Hi, I am a 4 month old shitzu/pit mix(yes you read that right.)My sister and I came into the rescue when our people had to move and couldn't take us.Our foster mom says we are the best foster puppies she has had.I love playing ball and playing with my sister but will stop everything when you come in the pen because spending time with people is my favorite thing in the world.If you sit down your lap is all mine!I don't chew anything up(except an occasional puppy pad) and will go to my crate whenever I I am told without making a sound.I am pee pad trained and go everytime I am taken outside but will need someone to work with me on my potty training.My foster mom says she believes I will have it down in no time.I quickly figure out puzzle games,know how to sit and know the meaning of no.You only have to tell me once because I listen very well.I have not been around any children but am sure I will do well with kids 6 and older.I love cats and dogs!I sleep quietly all night in my crate but would be even happier curled up to you.I love my foster mom but I am ready for my forever home.Is that you? Ming <3 <3 <3. This guy is so much fun! His enthusiasm and exuberance are contagious. Ming wakes up every day excited and happy for the day <3. His warm welcome at seeing you, the smile, oh yes, the smile … makes you want to pick him up and give him the biggest hug and kiss <3 Ming likes to be held. He stays quiet in your arms. Not a whimper or bark. He soaks in all that is going on around him. He is also just as content to sit beside you and observe the world going by. Regardless of the defects in his back leg, Ming tries his best at everything. No complaints from this kid. He doesn’t let his disability slow him down. He scoots along on floors, grass, anything just fine, and fast too! Sometimes, you’re the one who has to keep up with him! He is just excited to be mobile and enjoying the world <3 Ming loves his walks, but we recommend having a stroller or doggie backpack with you, so he doesn't overexert himself. Ming is very friendly with other dogs. He likes to play with them but must be supervised so he doesn't overexert himself. Ming is 2 years old, 12lb, a Shih Tzu mix. He is looking for a home where he can be included in family activities. Ming loves the world and wants to enjoy it. This kid will sit quietly for hours just watching it go by. Ming is such a good-natured, well-balanced guy. You rarely hear him bark unless he wants your attention. Ming’s left hind leg is broken in various places. It is not functional. It will need amputation for him to have a better quality of life.

Precious little Minnie loves, loves her walks. She takes this activity very seriously. When she sets off on this mission, there is no stopping her. She is focused and zeroes in in the direction she wants to go. It takes a little coaxing if you want to veer course 😊She is the perfect walking buddy for an avid walker who does not want the clunkiness of a big pup. Off leash, Minnie loves to explore. She has some vision impairment (lenticular sclerosis) so keep an eye on her, in case she does wander too far away. Minnie is wonderful with dogs. She engages very gently with them. Gentle playstyle and respectful of their space and boundaries. Minnie is quite independent. She doesn’t mind being cuddled and held but she does not constantly seek attention either. Minnie is 10 years old, 9lb Shih Tzu. She is looking for a quiet home with lots of walking time. Due to her vision impairment, a home with older children and/or calm dogs is preferred.

Ugh … this sweet boy has the saddest story :/ For all his life, 12lb Fluffy lived outdoors. Chained to a doghouse. The first family who had him used to beat him with a walking stick. If a walking stick was not available, they would kick him. They moved out and left him behind. The new tenant moved in. By this time, Fluffy has become untrusting of people and learned to defend and protect himself by growling and biting. When the new tenant approached him, Fluffy growled, so he got kicked. Fluffy responded by biting him and that is how Fluffy ended up at Buckeye’s. Due to living outdoors all his life, Fluffy has developed heartworm disease. He is currently undergoing treatment. Fluffy has since learned to love and trust people. He even seeks attention now. He wants to be petted and cuddled. He follows his foster mom around the house. It’s cute. He loves his walks. Is content to chill in the yard and watch the world go by. Fluffy is finally living and I dare say he is loving it! That said, we still take a gentle approach with Fluffy. We don’t want to overwhelm him with too many new experiences too soon. Fluffy still has good days and bad days. Some days he comes up for pets and cuddles and when he has had enough, he gets grouchy. We respect his boundaries and leave him alone. Undergoing heartworm treatment itself is hard enough, let alone adjusting to new experiences. Fluffy is about 8 years old, 12lb Shih Tzu mix. He is looking for a family who can provide him with a quiet home environment where he can continue his heartworm treatment and continue to learn new experiences, understanding that he will have good days and bad days until he unlearns his poor earlier experiences and fully replaces them with everything good - love, trust and more love. An adult only, or a home with older children is preferred.
