Story
Meet Mia – A Resilient, Playful, and Loving Companion! Mia is a 4-year-old, 30-pound sweetheart who’s come a long way since she was found on the streets of Kansas City, Kansas. She has blossomed into a confident, affectionate pup who’s ready for her forever home. These days, Mia loves being a ride-along buddy—she enjoys running errands, exploring home improvement stores, and meeting new people (especially those with treats!). She’s gentle when taking snacks from both her foster and friendly strangers, and her social confidence continues to grow every day. Mia is leash-trained and also worked with professional trainers to build her confidence and reduce her fear-based reactions. She’s made amazing progress and knows several commands, including sit, wait, with me, come, kennel, and is currently learning leave it. She’s crate-trained and happily settles in with a peanut butter Kong. At home, Mia is a great balance of playful and calm. She loves romping in the yard, playing chase or wrestling with her foster sister, and showing off her epic zoomies before curling up in a cozy spot for a nap. Mia can be protective of her resources around other dogs, but she’s making steady progress. She would thrive either as an only dog or with a larger, calm, and playful canine companion. She’s not a fit for homes with cats or young children. Mia can jump a short fence, so she’ll need a home with a tall, secure privacy fence or an adopter committed to leash-walking her for potty breaks. Mia has a big heart and is ready to share it with the right person or family. If you're looking for a loyal, smart, and affectionate dog who’s already put in the work to become her best self—Mia might just be the one! If you are interested in meeting Mia, please fill out an application via our website at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TRP/Dog and we will get back to you via email once your application has been reviewed. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us at adoptionstrp@gmail.com. Mia's adoption fee is $100 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, spay, microchip, deworm, heartworm testing.

Sky DOB: 01/25/2026 Sky is the kind of puppy who shows up and immediately makes herself part of the action. At just 9 weeks old, she’s already confident, curious, and full of personality. She loves to play (tug is a favorite), explore everything around her, and then crash when she’s done being busy. She’s doing great in a home environment: Good with other dogs Curious and appropriate with cats Good with kids Doing well with kennel training Already heading to the door when she needs to go out She’s an active puppy who will do best with a family ready for all the normal puppy things—training, structure, and keeping her mind busy as she grows. Sky is expected to be a medium-sized bully mix (best guess) when full grown. If you’re looking for a fun, social, smart puppy who is already off to a great start, Sky is ready to meet you. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Story
Meet Cinder 🖤 Approx. 3 years old • ~45 lbs • German Shepherd (DNA confirmed) Cinder is settling into foster life and doing amazing. With her last puppy now in another home, she’s finally able to relax—and her personality is really starting to shine. She’s engaged with her foster family, doing well with the other dogs in the home, and showing what a great companion she is. That protective mama instinct she once needed? She’s letting that go and stepping into a more easygoing, connected version of herself. Cinder is crate trained, potty trained, and has adjusted nicely to a home routine. She has that classic German Shepherd personality—smart, observant, and tuned in to her people—but with a calm, steady presence that makes her easy to live with. She’s the kind of dog who bonds closely and becomes part of your everyday life—happy to be nearby, involved, and included. Cinder came into our program after we helped place her puppies and covered her spay. She remained with her owner at the time, but months later, due to a change in circumstances, she joined our program and is now ready for a home of her own. She’s past the chaos of raising puppies and ready for her next chapter—one where she gets to just be someone’s dog.
