Meet Dirk – A Resilient and Loving Companion Dirk is a 5.5-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei/Black Mouth Cur mix who recently came to us from the Lancaster Animal Shelter. He weighs around 44 lbs and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Despite a tough past—Dirk was injured in a kennel incident with another dog—he remains incredibly sweet and friendly. His right side was shaved for treatment, but he's healing well and his spirit is stronger than ever. He’s about 3 years old, weighs about 46 lbs, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Hugo is great with people and does well with other dogs. He’s currently working with our trainers and continuing to learn and thrive. This sweet, loyal boy is looking for a loving family who will give him the happy life he deserves. Meet Winnie, an affectionate and curious dog who enjoys an active lifestyle and close companionship with her people. She loves walks, playtime with balls and tug toys, working on treat puzzles like snuffle mats, and relaxing for belly rubs and ear scritches. Winnie is house trained, friendly with people she knows, and has done well around other dogs in a variety of settings. Winnie already knows several cues using hand signals, including sit, down, and touch, and has been working on learning “middle.” She enjoys learning and benefits from positive reinforcement training that builds trust and confidence. Winnie would thrive in a patient home that respects her boundaries and allows her time to build trust. She has medium-to-high energy, enjoys staying active, and does best with another dog in the home for companionship. With thoughtful introductions and continued enrichment, Winnie is a loving, engaging companion who enjoys being part of everyday life. When I first brought her home at five months old, she had come all the way from Canada and hadn't had much of an opportunity to socialize with the world yet. Because of that early start, she can be hesitant around new people—especially men—but once she trusts you, you become her entire world. At her core, she is an incredibly sweet, loving, and playful dog. She is a devoted cuddler who just wants to be close to the people she feels safe with. She is also deeply loyal and naturally protective of her home, which she views as her sanctuary. Because she is cautious and needs time to warm up to new faces, she would absolutely thrive in a quieter, more predictable environment. Her perfect match would be a single female owner, or a calm couple who can give her the patient, loving space she needs to feel secure. I want to be completely open about her care needs: she does have some allergies that cause skin issues, so she will need a family willing to manage that, and her shots are currently du
