Story
Meet Butters! Butters is a beautiful gray tabby girl born in July who currently weighs about 5 lbs. She and her brother, Links, were found on a rainy night abandoned on a dirt road in rural Alabama, but this little kitten has proven to be a resilient and joyful little spirit. Butters is fast, playful, and full of fun. She loves climbing the cat tree, scratching on her scratch pad, and chasing toys during playtime. When she’s done exploring, she’s happy to be picked up and will reward you with sweet, content purrs. This playful girl is litter box trained and ready to find a loving forever home where she can continue to play, explore, and be adored. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate kitten to brighten your days, Butters might be the perfect match. 🐾🐱 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Meet Links! Links is an adorable gray tabby boy born in July who currently weighs about 5 lbs. He and his sister, Butters, were found on a rainy night abandoned on a dirt road in rural Alabama, but this little survivor hasn’t let his rough start dim his bright spirit. True to his name, Links is fast as lightning! He loves racing around, climbing the cat tree, and turning playtime into his own little adventure. When the zoomies are over, he’s just as happy being held and will reward you with a loud, happy purr. Links is a fun-loving, sweet kitten who enjoys both playtime and affection. He’s also litter box trained and ready to settle into a loving forever home. If you’re looking for a playful little buddy who will keep you entertained and then curl up purring in your arms, Links might be your perfect match. 🐾🐱 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Emmie has been with us for a year and is fully litterbox trained. She loves cardboard scratchers and hasn’t touched the furniture since we started using them. Her owner, my best friend Lisa, lived with us until she passed away from leukemia. I promised Lisa I would find Emmie a loving home. Emmie was a feral kitten and had one litter very young. She was later spayed and released and has one clipped ear. She once lived with a dog and they mostly ignored each other. Since the dog left, Emmie has become more affectionate and relaxed, so she would likely do best without dogs. She’s been indoor/outdoor since October and enjoys sunning on the porch. She loves snuggling on the couch or bed but needs time to warm up. With new people she may hide at first. She isn’t feisty with other cats and simply watches the neighborhood cat from a distance. Emmie just needs someone patient to love her.

Story
Carmen has been with me for approximately two years. All was fine until I adopted a service dog in training for my combat PTSD. I adopted her with another cat (Sonny) that is a male. Now He and Rocky get along very well. Carmen, not so much as she clearly very unhappy. Not eating as much, and is acting out towards Sonny and Rocky. I've tried all sorts of ways to dispell this without success. She does have her own traveling bag, litter pan, food, brush, food, toys, & and Vet here in Dothan. Other than her dismay of having a dog around she is a lovely cat. Typically aloof in a cool and distant way, but is loving, not aggressive. Hiding more than often, though Rocky is very gentle & amped up playful, & patient with her, but sadly her "talk to the paw" demeanor has him walking away wondering why ... it's almost comical. This can't go on as she is not eating as she was or should. I have contemplated having Sonny accompany her if she finds herself at a loss without him. Time tells all
