Story
Hi, Im Winston! Im a fun-loving, goofy guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. I love to play, explore, and be part of whatever my humans are doing. Once Ive burned off my energy, though, my favorite place in the world is right next to my personpreferably snuggled under a blanket where I can soak up all the cuddles. Im proud to say Ive graduated from the puppy destruction phase...mostly. Every now and then, if I get bored, I might remind you that I still have a mischievous streak. For example, cat food left on the counter is simply too tempting to ignore. Can you really blame me? My foster parents did a DNA test, and it turns out Im mostly American Pit Bull Terrier with a splash of Perro de Presa Canario. I guess that makes me one pretty unique package! Ive already mastered a lot of the important stuff. Im fully potty trained and crate trained, and Im not shy about reminding you if its time for a potty breakor, more importantly, if youre running behind on my meal schedule. I know commands like "sit," "stay," "down," "shake," and a few others, and my foster mom says Im super smart. Personally, I think Im just highly motivated by snacks. Give me a treat, and Im ready to learn just about anything. I go on daily walks, and I absolutely love them. Theres so much to see, smell, and investigate! Sometimes I get a little distracted because the world is full of fascinating things, but my foster mom has been teaching me to check in with her using eye contact. Im getting better every day. Im also what you might call an enthusiastic greeter. I get so excited to meet people that I sometimes forget all four paws are supposed to stay on the ground. Were working on my "off" command, and I promise Im trying my best! If you ever ask me what my perfect day looks like, it would definitely include a car ride. I LOVE car rides. Windows down, ears flapping, nose catching all the smells that's living! Im also a huge fan of tug-of-war. If you've been looking for a workout buddy to help build those biceps, Im your guy. And after we've had our fun? You'll find me curled up under a blanket watching the Timberwolves or Vikings with my favorite human. I may not understand the rules, but I know cheering from the couch is part of the experience. Ive grown up with two Save-A-Bull alumni dogs, and theyve been my best buddies since I was a puppy. Even though Im about 65 pounds now, they still let me climb into the middle of our puppy piles for nap time. I think they secretly love being my pillows. Meeting brand-new dogs is still something Im working on. I can get nervous because Im not always sure what their intentions are, and when Im scared, I tend to bark, a lot. My foster mom says it sounds more like dramatic screaming than barking, which is a little embarrassing, but weve been working hard on building my confidence. Ive already made huge progress on walks, and Im getting much better at seeing other dogs without worrying so much. Im just not quite ready for sidewalk introductions yet. I also live with a cat, and weve figured out how to coexist just fine. That said, I met a different cat at a pet store once, and lets just say we didnt exactly hit it off. In my defense, he hissed first. I also have a pretty healthy prey drive. Ive learned to ignore squirrels for the most part (you're welcome, squirrels), but rabbits and birds? Were still negotiating that relationship. Ive met several older kids and really enjoyed spending time with them. Little kids make me a little nervous, and since I can get pretty excited when Im having fun, Id probably do best with children around 10 years old and up. My dream family is one that will continue helping me become the very best version of myself. Im looking for people who will be patient, consistent, and willing to keep up with my training while giving me plenty of exercise, adventures, toys, and cuddle time. I promise to meet you halfway with endless loyalty, lots of laughs, and enough love to fill your whole house. If youre looking for a goofy, affectionate best friend who wants to be your adventure buddy by day and your blanket-sharing cuddle bug by night, I think wed make the perfect team. I cant wait to meet my forever family and spend the rest of my life being their co-pilot. Please visit our website saveabullmn.org to learn more about this amazing pet and see other available dogs.

Story
Hi, Im Winfield (named after Minnesota Twins legend Dave Winfield)! I made the big trip from Texas with my siblings, and Im loving every minute of my new Minnesota adventure. My foster family says I have the cutest little paws with beautiful markings, but I think my sweet personality and expert snuggling skills deserve some credit too. One of my favorite things in the whole world is exploring the fenced yard. There are so many exciting smells to investigate! Every trip outside feels like a brand-new adventure. I can spend ages sniffing the grass, checking out interesting scents, and discovering all the important puppy news in the neighborhood. Its hard work being this curious, but all that exploring helps wear me out for my next nap. My foster family says Im a gentle, easygoing little guy. I love belly rubs, toys, and spending time with my people. Im always interested in what my foster parents are doing and like to tag along to make sure I dont miss anything important. Theyre teaching me all about being a good boy, and I think Im catching on pretty quickly. Im especially proud of my kennel manners. At night, I sleep like a champion and can snooze for eight straight hours. During the day, my kennel is my cozy little retreat where I can relax, chew on toys, and recharge after a busy day of puppy adventures. I actually enjoy hanging out there! My potty training is going really well, too. I know outside is the place to do my business, and Ill head toward the door or give my people a hint when I need to go. Best of all, Ive never had an accident in my kennel. Right now, I live with two foster dog siblings, Ruth and Murphy. When I first arrived, the older dogs seemed a little intimidating, but Ive been getting more comfortable as Ive had time to settle in. When meeting new dogs, I do best with slow, thoughtful introductions that give me a chance to take things at my own pace. Once I feel comfortable, I can relax and start figuring out my new friend. Id love a home that understands that good friendships take a little time to build. As much as I enjoy having canine friends, people might be my favorite thing ever. It takes me about five seconds to decide that a new human should be my best friend. If theres an available lap, theres a very good chance Ill be curled up in it before you know it. I LOVE to snuggle, and I take my cuddling responsibilities very seriously. Im still a young puppy, which means I have lots of exciting things left to learn! My training will need to continue so I can keep building my confidence and become the best boy I can be. Im brave, curious, and very food motivated, so I think training sounds like a pretty great deal. Every new skill is just another excuse to earn treats and praise from my favorite people. I havent met any cats or young children yet, so my foster family thinks Id be happiest in a home with older kids ideally kiddos in the double digits who understand how to give a puppy space and let me get comfortable at my own pace. Im looking for a family who will be patient with me, continue my training, and help me navigate new experiences with confidence. Another dog to show me the ropes could be wonderful, but slow introductions are important so I have time to feel comfortable. I could also be perfectly happy as an only dog if it means soaking up all the love and attention for myself! If youre looking for a sweet, gentle puppy with a curious spirit, adorable little paws, championship-level cuddle skills, and a heart full of potential, I think we should meet. Im Winfield, and I cant wait to find my forever family and start making memories together! Please visit our website saveabullmn.org to learn more about this amazing pet and see other available dogs.
