to heal and thrive. Robin Hood is a gentle spirit who marches to the beat of his own drum. He takes life at his own pace, needing a little extra time to adjust to routines and learn commands. But beneath his cautious demeanor lies a heart full of unconditional love. With patience and understanding, Robin Hood will reward his new family with a bond like no other. During his time at the shelter, Robin Hood has worked hard on training, meeting new people, and learning to accept and give affection. His unique personality makes every interaction with him special and deeply rewarding. Robin Hood would thrive in a calm, patient home without small children. While he’s non-reactive to dogs and could share his home with a canine companion, a proper and slow introduction will be key to his success. This sweet boy has endured so much, and his journey forward will require a family who sees his worth and is committed to supporting him as he navigates his new life. To ensure the best transition for Robin Hood, we’re currently considering foster-to-adopt homes for him. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this one-of-a-kind pup, apply now to start the next chapter of his journey. Robin Hood is waiting for the love and care he’s always deserved—could you be the one to give it to him? Story
Meet Gru, a shy yet sweet-natured adult dog. He`s a gentle soul who, though initially nervous, warms up to reveal a heart full of kindness and love. Gru`s friendly nature means he gets along well with everyone he meets, but he particularly enjoys quiet moments of companionship. His sweetness is a testament to his resilience, and his shyness, far from being a hindrance, only adds to his endearing personality. Gru is looking for a loving home where he can continue to grow and flourish. His gentle nature and loving heart make him the perfect addition to any family seeking a loyal, loving companion. Gru was a little nervous when meeting dogs here at the shelter, we recommend he meets all dogs in the home before adoption, he will likely do best with a calmer, dog-savvy dog who can take things slow with him and respect his boundaries. Adopt Gru today and experience a lifetime of happiness! The ideal home for Gru:- Children six years and older, recommend meet- Recommend meeting dogs
