Story
Lizzy is a 1-year-old, 13 lb, female Shih tzu 🐾 Lizzy is a beautiful girl with the most unique coloring—reminiscent of a calico cat, making her truly one-of-a-kind both outside & inside. This sweet girl loves the simple joys in life, especially running & playing in a fenced yard where she can stretch her legs and feel safe. Lizzy finds comfort in other dogs and will need a confident canine companion in her forever home to help guide her and show her the ropes. Lizzy is still learning to trust humans, and she’ll need a patient & understanding family willing to give her the time and space she needs to come out of her shell. She may not show her love right away—but when she does it will be incredibly special and deeply earned. She sleeps in her crate, and is making great progress with potty training. Leash training will need to be done with gentle care. Lizzy does have a grade 5/6 heart murmur, and her future family will need to be prepared to support her medical needs. This may include veterinary care, medication, or a specialized diet to help her live as comfortably and happily as possible. While per prognosis is uncertain, Lizzy deserves a home filled with compassion, commitment, and love. In return, Lizzy promises to give you her whole heart if you are willing to be patient enough to receive it. If you have a gentle touch, a loving dog to guide her, and the willingness to give Lizzy the care she deserves, she just might be your perfect match 💕 Lizzy is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Chloe Chloe is a 5-year old-Shih Tzu weighting in at 11 pounds of love with the cutest underbite. In her former life, Chloe was a puppy mill momma. She was rescued the beginning of the May and is learning how to be a dog. Chloe is fostered with a 5 year old Bichon and a cat. She coexists easily with both. She would do well with another dog to guide her through this transition but not mandatory. Chloe has become a cuddle bug and loves body rubs. She often falls asleep on foster mom’s lap during love time. Potty training and leash walking is still a work in progress since the grass is a totally new experience. But with time and a routine will learn this task. Chloe has come along way in a short time but still gets scared and can be very submissive. She will need a family who are willing help her on her journey to new life as a loved member of your family. Chloe will return nothing but live and cuddles. Chloe is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bubbles, a little Shih Tzu puppy with a fluffy coat, a playful personality, and absolutely no understanding of personal space yet. Bubbles’ mom came to us as a stray in terrible condition — severely matted, neglected, and very pregnant. Shortly after arriving in rescue, she gave birth to four puppies. Sadly, one puppy didn’t survive, but Bubbles and the remaining siblings have grown into healthy, happy puppies now looking for forever homes. Born on February 28, 2026, Bubbles is curious, playful, and into all the normal puppy things like toys, exploring, and getting distracted every five seconds. Like any puppy, he’ll need basic training including housebreaking, crate training, leash walking, and learning manners as he grows up. His future family also needs to be prepared for grooming. Shih Tzus require frequent brushing and regular grooming appointments to prevent painful matting, especially around the behind area. Puppy coats are often even more work while the adult coat comes in, so staying on top of grooming is really important for dogs like Bubbles. Bubbles is neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and microchipped—he’s all set for his next chapter. His adoption fee is $600. Apply to adopt Bubbles at: www.adoggie4you.org Bubbles is currently in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, KY, and along the East Coast. There is an additional $250 transport fee. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 2, 2026, 5:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi there… I’m Butterscotch I don’t mean to brag, but I’ve been told I’m pretty much the definition of a good dog. I’m house trained, quiet, calm, and happiest when I’m curled up in a warm lap. I have a gentle, submissive nature and an easygoing personality—I just want to love and be loved. I came into rescue as a stray, very pregnant and needing help. Not long after, I welcomed three beautiful puppies into the world and devoted myself to being the best mama I could be. Now that they’re growing up and finding their own paths, it’s finally my turn to find a family to call my own. I’m a Shih Tzu with a soft heart and a sweet soul. I settle in easily, enjoy being around people, and love feeling like part of whatever you’re doing. Whether it’s a quiet evening at home or a little ride alongside you, I’m just happy to be near my person. I do need regular grooming to keep my coat healthy and tangle-free—but I promise I’ll sit sweetly for it. I’m spayed, fully vaccinated, current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto, and 4DX negative. I’m also microchipped. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will be your loyal little shadow, I’m right here waiting. Adoption fee: $500 Apply at: www.adoggie4you.org I’m currently in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Oregon, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio, Kentucky, and along the East Coast for an additional $225 transport fee (please note: transport is not available to Rhode Island or Massachusetts).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 2, 2026, 5:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi, I’m Dixie!  I’m a sweet, gentle girl who came to rescue with my little family after we were found along the highway. I spent my days raising my two puppies and making sure they were safe, and now that they’re growing up, it’s finally my turn to find a forever home of my own. The people here say I have a way of winning hearts the moment you meet me. I’m calm, quiet, and easy to love. I’m not much of a barker, and I get along wonderfully with all the other dogs I’ve met. I still have some things to learn about living inside a home, but I do seem to understand how to use a doggie door already. No one is quite sure yet how I do with kids or cats, but everyone agrees that I have a very gentle, loving demeanor. I’m already spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, 4DX negative, and current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto, so I’m all ready for my next adventure. My vet did say I have a grade I heart murmur, but I am otherwise healthy and you can read about heart murmurs at Heart Murmurs in Dogs and Cats - Veterinary Partner - VIN https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952593&sx=316298060&n=1 My adoption fee is $500 please apply at www.adoggie4you.org. Due to my breed, I will need regular brushing and grooming.  Right now I’m in Texas, but I can travel to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, KY, and along the East Coast for an additional $250 transport fee. Unfortunately, I can’t travel to Rhode Island or Massachusetts because of state regulations. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 2, 2026, 5:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Buttercup, a sweet little Shih Tzu puppy with a soft fluffy coat and a personality that’s equal parts playful and nosy. If something is happening nearby, she fully believes she should be involved. Buttercup’s mom came to us as a stray in rough condition — severely matted, neglected, and pregnant. Not long after coming into rescue, she gave birth to four puppies. Sadly, one puppy didn’t survive, but Buttercup and her siblings have grown into healthy, happy puppies ready to find families of their own. Born on February 28, 2026, Buttercup is your typical puppy. She loves toys, exploring, playing, and then crashing for a nap like she’s worked a full-time job. She’ll need all the usual puppy training including housebreaking, crate training, leash walking, and learning basic manners as she grows up. Her future family also needs to understand grooming upkeep. Shih Tzu coats mat very easily if they aren’t brushed regularly, especially around the behind area, and puppy coats can actually be harder to maintain while their adult coat comes in. Regular brushing and routine grooming appointments are a must to keep her comfortable and healthy. Buttercup is spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and microchipped—she’s all set for her next chapter. Her adoption fee is $600.
