Story
Meet Java– Ready for His Forever Lap! This tiny bundle of love is a sweet Shih Tzu mix puppy, weighing just 5 lbs and estimated at 7-8 months old (per vet). With his soft puppy fur and big, expressive eyes, he’s the perfect pint-sized companion who’s already stealing hearts in his foster home! He is gentle and wonderful with children—he’s been living happily with kids ages 6 and 8, enjoying playtime and gentle cuddles. He adores his toys and gets so excited for short, leisurely walks (he’s currently sporting a collar with an Apple AirTag for extra safety during his adventures). He does dash away and will need training to come to a trusted owner. This little guy is all about closeness whether that’s snuggling in your lap or cozied up in a cross-body carrier. He’s already making great progress on house training—pottying outside on a consistent schedule and even holding it through the night like a champ! He follows our yellow lab around craving attention from her. Crate-trained and used to a leash indoors (to prevent sneaky hide-and-seek under beds), he’s learning fast with patience and positive reinforcement. Fully vetted and ready to go: up-to-date on all puppy shots, rabies (good for one year), and neutered. This puppy is a classic snuggle bug who craves affection and TLC. He’s shy and skittish about coming when called  (especially if he’s feeling unsure), so his ideal family will enjoy helping him build confidence with treats, praise, and lots of love—he’ll reward you with endless loyalty and puppy kisses! If you’re looking for a small, affectionate shadow who wants nothing more than to be your constant companion, Java is hoping you’ll be the one to give him that forever home. Apply today via the application—he can’t wait to make you smile every day! Java is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Java’s adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.

Story
Buddy is a 3-year-old, 30-pound sweetheart who recently came to our rescue alongside his friend Guido after their owner’s health sadly declined. He’s still trying to understand why his life changed so suddenly, and because of that, Buddy may be a little unsure at first. With patience and a calm environment, he just needs some time to decompress and feel safe again.Beneath the uncertainty is a very sweet boy who has so much love to give. Once he settles in, Buddy is sure to blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. He would do best in a home willing to give him the time, space, and reassurance he needs to adjust at his own pace.Buddy is ready for a second chance with a family who can offer stability, kindness, and understanding—and in return, he’ll be a wonderful dog and devoted friend.

Story
Meet Malley ! At 12 years young, Malley is a sweet, gentle lady who’s all about the simple joys in life. She’s low-energy, housebroken, and perfectly content spending her days lounging in a cozy bed or soaking up quiet companionship. Malley would love a calm home where she can enjoy peaceful walks, soft pets, and plenty of love. She’s the perfect match for someone looking for a mellow, loyal best friend. Malley is social in playgroup, although maybe a little stiff due to her age. We have yet to test Malley in a playgroup with large dogs but she has done great in small dog playgroup!!

Story
Ringo is an active boy that loves to play. He seems to be good with most dogs but has not exactly figured out boundaries with some dogs so he will do best with a dog that is not aggressive. An introduction is a must. He would do well being an only dog with an active person that will give him the time and attention/activity to keep him from being bored. We do not know if he is totally house trained so his new family will need to establish a routine until established. He loves walks and walks very nicely on a leash. He is a gentle boy about 3 years old and weighs 13 lbs. He has one blue eye and one brown eye which makes him very unique. Ringo is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $400 https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog

Story
Henri was saved from a high kill shelter and has been in our partner rescue for awhile, until we just brought him to Doggie Tails Rescue House. He is kennel trained but needs to be house-trained to your environment. He is vetted with shots, neuter and even a dental. Very sweet, calm, and not a barker!
