Story
Meet Radar!Radar is nakey because he came to us as one big tangled, matted disaster. He's a poodle/shih tzu mix so you can imagine just how much hair there was and just how tangled those tangles were. It goes without saying that he will need regular grooming and coat maintenance going forward so that doesn't happen again because it wasn't fun for anyone involved, least of all for Radar.Radar is about 2.5yo and he's just over 15lbs. He's a small dog with a big voice, lots to say, and an exhausting amount of energy. Shared walls/apartments may not be ideal because of his big voice and his penchant for sharing his opinions whether you like it or not. He gots REALLY excited when he sees someone that he likes and that's when a lot of his shouting happens. He is an extrovert to the EXTREME. His social battery does not drain or run out. He thrives on social interaction and attention. Without attention, he will surely fade and wither away like a flower without sunshine. He has no reservations about climbing all over you from the first moment he meets you. He will need to stop and say hello to every single person you pass when you go for walks. He is such an extrovert that he has the tendency to almost choke himself out in his desperation to go and say hello to someone. He's got a pretty strong pull for a little shrimp like him.Radar LOVES other dogs...maybe a little too much because it's very much like he wants to be in their skin with them. So, you know, a tolerant dog that doesn't mind his Buffalo Bill tendencies would be best. He is terrified of cats so dog-friendly cats would be fine as long as they don't bully him. Kids 8+ would be best, especially if they'll play with him and help him burn off some of that wild child energy. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com.

Story
Meet Magpie — your future adventure buddy and cuddle companion 🐾Magpie may have had a rough start—abandoned as a young dog in Tennessee and left to fend for herself—but you’d never know it from the loving, joyful girl she is today. She’s now safe in foster care and thriving. Magpie is:• Friendly and affectionate• Great with other dogs and cats• Crate-trained and house-trained•Good with children Like many young dogs, she’s full of enthusiasm! She may pull a bit on leash and is still working on manners like jumping and counter-surfing—but she’s incredibly eager to please and responds well to positive training.Magpie would do best with an adopter who can offer a little patience as she continues to grow and learn. She has a few typical young-dog quirks, and her foster mom is happy to share more details. With love, consistency, and continued training, she’s already showing what an amazing companion she’ll be.Magpie is the best of both worlds:🏃‍♀️ A natural athlete who would love hikes, walks, and outdoor adventures🛋️ A snuggly sweetheart who happily rolls over for belly rubsShe rides great in the car, hops in on her own, and is always ready to be part of whatever you’re doing. With her solid temperament and loving nature, Magpie is going to make an amazing companion for a lucky adopter.Ready to give this beautiful girl the forever home she deserves? Story
This little man is approx. 3-4 years old of pure cuteness. Tippy came to us via a woman in Mississippi who could not keep him - we don't know exactly why and can't figure it out because his foster mom said he is literally perfect. He's getting along with all the other dogs in the foster home (and there are many). He is working on housetraining, but crating has not been an issue, and he's learning quickly. He's fantastic in the car - loves to just stare out the window. He has a little "wobble" in his gait, which we had a veterinarian check out with exam and X-rays - there is no evidence of any bony or physical deformity that would cause it.Tippy is heading to New England on 4-10 and will be fostered in Massachusetts after arrival. We will update more as we learn more about this little man.Name: TippyBreed: Poodle/Shih Tzu   (Breed mx is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 4 years  (estimated)Weight: 14 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:    Tennessee  Texas  Arkansas  New England, MississippiIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Nick Dean is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!      Meet Nick — your future best friend Nick is truly the total package: sweet, gentle, and already off to an amazing start with his training. This good boy has had no accidents and settles beautifully in his crate, only needing one quick potty break overnight. For a young pup, that’s seriously impressive! Nick absolutely loves people — including kids — and is happiest when he’s near his humans. While he can be a little shy at first, it doesn’t take long for his warm, affectionate personality to shine through. Once he feels comfortable, he’s eager to connect and will happily soak up all the love and attention you can give. He’s also very social with other dogs and has a naturally submissive personality. Nick looks up to more confident, older dogs for guidance, which makes him a great candidate for a home with a canine role model to help him continue building confidence. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving puppy who’s already showing great manners and just needs a little patience as he blossoms, Nick might be the perfect fit. His sweet nature and eagerness to bond make him the kind of dog who will quickly become a cherished member of the family. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
James was adopted into a home with other dogs but is having difficulty with sharing the home. His adopter has made the difficult decision to rehome James. He is a 2 year old Poodle/Doberman/Akita. He is neutered and was just seen at the vet for a check up. When asked to describe James, we were told he is loving, playful and quick to learn. If you are looking to add an easy companion who prefers the company of people over other animals, send us an email at support@almosthomeri.org We are asking a donation be made to the rescue in lieu of our standard adoption fee.
