Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Skylar! She is approximately 10 months old, 48 lbs currently and she may have some Doodle in her mix! Skylar was surrendered after her family decided they didn`t have time for her. In her foster home, she is working hard on her house training, crate training and leash walking. She could join households with kids 10+ and other dogs. She has not been exposed to cats. Her foster says, `Skylar is a gorgeous pup. She is perfect in the car, was perfect at her vet appointment, does well in her crate, and is non-destructive. She has only had a few accidents inside. She loves to play outside and will run after toys when you throw them but hasn`t learned to bring them back. She`s really a wonderful girl and will be a lot of fun for some lucky family.`She is available for adoption in N Dartmouth on September 11 or possibly earlier. Story
James was adopted into a home with other dogs but is having difficulty with sharing the home. His adopter has made the difficult decision to rehome James. He is a 2 year old Poodle/Doberman/Akita. He is neutered and was just seen at the vet for a check up. When asked to describe James, we were told he is loving, playful and quick to learn. If you are looking to add an easy companion who prefers the company of people over other animals, send us an email at support@almosthomeri.org We are asking a donation be made to the rescue in lieu of our standard adoption fee.

Story
Lucca Local  is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Lucca is a handsome 1.5-year-old, 65 lb Standard Poodle looking for a patient, experienced home. Like many poodles, he's incredibly smart, loyal, and forms deep bonds with his people. But Lucca missed out on important socialization as a puppy, so the world can feel like a scary place. He needs a securely fenced yard, another confident dog in the home, and an adopter with experience managing fearful, flight-risk dogs. Lucca enjoys spending time outside, quietly exploring the yard, and once he trusts you, he'll seek you out for affection and companionship. This is not a dog who will be ready to take walks around the neighborhood on day one. He needs someone who understands that trust is earned through patience, consistency, and kindness. If you're ready to show Lucca that love takes time and that he's finally safe, you'll gain a devoted companion.    ***due to clinic delays this pup will be available for adoption with the collection of an additional $100.00 spay/neuter voucher  deposit *** If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Be sure to check our Facebook page "Rhode Home Rescue" for details on upcoming events and other announcements.September 2, 2026, 12:33 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 1.5 years (as of 7/20/26) Weight: 35 lbs. (as of 7/15/26) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Young Logan is a handsome fluff ball of a guy who stands out in a crowd. He is a Blue Merle color and a Poodle mix. Logan is a total love. He loves squeaky toys, fetch, walks, playgroup, meeting new people and then likes to cuddle for some down time in your lap and is happy to chill. He is an active dog who loves to play, but is also happy to settle on the couch and recharge! He has been stressed in the crate, but has been left alone for up to 3 hours without any destruction.  He enjoys a car ride and has been fine in the car in his crate as well. Logan is a smart boy and has not had any accidents in the house. He is working on his leash walking skills and may pull some but is also working on walking on a loose leash and is making progress. Logan has gotten along with all of the people (men, women and kids) and dogs he has met so far. He has been living with other dogs in his foster home. He likes some chase play and tug of war with his pup friends during playgroup. Logan has been interested in cats when meeting them but stays calm and responds to being corrected so he may be fine with kitties as well, but we don't have information on him living with them. Logan's foster family describes him as outgoing, resilient and carefree and points out that two things they love about him are his great personality and beautiful coat coloring. They said that he is a perfect houseguest in their home. Good boy, Logan! We don't know much about Logan's background but we do know that he seems to be an all around "go with the flow" kind of good guy. Logan would be a great addition to any family and will use his great goofy personality to entertain you and brighten your days.  An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 2, 2026, 9:56 am
