Story
Louis is a four-year-old Standard Poodle whom I got in Clearwater, Florida at blue sky puppies He is a sweet, sensitive dog who can be fearful of unfamiliar people, sounds, and situations, so he needs a calm, patient owner who will give him time to feel safe and comfortable. Making the decision to rehome Louis has been extremely difficult, but with the growing demands on my family and caring for a toddler, I can no longer give him the time and attention he deserves. I am looking for a loving, peaceful, and permanent home with someone who understands timid dogs and will treat Louis like part of the family. My greatest wish is for him to feel secure, loved, and happy in his new home.

Story
Hi! I’m Penelope, a fluffy poodle, and my best friend Ruby! We’re about 5 years old and basically attached at the hip. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but give me some time, a few toys, and I’ll be your new best friend! We LOVE walks, toys, and being wherever my people are. Ruby and I do best in a calm home since quick movements can make us nervous. We’re looking for a patient, loving family who understands that we’re a package deal. Two dogs, one friendship, and approximately 200% more love!

Story
Hi, I'm Daisy!  I’m a tiny, 8-lb Maltese/Poodle blend girl and I'm 10 years old. My hearing and vision aren't what they used to be, but I don’t let that stop me from exploring. Now I just need to discover a very special, patient family who will love me just the way I am. Favorite Things: Daisy LOVES her food and loves soaking up attention. Toys and playing are not really her thing, but exploring her surroundings is high on her list of favorite activities. She also loves being around her person and will sit next to them as much as possible (and extra close in bed at night). Training & Manners:  Daisy is working on her house training and will need to be taken outside frequently.  Due to her vision, she doesn’t do well on a leash so will need more practice with leash walking, and her hearing sometimes makes it difficult to communicate with her. The good news is that she is highly food-motivated to improve her manners.  She is verbal when she wants food but is otherwise quiet. Health and Care: Daisy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is on daily drops for dry eyes and takes her monthly preventatives for fleas and heartworm, along with medications for anxiety. She will likely require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep her looking and feeling her best. Other Animals:  Daisy has experience with other small dogs and cats.  Children: This gentle, curious gal would do best in a home with respectful teens only.    Ideal Home: Daisy would do well in an apartment, condo or single-family home.  Her “dream” home would be a house without steps (although she is tiny enough to carry) and no pool (for safety reasons with her vision impairment).  A fenced yard would keep her safe and give her room for her adventurous explorations. She has free rein of her foster home and can be left for several hours without issues. She sleeps in the “people bed” at night and is happy to cozy up to her person. Overall: Daisy is a great and loyal companion asking only for food, love, attention, and patience (and creativity when it comes to communication.)  Could special Daisy be the one for you? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, her foster family will reach out with more information. Her adoption donation is $175. ##2667454##

*** Bonded – Codey and Lexie are bonded and must be adopted together. Meet Codey and Lexie! Hi, we’re Lexie and Codey, lifelong companions who adore each other and are ready to bring our gentle, senior sweetness to a new family. We’re calm, affectionate, easygoing, and we’re hoping to find a home with room in the heart for two. Codey: I’m a 13yearold Maltese blend boy who weighs 8 pounds. I’m young at heart, love staying close to my person, and bring a warm, cheerful presence wherever I go. I’m devoted, cuddly, and always ready to join in on whatever my human is doing. Lexie: I’m a 12-yearold Shih Tzu girl who weighs 10 pounds. I’m an independent soul who enjoys quiet moments, cozy spots, and choosing affection when it feels just right. I may be small, but I’m steady, observant, and full of soft charm. Favorite Things  Codey: Codey loves staying near his person and happily shadows them throughout the day. He enjoys curling up on the couch, stretching out in bed, and following familiar routines. While toys don’t interest him much, he’s delighted by breakfast and dinner and cleans his bowl with gusto. He naps often but perks up the moment his human moves, eager to join in. Lexie: Lexie enjoys peaceful moments and likes having her own little nook to unwind in. She’s independent and chooses affection on her terms, occasionally settling beside her person when she feels social. Toys aren’t her priority, but she loves mealtime and finishes every bowl with enthusiasm. During storms or fireworks she appreciates being close, showing her sweetest, most tender side. Training and Manners Lexie and Codey are both housetrained when given regular outdoor breaks and have lovely manners. They walk politely on a leash and enjoy calm car rides, making outings simple and pleasant.  Codey: Codey sleeps soundly either in his bed or curled up beside his person and quickly adapts to the rhythm of his home. Once he feels settled, he lets his human know when he needs to go outside, adding a thoughtful, communicative touch to his easygoing nature. Lexie: Lexie settles comfortably in her dog bed at night and enjoys a calm, predictable routine. She allows being picked up with gentle caution and moves through her day with a soft, steady ease that makes her feel right at home. Health and Care  Lexie and Codey are both microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will need monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives, just like any other dog. Codey: Codey is neutered and also enjoys soft food, eating well and maintaining a healthy appetite. His grooming routine is easy, and he stays relaxed throughout baths and trims. Lexie: Lexie is spayed and despite having no teeth, eats beautifully and finishes her meals with enthusiasm. Monthly grooming keeps her comfortable, and she handles it with patient cooperation. Other Animals: Lexie and Codey are comfortable with dogs of all sizes and greet them with gentle curiosity. Their calm nature makes them easy companions for friendly canine households. Cats aren’t the right match for their interest level, but they blend beautifully into homes with respectful dogs. Children: Both dogs have experience with children of all ages and handle interactions with patience and softness. Their steady, easygoing personalities make them wonderful companions for families who teach kids to be kind to senior pups. Ideal Home: Codey and Lexie would thrive in a quiet, loving home where their people are around often. They enjoy calm environments, predictable routines, and spaces where they can rest comfortably. Apartment or condo living suits them well as long as they receive regular outdoor breaks and companionship. They balance independence with affection and appreciate having their humans close throughout the day. Overall: Codey and Lexi are a bonded pair of gentle, loyal seniors who bring warmth, sweetness, and peaceful companionship wherever they go. They complement each other beautifully — one calm and observant, the other social and devoted — and together they offer a comforting, heartwarming presence. They’re ready to share their golden years with a family who will cherish their soft spirits and give them the loving home they deserve. Are you the one for this pair? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, their foster family will reach out with more information. Their adoption donation is $250 for BOTH PUPS. ##2709876##

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Elio is an approx 7yo, 14lb., white miniature poodle. He arrived at the shelter as a super-matted stray that had clearly been abused and neglected and had painful dental disease. He has come a very long way. Elio received a dental cleaning and extractions along with a neuter. Elio will go stand by the door when he wants to go outside, but has also used doggy diapers. He is crate trained, but strongly prefers a large dog crate with a dog bed or pillow inside, with the top and sides covered in blankets. Elio sleeps through the night in his crate without issue if the front of his crate is also covered by a blanket. Elio walks well on a leash and knows commands such as “let’s go,” “free,” and “this way.” Elio also knows “sit,” “stay,” “here,” “leave it,” and “find it.” Elio is super smart and very food motivated, which makes him easy to train. Elio gets along with all dogs, but he has resource-guarded a Kong filled with peanut butter, so it’s important to let him enjoy that type of enrichment in a separate space, such as a crate or different room. Elio really loves his soft toys too, especially crinkle toys. He will follow you from room to room and transfer his toys from place to place one toy at a time. Elio is afraid of new people and may react with fear aggression; he can also be reactive to people putting their hands near his face and may give a warning snap or growl. This means his adopter will have to be very patient, do a slow introduction, and wait for him to warm up because Elio is still learning that most humans are good and kind and won’t hurt him. When Elio left the shelter, it took five days for him to start to trust his foster parents. He currently lives with a male and a female foster parent, 3 dogs and 2 cats. Elio doesn’t have a prey drive to the cats, but he will bark at them in the same way he will bark at strangers. Elio regularly goes to work with his foster mom at Diversity K9, where he has been successfully socialized with many small dogs under 35 pounds and with all types of play styles. Initially, Elio is very much a shy softy who will prefer to just exist with other dogs in the play yard, but when he gets really comfortable with other dogs in his home, he will get the zoomies and play with other dogs. When this happens, Elio seems like a young, playful puppy. When Elio rides in the car, he needs to be tethered  or else he will climb into your lap. He is a very quiet rider, but he is so anxious that he will start to drool a lot and may vomit. His foster parents have been working on correcting this negative association by feeding him his dinner in the car while it is parked in the driveway, and they are already seeing a positive change. This only takes a minute, as he eats all his food right away. He loves to play fetch and will play fetch for as long as you are willing to play with him. Out of an abundance of caution, his foster parents will use at least two toys when playing fetch and do a trade rather than try to take a toy from Elio’s mouth or directly from in front of him. Elio is microchipped and wears a collar at all times with a trackable AirTag, identification tag, and rabies tag, because rescue dogs can be a high flight risk, especially in a new environment. Elio is super loving, but very protective of his people. With time and the right chance, he will become extremely bonded and loyal to his adopter. After everything Elio has survived, he is beyond deserving of his happily ever after! We are adopting Elio to an all-adult home only. He will need regular brushing and grooming. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Elio, complete an app and tell us more about you.September 26, 2026, 6:37 pm
