Story
Meet Jerry (aka scoobs), We originally found him in the middle of nowhere where he had been dumped weeks before. When we first found him he was 16 pounds.. skin and bones. We took him to the animal hospital where they had taken him in and gave him everything he needed. From there he was transferred to the animal shelter where he was then given all his shots as well as fixed. We then got a call asking if we wanted to adopt him as the shelters are overly crowded and he would have not made it out. We took him in to find him his forever home (: Scoobs is around 1.6 years old Sharpei mix who is a hugeeee love bug. He loves to play and cuddle especially when going to bed at night. He will sleep by your side all night long. He is potty trained (has had 2 accidents but was right after surgery so understandable). With this all in mind he does come with some flaws as well. He has separation anxiety and PLAYFUL even though we are trying to break it). With this, he is VERY trainable

Story
DOB: August 2018Weight: 27 lbsDisposition: Confident, Inquisitive, PlayfulEthel was rescued on 5th August 2020 during a slaughterhouse closure together with another 14 dogs conducted by FOUR PAWS in Kampong Thom, Cambodia. After rescue she was housed at Animal Rescue Cambodia in Phnom Penh until she flew stateside at the beginning of December 2020 when she joined us at The Barking Lot.Ethel has the cutest little ears there ever was and their a dead giveaway for her Shar Pei roots! This lovely girl used to be timid around other dogs, especially at dinner time. Like many of our rescues who have been through traumatic experiences, she gets defensive about her food. The rest of the time, Ethel can be coy, but she is learning to trust again and is really relaxed with her caretakers. Ethel has a lovely, inquisitive nature and is building trust with new people daily. She enjoys handling and cuddles from people she trusts and is treat motivated. If you're interested in meeting Ethel, please visit our website and fill out an adoption application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The tale of Robby, a 10-year-old Boxer Mix, is a heart-wrenching illustration of how a dog can be considered homeless despite technically having an owner. For a decade, Robby endured a life of neglect, living in a dilapidated dog house barely fit for a rat, positioned just outside the home of his owner. Stripped of the basic necessities of care and nourishment, he had no choice but to resort to scavenging for food, begging passersby for scraps and water, all while defending himself from the other street dogs that roamed freely. This life of hardship took its toll on his health, leaving him riddled with infections and suffering from painful rotten and broken teeth due to his desperate attempts to eat whatever he could find. Fortunately, a glimmer of hope arose when concerned individuals turned to me for assistance. I understood that Robby’s situation was a call for compassion that could not be ignored. Upon his rescue, it became clear just how much love and care Robby had been deprived of over the years. With proper veterinary care and rehabilitation, this gentle soul began to regain his health, blossoming into a vibrant and affectionate companion. Robby’s journey is of survival and resilience!! When kindness finally entered his life after years of starvation and loneliness his soul came to life. However, the scars of his past linger on. Although Robby is now a sweet dog who adores human company, the years of ill treatment have left him with food and treat aggression. These behaviors are not indicative of his character but rather a reflection of his survival instincts honed in an unforgiving environment. We continue to help Robby by overcoming his feeling of being food deprived with training and he's doing so much better. We are committed to Robby!!! It’s believed that the best path for Robby is to live as an only dog, allowing him to bask in the one thing he has longed for throughout his tumultuous life—human kindness and love. Robby's story is not just a reminder of the plight of many animals; it serves as a call to action for compassion and understanding, driving us to provide every creature the loving home they deserve. I added Robby’s before pictures on his post so you can see what his life was like and to show how resilient a beautiful soul could be. Robby deserves to live the rest of his life in peace, comfort and with a lot of love which he thrives on. If you live in San Diego County, have a home with a secured yard and would love a wonderful companion dog then please complete our adoption application at tlck9rescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 9:16 pm

Story
How this pet arrived: Gloob was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team, on 5/2/2025. Why this pet is the one for you: Meet Gloob!! When he first arrived, Gloob was understandably a bit unsure-he showed signs of fear like a tucked tail and a nervous look, and he wasn't too sure about being leashed or touched. He even gave a little growl when someone got too close to his kennel-just his way of saying he needed a little space. With time, patience, and gentle encouragement, Gloob has made wonderful progress. His fearfulness has eased, and he's shown us his sweet, social side! He's been warming up to staff, accepting affection, and engaging more comfortably with the world around him. Due to his fearfulness and sensitivity, it is required that Gloob go to a home with no children under 10 years old. Gloob would thrive in a calm, understanding home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. Once he knows you're a friend, he's a loyal companion with a heart full of love. At SDHS:Gloob has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Gloob is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Brown Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 67.4 Age: 2yrs 1mths 1wks
