Story
Meet Rocky,  a 17-lb, 1-year-old Shih Tzu  who is ready to find his forever home!   Background: Rocky came into rescue when his family could no longer care for him.    Breed:  Rocky and the other Shih Tzu’s available for adoption (Molly, Bella and Tyra) came from a home that bred Shih Tzus.   The owner died and the 4 dogs were taken into rescue.  We do believe these dogs are purebred Shih Tzus. Personality : Rocky is a typical Shih Tzu, low key sweet and just wants some attention.  He loves to play with and steal toys from his foster siblings.  Rocky is somewhat shy, after a bark or  two he will warm up and want attention. Rocky is not house trained yet.  HIs foster mom and foster siblings are helping him with house training and leash walking.  We think he will be a pro in no time. After an initial greeting and sniff or two  Rocky will be your new best friend.  He simply loves attention and would really enjoy someone to play with human or doggie siblings.  Health:   Rocky will be neutered and microchipped prior to adoption and is current on his vaccinations.    Ideal Home:   Rocky is great with all people and dogs of all sizes!  He  just wants a home where he will be loved and treasured. His ideal home will have a companion dog.  Rocky has never been an only dog and we do not think he will do well as an only dog.   His adoption fee of $500 helps offset the cost of medical expenses as outlined above. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:    helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up . June 17, 2025, 7:37 pm

Story
Meet Bella, an 16-lb, 4-year-old Shih Tzu  who is ready to find her forever home with her sister Molly!   Bella and Molly came into rescue when her family could no longer care for her.  Breed:    Bella and the other Shih Tzus available for adoption (Molly, Tyra and Rocky) came from a home that bred Shih Tzus.  The owner died and the 4 dogs were taken into rescue.  We do believe these dogs are purebred Shih Tzus. Personality: Bella is the sweetest little angel.  She greets everyone with a welcoming smile and polite command to be held. She is very friendly and has had no issues with anybody she has met.  She has never been in a home with young children, but we think she would do well with respectful and responsible children.   She adores attention. Bella is house-trained, walks well on a leash and is not destructive when left alone. Bonded Pair: Bella and her sister Molly are a bonded pair. They provide security and confort for each other and have never been apart. Health :  Bella will be spayed and microchipped prior to adoption and is current on his vaccinations.    Ideal Home:   Bella is great with all people and dogs of all sizes! She just wants a home where she will be loved and treasured. Her must have in her ideal home is her sibling Molly. Adoption Fee: The adoption fee is $450 per dog. Meet Tyra, an 8-lb, 10-year-old Shih Tzu  who is ready to find her forever home! Tyra came into rescue when her family could no longer care for her.  Breed:  Tyra and the other Shih Tzus available for adoption (Molly, Bella and Rocky) came from a home that bred Shih Tzus.  The owner died and the 4 dogs were taken into rescue.  We do believe these dogs are purebred Shih Tzus. She is very friendly and has had no issues with anybody she has met. Tyra has sight in only one eye. The loss of her eye has no effect on this little girl. Tyra is house-trained, walks well on a leash and is not destructive when left alone. Story
PWRESCUE.ORG *PHOENIX METRO AREA ONLY*  Meet Yoda – Your Pocket-Sized Jedi of Joy! Don’t be fooled by his petite frame—Yoda is bursting with big personality and puppy charm! With his wild, wispy ears and a mischievous sparkle in his eye, this 1-year-old Terrier/Shih Tzu mix lives up to his legendary name: wise beyond his years, endlessly curious, and always ready for fun.  Yoda is a 1-year old, 11 pound terrier/Shih Tzu mix. Rescued as a stray, Yoda is now on a quest to find his forever home. He’s a bundle of happy energy who thrives in an active environment. His dream? A home with a friendly dog sibling to wrestle, chase, and learn from. A fenced yard would be the cherry on top—perfect for zoomies, sunbathing, and sniff-filled adventures. Yoda’s playful spirit and goofy antics make him an instant favorite. He’s sweet, silly, and guaranteed to keep you laughing. While he hasn’t been tested with cats, he might do fine with a slow introduction. Since we don’t know his history with children, older, respectful kids would be the best fit. Yoda comes neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines—all he’s missing is you. If you’re ready for love, laughter, and a lifetime of adorable antics, Yoda is ready to be your loyal sidekick. Adopt Yoda—because the Force is strong with this one. Story
PWRESCUE.ORG **PHOENIX METRO AREA ONLY** Meet Ozzie & Oreo – A Sweet Senior Duo Looking for Their Forever Home Introducing Ozzie and Oreo, a delightful bonded pair of 9-year-old seniors ready to spend their golden years wrapped in love and comfort. Ozzie, a gentle Havanese mix, and Oreo, a charming Shih Tzu mix, are the very best of friends—shy but oh-so-sweet, and always happiest together. These two are looking for a peaceful, loving home where they can truly relax and be the center of your world. A calm, adult-only environment without other pets would be ideal, as they thrive in quiet surroundings and prefer all the attention for themselves. Though they’re enjoying their retirement years, Ozzie and Oreo still have plenty of affection to give. They’ll reward your love and patience with loyal companionship, cozy cuddles, and the kind of soulful connection only senior dogs can offer. Due to their chatty nature, they’re not a good match for apartment or condo living—but if you’ve got a quiet home with room in your heart for two, Ozzie and Oreo could be the perfect pair for you. Give these sweet seniors the loving home they deserve—and in return, gain two grateful, gentle companions for life. Ozzie and Oreo are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00 for the pair. If you’re ready to provide this sweet pair with a loving home, please visit https://pwrescue.org and click on the "Adopt" button to complete an application.   Pathways Home Animal Rescue May 29, 2025, 9:09 pm
