Story
Zuko is an 8mo old pup. Born February 11th, 2026. He is very sweet and cuddly. Loves to play tug of war, run around, and is very happy. He has A LOT of energy. Zuko needs a family who is able to dedicate their time to him. He has behavioral issues that are just beyond my scope. I have tried everything in my power to correct this behavior and I am unable to pour anymore effort into him. He can be destructive and chew anything he can get his mouth on when left alone. He is mostly potty trained, but needs to be taken out every 1-2 hours before an accident occurs. He will NOT use a pee pad because he will chew/play/tear them up. He cannot be left unsupervised or he will do something unhinged. He will scream/howl/whine/bark all night when in his crate at night when in a new home (he is crate trained at home with us, but somewhere new he will most likely need to be recreate trained). He will need someone who is able to work with him constantly and will have a lot of time to dedicate.

Come meet him today! The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more. Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information. ** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate you`re understanding and patience. ** ** Third-Party Websites ** Sites like Petfinder and GetBuddy may not show our current available animals. From the Dog Kennels/Dog Isolation/Dog Quarantine (in shelter): To meet this dog, please come to Seattle Animal Shelter at 2061 15th Ave W, Seattle, WA 98119, between 1 – 5 pm on one of our open days, no appointment needed. We are open on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We are closed for adoptions on Monday and all holidays. From Foster Care (out of shelter): Put the name of the dog(s) and animal ID in the Subject Line of a new email. In the body of the email please include your contact information, including address and phone number, which dog(s) you are showing interest in. Send the email to sasfosteradoption@seattle.gov. Meet Mickey!  Mickey is an adorable 3 year old Shih Tzu. He did not come from a place where he was well cared for and arrived with us quite neglected. He is doing well in his foster home and is ready to find his forever home.  Mickey needs a little bit of time to trust you, but once he does he’s a very cuddly and affectionate boy! He loves to push his face into your chest and gently nibble on your hands, which is very endearing. He loves playing indoor fetch with soft toys and actually brings them back to you to throw again! He’s treat motivated and doing a great job learning commands. He walks very nicely on leash and enjoys exploring the neighborhood.  When there’s nothing else going on, he’s quite happy to nap on the couch or in his dog bed. He sleeps quietly through the night in his X-pen, where he also does very well being left alone for a few hours.  Mickey had a few potty accidents during his first week in foster, but none since then. He occasionally barks at noises outside, but he quiets down quickly. He rides very well in the car, and he did great with a fear-free groomer who went slowly and gained his trust. Mickey would probably do well with one or more doggie companions and possibly with cats. He came from a home with two other dogs, and he got along well with them when we brought them together for a reunion. The biggest challenge for Mickey is that he distrusts men. After 4 weeks with us, he still sometimes growls at his foster dad, but only when he is left alone with him. We suspect he would come around to a male adopter more quickly if there were another confident dog in the home to reassure him that he is safe. He would probably struggle in a home where there are frequent male visitors.  Mickey is not well suited for a home with kids. He will find their movements too unpredictable.  Mickey is vaccinated, neutered and chipped. His adoption fee is $450 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Meet Blanco! Blanco is an adorable Poodle mix boy, around 1 year old and about 12 lbs. He is a hoot! Blanco is a friendly boy, he likes kids and he likes other dogs. He is a happy and social fella. he is no couch potato and is a very active and bouncy boy. He can play all day and then some. He is not suitable for someone with older dogs or someone who is not physically active. Blanco needs a yard to play in and plenty of walks and adventures. We have not seen him with cats.  Blanco is vaccinated, neutered and chipped.
