Story
Clyde is a sweet 10 year old Shih Tzu.boy who lost his home because after having him 10 years, his owners decided he is not good around their kids. He did not deserve to be given up on just because he is aging. Additionally they allowed him to become very overweight which could definitely contribute to his sometimes grumpy mood. We have not observed any bad behavior here at the rescue. He is really a nice dog, easy to have around and not at all demanding. He is in good health, fully vetted and ready for a new home and a Weight Watchers membership. It is imperative that his new Adopter keeps him on a diet to help him reduce his weight. He's clearly not comfortable how he is. He would love the yard to run around in as well as to bask in the sun. He may need some forced walking to help with retrieving the waistline he once enjoyed. according to his former owners, Clyde is housetrained. Clyde is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Clydes's Adoption fee is $275 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Story
Lulu is a cute 6 year old Shih Tzu girl who is laid back and loving.. She is confident and seems friendly with all people she has met. She gets along fairly well with the dogs at the rescue but we feel she would do best as an only dog in an adult home. She walks well on a leash and does well in the car. She is gold and white and weighs approximately 18 lbs but is on the heavy side and could afford to lose a few pounds. Lulu has occasional accidents in the house so she will need close observation and some reinforcement with her training. She loves to play with toys and chew on her bones and treats. Lulu is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Lulu's adoption fee is $375 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Story
Neo is a handsome black-and-white Shih Tzu who was Surrendered by his owners because they no longer have time for him. He is eight years old and he would love to be the only dog in the household. He has never live with other dogs, and at the Rescue he is not very happy being around all the other dogs. He is a sweet boy, however, and he loves his people, and is very loyal. Like many of our rescued dogs we are not sure how well house trained Watson is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. He is very eager to please. Watson is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Watson's adoption fee is $550 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Story
Buddy is a sweet boy who is a mix of Shih Tzu and Pug. He was surrendered to the rescue because the owners could no longer care for him. He is a happy boy and is two years old. He is well mannered, walks well on a leash and gets along with everyone, people and dogs alike. Buddy weighs 15 lbs and will not get any bigger. He would love a home where he can be active and mingle amongst a family that has a somewhat active lifestyle. He is good in the car and loves to go with you wherever you want to go. He is sweet and endearing and well behaved. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Buddy is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Buddy's adoption fee is $400 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Story
Nina and Athena are two very sweet purebred Shih Tzus. They lost their home when their owners were longer able to keep them due to a move. They are very quiet and laid back girls with not a mean bone in their body. I am not certain exactly of their ages as we were told they were five and nine years old, but we do believe that the five-year-old is a little older. Both of them had terrible teeth, which have been cleaned, including extractions. They have been fully vetted As well. Both girls are incredibly kind and quiet and get along with absolutely everybody. Deserve a quiet home where they can be loved like they deserve. Both girls walk well on a leash, but do not need to be walked except for potty breaks if there is not a yard. Both girls appear to be trained, although may need some adjustments in a new home. Neither are nervous in the car and do not react much too loud noises changes, or the constant in and out of different dogs here. They mind their own business and watch the world go by. Nina and Athena will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Nina and Athena's combined adoption fee is $600 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, spaying or neutering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue.
