Aretha is a 10 year old spayed female Shih Tzu who weighs 9.5 lbs. Aretha came to All 4 Paws from a commercial kennel after she was retired from breeding. This girl has a lot of life to live and deserves to be spoiled and loved. She is very sweet and loves to receive attention from her foster mama. Her ideal home will have someone home often to dote on her. She loves to be petted and to hang out with her people. Aretha is great with other dogs of all sizes and does well with cats too. She'd prefer a family with a canine companion to continue to help show her the ropes. A quieter home would be best for her as she is still adjusting to her new life as a beloved pet. Aretha is doing well with her training, but will need a patient family willing to continue to be patient with her. In time we have no doubt this cute little lady will flourish! MEET MAGIC! Magic is a charming little 15 year old Shih Tzu. Magic had a rough holiday season and found himself abandoned at an emergency vet because he was experiencing lethargy and pain. The hospital staff reached out to us when they couldn't find anything medically wrong with Magic, hoping we could find him the perfect home. He landed in foster care and has spent the time since bouncing back from the neglect he experienced. Magic absolutely adores his humans and loves to take long naps like any little old man. Magic likes other animals and would do well with another low-key dog or friendly cat. Magic enjoys walks but won't necessarily want to be your new hiking buddy. He'll let you know when he’s done and ready to go home, especially when it’s inclement weather! Magic isn’t a fan of being picked up or having his harness taken on and off, mainly because he is an older dog with older joints and age-related arthritis. Magic would do best in a home without children as he does have a tendency to nip when picked up or when frightened. Magic will need a human who will be patient with him and go slow and get to know his quirks. Once he is settled in, Magic is truly magical! Magic is potty trained but uses belly bands just to be safe when he needs to spend prolonged time alone. He takes daily gabapentin for his arthritis which has greatly improved his quality of life and which he should remain on to keep feeling good. He has slightly high kidney function levels but not to the degree that he needs medical intervention at this time. It's something that should be kept an eye on as he continues to age. He may eventually need a prescription kidney diet. Magic came to us with chronic dry eye (KCS) which was never addressed and caused an ulcer in one eye. After trying to heal the ulcer, his doctors decided the most effective way to relieve the pain he was experiencing in that eye would be to remove the no-good eye altogether. He's since had enucleation surgery and has healed well! That eye wasn't doing him any favors anyway so now he just looks adorably wonky and is no longer in pain! ADOPT SPECIAL NEEDS LEXIE Lexie is a 5yo 10lb Shih Tzu Mix . She’s dog and older kid friendly. She’s housebroken. She’d be good with a secure fenced in yard and/or going for walks. She is a very affectionate, calm dog who likes to be always be around her humans and cuddle/lay on their lap. Lexie MUST have a calmer home, where someone is home often, so not to be left for long periods of time, not to be crated, be allowed to sleep in her persons bed and her people good with her being a lap dog along with following her medical needs. If your home DOES NOT fit this please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone not a fit. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Lexie does have idiopathic epilepsy and requires seizure medications, cbd oil, MCT oil and fish oil. She is currently fed a raw diet. Routine bloodwork is needed. She is exempt from vaccines and should not be given flea and tick preventatives. She is spayed, HW negative and microchipped. Meet Oscar!!  This super sweet adult shih tzu is 11-12 years old and 21 lbs.  Oscar only new one family his entire life.  Unfortunately his dad experienced some mental issues and had to surrender Oscar.  He was way past his last grooming, he was covered in mats and his fur was so long he could barely see.  Oscar was lost when he first went to his foster home (like this) but one day later and post grooming you have the very handsome dog you see in these pictures.  Oscar is still a bit disoriented but warming up nicely in his foster home.  He is learning the ropes that come with a new life.  He has been to the vet and received a clean bill of health.  He did great at the groomer and is obviously used to being groomed.  This awesome boy rides great in the car and is a good co-pilot.  He just lays down or looks out the window.  He is good with other dogs and housebroken.  Oscar likes to be loved on.  He will sit in your lap and let you hug him close.  He just needs to feel loved and to know that he is safe.  He truly is a great boy.  If you are looking for a wonderful gentleman that is a bit older and are a loving and patient person, Oscar is the one for you.  You must be a bit active though as Oscar loves his daily walks.  He would also really like a nice fenced in area so that he can enjoy some outside time.  Oscar has been neutered and is current on his shots and microchipped.  To be considered for his forever family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Oscar is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 30, 2023, 11:44 pm

BEST FRIEND BUDDY

Best friend Buddy is just that.  He is a happy go lucky little guy that does not meet a stranger.  He is good with dogs, cats and people of all ages.  Buddy always seems to be smiling.  This sweet little guy will be an excellent addition to the right family.  He is super energetic and full of energy.  He loves to play and has a big time with his foster brothers and sisters.  They run and play both inside and outside so a fenced in year would be nice.  A home with another same size and age dog to play with would be perfect for Buddy. While he loves everyone he would do better in a home without toddlers.  Buddy is doggie door trained and he walks well on a leash.  This little cutie also rides great in the car.  He just settles down and sits in the seat.  Buddy is the perfect co-pilot.  He would be a great companion for someone that would take him places.   Buddy is a very social guy.  Buddy is 2-3 years old and he weighs 16 lbs.  He has been neutered and is current on all his shots and microchipped.  Buddy has a little issue with his eyes (they have rolled under and the lashes irritate the eyes).  He is scheduled for surgery on 5/8 and will be ready to go to his forever home 2 weeks after that.  There will be no long term affects from this and he will not need any eye medicine once the lids have healed.  This charmer is worth the wait.  To be considered for Buddy's forever home please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Buddy is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 30, 2023, 11:44 pm
