Story
Special Adopter Needed – Gentle, Sweet Soul with a Hard Past Fozzie is a 1 y/o, 18 lb. ShihTzu-Maltese mix who was abandoned in a rural area. He was rescued and sent to a foster home where we learned that he may have endured some abuse in his short life. This beautiful boy desperately wants to be near his human companions and will follow you around, eager to snuggle up next to you on the couch. Very affectionate and playful, he greets everyone he meets with joy (even the vet and groomer!), and loves his belly rubs and chew toys. He is fully house-trained and walks well on a leash. As a result of his prior likely mistreatment, his nervous system is a bit overwhelmed. This shows up in the way he protects himself and his things (toys/treats), and he has the ability to snap/bite if pushed past his comfort zone. *** He needs an experienced adopter who will give him time to settle in, read his body language, and teach him not to fear, but for that right person, he will be the sweetest, most loving little fellow. *** Fozzie will be best set up to succeed in a • A calm, adult-only home  • An experienced, patient adopter who understands fearful dogs • Someone who is home most of the time as he has separation anxiety when left alone • A house, not an apartment (ideally with a fenced-in yard for him to run!) because he howls when left alone With structure, boundaries, and respect, he will be a loyal, loving companion. For the right person, he will be incredibly rewarding. For the wrong situation, he will be overwhelmed and we do not want to set him - or you - up for failure. If you think you may be the right home for Fozzie, please text/call Aly at 732-604-0625. We also have additional photos/videos to share. Thank you for caring about a pet in need! Please NOTE: Fozzie is currently located in the Boston, MA area. The adoption fee listed is in order for the rescue to recoup actual expenses from his vetting, transport, and care.

You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Brewer is a very easy going 9 years young and only 8 pounds Shih Tzu/ Poodle mix boy that always wears a happy smile and a loving heart that is ready for new friends. His owner had a lot of life changes that soon kept Brewer isolated and staying home alone for days with only an abundance of food and water, but no real human contact.  He grew anxious and soon a family relative took him from the home and offered him to Critter Cavalry Rescue to help rehome to someone more attentive.  We have groomed him, done a dental and updated all of his medical shots and heartworm test.  He is a total dream boat of a boy.  He welcomes everyone he meets with a tail wag and the perfect smile and dancing eyes.  This boy would be a wonderful companion to an older couple, a single person who just wants a devoted small dog to fill their world with love and steady company.  He would love to sleep with you at night and hang out on the sofa being the perfect movie watcher.  Whatever movie you want he is game to go right along.  He is housebroken and smooth as silk on a leash and he is a lap dog if you want him to be.  He is wonderful around other dogs, children who are respectful and he is good with cats too!.  Please know that this boy could have another great 9 years left to make his mark on your life.  Just drop us an email at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  Critter Cavalry Rescue will answer quickly and with gratitude for your interest.   PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 27, 2026, 4:11 pm

MEET NENE! *Small but mighty Nene doesn`t seem to realize that he only weighs 10 lbs! He`ll bark at other dogs, no matter their size, as well as the wild turkeys who live on the shelter property. Nene would be happiest in a quiet environment outside the city as the only dog in the home. He`s lived with kids and would be good in a home with dog-savvy children. Did we mention that he`s insanely cute? Come to Dedham to meet NeNe!My friends describe me as: Adventerous, vocal and snugglyNene is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team.
