Story
Hi there! I'm Traveler, an incredibly sweet-as-pie 9-year-old German shepherd mix. Oh boy, have I had some exciting adventures in my well-traveled life! I just can't help but love every single person I meet. Plus, I'm super smart! I've already learned so many cool tricks like "sit, stay, shake, down, roll over, and kennel up." Being energetic and young at heart, I absolutely thrive on running and playing. It's my ultimate joy! I get along great with other dogs, but when it comes to cats, small furry creatures, or any nearby farm animals, well, let's just say I'd rather keep my distance. That I truly long for is a home filled with lots of humans who can shower me with cuddles galore! If you're looking for a furry companion who's overflowing with love and happiness, look no further because I'm here ready to embark on new adventures with you! Just let Melissa's know, and they'll contact my foster mommy. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Frida is a mellow girl who is looking for her forever home. Frida does well with other dogs, and seems fine around cats as well. She prefers not to be kenneled, so her foster family allows her to roam. She's very good about not being destructive when she roams the house. Frida is super sweet and loves being around people. She's had a lot of babies throughout her life, and she's ready to finally settle down and enjoy life with her new family.

Story
Lucy is the definition of a sweetheart. Once she meets you and gets used to you, you'll have a forever best friend! Lucy is a smart girl which is consistent with a German Shephard dog. She has the perfect amount of energy to be a great companion. Lucy does well playing with other dogs and gets along great with kids! She spent quite a bit of time in a shelter, but learned to potty outside within a day of being at a foster home. She also learned how to "sit" quickly even though it was evident she has not had training up to this point in her life. Similarly, she is just starting to discover the world of toys and has fun playing with squeaky toys but hasn't learned how to fetch them yet. She is now accustomed to sleeping in her kennel, but she would prefer to sleep with her human(s) I'm sure. Lucy is GREAT at walking on the leash and pulls little compared to similar sized dogs. She truly is a sweetheart and would make the greatest addition to almost any family! Lucy may not be well suited to being outside in a yard by herself. She is reported to have jumped a fence or 2. However, this foster mom swears that she has shown no interest at all in jumping the fence at all and happily runs back and forth with her foster siblings. Lucy would jump a fence if her humans are on the other side! If you are looking for a great medium sized, sweet companion, please consider adopting Lucy!

Story
Meet Chase Reuben, a 3 1/2-year-old Shepherd mix rescue dog who's ready to find his fur-ever home! This goofy, happy boy weighs in at 66 lbs and has a heart of gold. Chase Reuben can be a little timid around new people, but he warms up quickly and is a total sweetheart. This handsome boy is crate trained and house trained, so he's ready to move right in with his new family. Chase Reuben loves to play with balls and stuffed animals, and he's always up for a game of fetch. He's a smart boy who would love to learn new tricks and commands - he's a quick learner! Chase Reuben is a wonderful companion who's looking for a home where he can be the center of attention. He's a little too interested in small animals, so he'd do best in a home without them. He loves people and would be a great fit for a family with older kids. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Chase Reuben is your boy. He's a total goofball who's sure to put a smile on your face every day. Come meet him and see if he's the missing piece to your family puzzle

Story
To apply for Zeus click this link: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 Zeus is a 9 year old black lab mix. He is about 50 pounds and is an extremely sweet, loving, loyal dog. He spends most of his days curled up on the couch. He enjoys going on walks and chasing after squirrels in the backyard. He is still very healthy and active and loves to go on walks (although he doesn’t need to daily by any means) and can go on 1-2 mile runs before getting tired. We think Zeus would be a great dog for a younger or older person who is looking for companionship as he is extremely chill and laid back and house broken. He would also be a good dog for a family that has older children as he is house-broken and does not require a lot of attention.Zeus belonged to the same young couple for 10 years and they recently had a baby. Once the baby became mobile, Zeus was exhibiting some resource guarding behaviors. Zeus worked with a dog trainer and was responding very well to the treatment but with a small child in the house, the couple didn’t have enough time to work through behavior modification training with Zeus and after speaking with their veterinarian, they decided to try to find Zeus a new home. He never bit the child but would grumble when the child would come near things Zeus perceived as his. He’s been around older children many times in his life and there’s been no issues but would be best in a house without small children. The family is very eager to help Zeus find a loving home as he’s been an unbelievably sweet and loving companion.September 28, 2023, 8:58 am

Story
Hey everybody, my name is Mae! I am a sweet, laid-back type of gal who's looking for a forever home. It took awhile for me to get where I am now because I was found as a stray and pretty much on the brink of death according to the people who rescued me. I only weighed 35lbs! I am up to 40 lbs. right now. I have an older foster sister who I try to get to play with me but it's tricky because she can't move that fast. I do have two other human foster sisters who I think are pretty cool. My foster mama feeds me in my kennel because I can be a little protective of my food. Lucky 13 had me checked out by the vet and they said the reason why I was so sick was because I have this disease called Endocrine Pancreatitis Disease. Now don't worry, it's not that bad. It just means my pancreas doesn't have the ability to produce sufficient pancreatic enzymes to digest fats, carbohydrates, and proteins so that means I'm on a special diet and enzymes. My foster mom has been feeding me Purina Pro Plan Endo and an enzyme powder. She mixes 2 tsp in my powder twice a day. She said it lasts about a month to a month and a half. I have been eating 3 times a day so I can get to the ideal weight. They said I should be about 60 lbs. Because I was so sick I didn't want to play very much and I'm just now discovering my toys! I love to play now! My favorite things are these round green things. My foster mom says they're tennis balls. They bounce so much! Also, I do like a game of tug of war. I always win! Since I discovered toys, I have also discovered my two-legged sisters' toys. My foster mom says I can't have them, but I try to hide them in my kennel anyway (they usually find them before I can chew them up). I am kennel trained and typically sleep through the night. If I do get up, it's to go to the bathroom and then I'll go right back to sleep. If you have any other questions about me, please ask! Mae will come fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt Mae today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Frieda is 5 months old and will come spayed, up to date on all vetting, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300. You couldn't ask for a better puppy than Frieda! This girl is an all star: super smart, playful but well behaved, and gets along with everyone she meets. Frieda is still young so she will need some guidance with puppy behaviors, but she has an amazing foundation to build on. She currently goes out in playgroups all day everyday and would love a canine friend in her furever home, though it is not required. Apply to meet Frieda! September 28, 2023, 8:58 am

Story
Meet Uma, a captivating and diligent shepherd who belongs to the esteemed working class. With an undeniable eagerness to learn, Uma thrives on positive reinforcement and affectionate interaction. Her endearing nature reflects a deep reliance on a firm and capable individual to guide her towards productivity. She is a beautiful, unique looking, two year old German Shepherd that finds herself at KC Pet Project due to not being a good fit with the house/living arrangements. Uma is a working dog and so does need a home with the space to get out her energy. Uma likes having a 'job', and is very trainable. She loves to take in all the smells while out on walks and she also loves car rides and is very food motivated. Uma would be ideal for someone well-versed in the admirable qualities of shepherd breeds, Uma promises to be an outstanding addition to a loving and understanding home environment. My ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.

Are you the adventurous type? Do you like hiking, backpacking and enjoying the solitude of nature? If so, Gooby might be a good companion to tag along. He enjoys affection too. Come meet Gooby and let staff assist with a dog to dog introduction. My ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Noel is a goofy, beautiful, carefree, energetic and very loving girl who just wants to have fun. She loves playing with the other dogs, going on walks, or just generally doing whatever her foster family is doing. She's going to make someone a fantastic buddy and companion. BACKSTORYNoel came to MOGS after she was seized by animal control for cruelty. She was starved, dehydrated and left outside with no shelter. She is currently is a foster home. TEMPERAMENT / BEHAVIOR Noel is amazing. She was seized for extreme cruelty but despite her suffering she still loves people. She's a sweet little girl who is very soft, friendly and goofy. She wants to greet everyone and will be very vocal about it. She loves being in the same room with her humans and will follow everywhere. She acts as a tripping hazard since she picks the least out of the way spot to lay down, especially in the kitchen. She does tend to sniff the counter and floor for yummies but has never jumped up to grab anything. Will try her best to reach into a high chair to get leftovers but will leave it if told to. Her foster family doesn't leave things towards the edge of counters so she is not given the opportunity to steal anything. She does like to chew on stuffed animals and does not know the difference between her toys and baby's toys so her foster family does their best to just keep non-dog toys off the floor. Like most GSDs Noel is a super shedder, her fur is very thick. TRAININGShe's learning basic manners and doing very well. She is food driven which will help with her training. The first new behavior she had to practice was waiting at baby gates or backyard fences. She has climbed a fence to follow her person on the other side. With a 6 ft fence she will be fine, with a somewhat lower fence, she will need complete supervision in the backyard to avoid escaping. She sometimes jumps baby gates to be closer to her people. She is pretty good at listening and has learned the sit command. She is house broken and crate trained. She does okay on a leash and is currently walked with a combo of the martingale collar and a gentle leader for better control. She can get a bit wild and unruly when other dogs are near since she wants to go say hi and play. Her future family will need to spend the time to exercise her and stimulate her, and finish her training using good canine leadership skills. OTHER ANIMALSNoel gets along with most dogs; she just wants to play. Sometimes she plays too rough for other dogs because she is so excited. She does not seem to understand her size and she is very fast moving. Currently lives with her foster siblings, a 25lb dog and a 12lb chiweenie. Noel does seem to respect the smaller dog's space. Noel would do best with a same size and energy level doggie buddy to play and romp with. She's still got a lot of puppy in her and occasionally doesn’t notice when other dogs tell her they're tired, so you may have to remind her that play time is over. She takes correction easily and is perfectly willing to go inside and let the other dogs rest. Noel has a mild-to-moderate small prey drive and cannot be in a home with cats. PEOPLENoel does well with adults and is very good with kids. She has been very patient with the human toddler in her foster home. When the young one gets a little crazy, she for the most part handles it very well. She has learned the command 'escape' or move away from toddler reach. When she has reached her limit, she will let him know with a nudge or growl but has never shown aggression. Noel is a large, strong and energetic dog who has the potential to be too rough in play and knock a child over, or collide with a child. As with all large dogs, she must be supervised around small children just to be sure things don't get too rough. MEDICAL Up-to-date on all vaccines, has a current rabies tag, is spayed and has been microchipped. She was originally heartworm positive but has been treated and is heartworm free. Noel has a toenail that grows up and over but doesn't appear to cause her any discomfort other than when she has her nails trimmed. At some point prior to coming to MOGS, Noel suffered from a LEFT hind leg femur fracture that did not receive any treatment, so healed slightly misaligned. Because of this, she does sometimes experience discomfort in that leg and requires intermittent pain management with an anti-inflammatory pain reliever. She also receives joint supplement support on a daily basis. Noel's injured leg has been assessed by her regular vet, as well as orthopedic experts at Blue Pearl, and both experts agree this will be a chronic monitoring situation which will need intermittent pain management for life. Even though Noel has medium to high energy, this leg can sometimes significantly limit her activity due to discomfort. At those times, she will do best with short walks around the neighborhood, just not too far as she cannot handle it. Noel has no other known medical issues.   If you're looking for a gorgeous, trainable furballwho will love you forever,NOEL is your girl! NOEL'S ADOPTION FEE:   $300This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so oINTERESTED IN ADOPTING NOEL?Complete an Adoption Application Now!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER! We're picky about our adopters.  Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They 'mouth' and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.   Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!! What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby?
