Good with dogs,
Story
Hello… I’m Bell. I’m a very small dog with a very big story, and even though I’m still learning how to trust people, I’m hoping someone out there might read this and see the quiet little soul behind the words. I’m not the kind of dog who runs up to strangers or wiggles with excitement when someone new walks in. I’m the kind who watches from a safe corner first, who needs time, patience, and gentleness. But I promise—if you give me those things—I have love to give back. I didn’t come from an easy beginning. My previous owner couldn’t take proper care of me, and I ended up surrendered to animal control. When I arrived, my fur was so matted that my whole body hurt. The mats were tight, heavy, and pulling at my skin. They had to shave me completely just to free me from them. Underneath, they found wounds—real wounds—hidden where no one could see. One mat had wrapped around my leg so tightly that it actually strangled it and severed my Achilles tendon. They tried surgery to fix it, but it didn’t work. My outside has healed, but my tendon never will. So I walk with a limp now. It’s just part of me. The doctors said the only other option would be to amputate my leg, but the leg is healthy otherwise. It works, even if it’s not perfect. So the decision was made to leave it as it is. I get around just fine—I’m small, and I’ve learned how to move in my own way. My limp doesn’t stop me from being a dog. It just makes me a little different. Because of everything I went through, I’m very scared of people. I don’t mean to be. I just learned that hands can hurt, and loud voices can mean trouble. I’m trying to unlearn that. I’m trying to understand that some people are kind, patient, and safe. I’m not a social butterfly and probably never will be. I won’t be the dog who greets guests or loves busy households. But I can learn to love the people who become my family. Slowly. Quietly. In my own time. I do well with other dogs—they don’t scare me the way people do. And most cats are bigger than I am, so they don’t worry me either. What I really need is a calm, quiet home, preferably with adults who understand that trust is something I build slowly. A noisy house full of children would overwhelm me. I’m not a dog for chaos. I’m a dog for softness. I will need regular grooming for the rest of my life. I can never be allowed to get matted again—not even a little. My coat needs care, and I need someone who will make sure I never suffer like that again. I’ve been spayed, I’m current on my vaccinations, and I’m microchipped, so I’m ready for my new beginning. I know I’m not the easiest dog to adopt. I know I’m not the dog everyone dreams of. But maybe… just maybe… I’m the dog someone specific dreams of. Someone gentle. Someone patient. Someone who sees beauty in quiet things. If you think you might be that person, I’d like to meet you—slowly, safely, and at my pace. Please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’m Bell… and I’m ready for a forever home where I can finally exhale.   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis. Story
I'm Tilly, a petite black/ white Shih Tzu with a heart full of love! 🐾 I'm already spayed and ready to start my next adventure with you. I'm an affectionate, shy and gentle girl who thrives on cuddles and companionship. I’m about a year old and weigh 11 Lbs 💕 If you're looking for a small, loving companion to brighten your days, come meet me — I can't wait to find my forever home! ✨ Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Tilly is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise she should be easy to train. Tilly is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Tilly’s adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog.

Story
Hi there! I'm Bubba, a 4-year-old red & white Shih Tzu with a heart full of love to give 💕. I weigh 12 lbs. I'm already neutered and ready to bring affection, friendliness, and loyalty into your home. I am a bit reserved at first. Someone didn’t treat me right at one time in my life. I’m never aggressive but just a bit shy at first. I would very much like to sleep in the bed my new parent(s). Don't let my petite size fool you — I've got plenty of playfulness and personality packed into this little package 🐾! My adoption fee is $400, and I'm waiting to meet the family that's going to adore me as much as I'll adore them 🎀. I will need grooming every 6-8 weeks and I will need some work on house training. I would do best in a home with a yard so I can potty with a bit of “privacy!”
