Story
We got Sparky at a pet store when he was a puppy, and he is currently 11 years old. He is a good dog, a bit grumpy like all Shih Tzus. Right now, he is very bored at home since I work long hours, and that’s why I want to find him a new home with someone who can dedicate more time to him. He is a bit picky with his food; over the years, he no longer likes kibble, and I have to make him homemade meals.Sparky also loves being with people or his owners, but he likes his personal space, so I don't recommend hugging and kissing him too much since he doesn't really like it. I call him my grumpy old man; he has never bitten anyone because we all know when to give him love and when to give him space, but he is an adorable dog.

Story
Mina Paws is a rare and beautiful black Shih Tzu girl who is estimated to be about 10 years old, though you might never guess it by looking at her bright expression and those surprisingly beautiful teeth. This sweet little lady weighs about 17 pounds and has recently begun a new chapter in life after losing the only home she had ever known.   Sadly, when her owner passed away, Mina’s life took a heartbreaking turn. The remaining family members left her outside for a period of time, and this gentle girl went from being someone’s companion to being neglected and forgotten. By the time rescue was able to step in, Mina was in very poor condition. Her coat had thinned drastically from untreated skin issues, her nails had grown so long they were nearly curling into her paw pads, and she was understandably frightened and confused. But even through all of that, Mina’s sweet spirit was still there waiting to shine again.   With proper veterinary care, treatment for her skin, and the kindness of a loving foster home, Mina has been transforming day by day. Her hair has almost completely grown back in, her skin is healing beautifully, and she is beginning to look like the lovely Shih Tzu girl she was born to be. Even more importantly, her heart is healing too.   Mina can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, which is understandable after everything she has been through. But once she feels safe, her affectionate personality blossoms. She loves to cuddle, happily settling into a warm lap where she feels most content. She has even started to rediscover the joy of play as she slowly lets go of the sadness from her past. It’s truly wonderful to watch her greet each new day with a little more confidence and happiness.   Mina Paws also gets along beautifully with other animals. She lives peacefully with both dogs and cats and enjoys their quiet companionship. She would do well in a calm home where she can continue to feel safe, loved, and cherished.   This sweet senior girl is fully vetted and ready for the next chapter of her life. She has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, and has even had a complete senior bloodwork panel to ensure she is healthy moving forward.  All Mina wants now is a gentle home where she will never again have to wonder if she is loved.   If you are interested in giving this precious girl the safe and happy future she deserves, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live.   Mina Paws is currently in Nashville, TN, and we also transport every to families in the northeastern region.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
Special Adopter Needed – Gentle, Sweet Soul with a Hard Past Fozzie is a 1 y/o, 18 lb. ShihTzu-Maltese mix who was abandoned in a rural area. He was rescued and sent to a foster home where we learned that he may have endured some abuse in his short life. This beautiful boy desperately wants to be near his human companions and will follow you around, eager to snuggle up next to you on the couch. Very affectionate and playful, he greets everyone he meets with joy (even the vet and groomer!), and loves his belly rubs and chew toys. He is fully house-trained and walks well on a leash. As a result of his prior likely mistreatment, his nervous system is a bit overwhelmed. This shows up in the way he protects himself and his things (toys/treats), and he has the ability to snap/bite if pushed past his comfort zone. *** He needs an experienced adopter who will give him time to settle in, read his body language, and teach him not to fear, but for that right person, he will be the sweetest, most loving little fellow. *** Fozzie will be best set up to succeed in a • A calm, adult-only home  • An experienced, patient adopter who understands fearful dogs • Someone who is home most of the time as he has separation anxiety when left alone • A house, not an apartment (ideally with a fenced-in yard for him to run!) because he howls when left alone With structure, boundaries, and respect, he will be a loyal, loving companion. For the right person, he will be incredibly rewarding. For the wrong situation, he will be overwhelmed and we do not want to set him - or you - up for failure. If you think you may be the right home for Fozzie, please text/call Aly at 732-604-0625. We also have additional photos/videos to share. Thank you for caring about a pet in need! Please NOTE: Fozzie is currently located in the Boston, MA area. The adoption fee listed is in order for the rescue to recoup actual expenses from his vetting, transport, and care.
