She was found abandoned on the streets alongside her sister in heartbreaking condition. Severely neglected, Quinn was covered in painful mats, suffering from extensive hair loss caused by poor nutrition and flea infestation, and struggling with serious eye issues that had gone untreated for far too long. Since coming into rescue, Quinn has received extensive veterinary care and has been under the supervision of a local veterinary ophthalmology specialist. After numerous tests, treatments, and medications, we now know that Quinn has severe chronic dry eye, a condition common in her breed. Unfortunately, this has resulted in significant scarring of both corneas. The good news is that Quinn's right eye is responding well to treatment, and with lifelong medical management, her vision can likely be preserved. Her left eye has faced additional challenges, including a corneal ulcer and infection, but after completing her course of antibiotics and ongoing care, she has shown remarkable improvement. Despite everything she has endured, Quinn remains one of the sweetest dogs you could ever hope to meet. She is calm, gentle, affectionate, and happiest when curled up in your lap. Quinn is not a barker, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and has an easygoing, laid-back personality that makes her a joy to have around. Quinn is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, 4DX negative, and current on ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention and Bravecto flea and tick prevention. She and her sister were found living on the streets in heartbreaking, neglected condition. Despite everything she's been through, Tawny has remained an incredibly sweet, gentle dog. She is truly the definition of a perfect companion—house-trained, great in the car, easy on a leash, calm, quiet, and wonderful with people, kids, and other dogs. Tawny loves being close to her people and is happiest curled up in a comfy spot. Her only flaw? She does not like cats and will absolutely chase them, so she needs a cat-free home. Tawny is currently being treated for Chagas disease. She has had extensive veterinary testing, including comprehensive bloodwork and an echocardiogram, with results showing everything within normal limits. She does have a Grade III/VI heart murmur and recently developed focal seizures, both of which are being managed with veterinary care and medication. Baby Ruth is possibly the sweetest Shih Tzu to ever exist. At 8 years old and about 15 pounds, she’s the perfect package: adorable, playful, loving, and ready to live the good life that she deserves. She was a breeding mom at a puppy mill before her rescue, and despite this, she is not timid or afraid of people. In fact, Baby Ruth will approach anyone, stranger or not, because she wants nothing more than some ear scratches and a snuggle. She has the temperament of loving lap dog but still has the energy to gallop through the yard (her favorite pastime) or play with our resident dog. She also has the softest hair (non-shedding) and seems to melt with happiness when you give her love—it’s almost too cute. Baby Ruth has done great in a household with another dog, especially a dog that will interact with her. However, she would also do well in a household without another dog, especially if she’s getting lots of attention. She is crate trained and will bark a bit when we leave the house, but she settles quickly. She has also free roamed the house while we were away for a few hours and she definitely prefers this. She sleeps in her crate in the same room as her foster parents, and she prefers this because she likes to know her people are nearby. She is also 99% house trained and loves to run around a fenced in yard. She can walk on a leash but has not shown interest in walks at this time; she has happily accepted stroller rides to the farmers market, though. With her sweet temperament, we do think she would do great with kids, though we do not have any in our household currently. Baby Ruth is truly a phenomenal dog and any family will be so lucky to have her. Baby Ruth is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $300.00.
