Story
Cassandra is a lovely grey tabby who was living outside in Northern Ontario with various other relatives, until one day she walked into someone's enclosed porch and made friends. After a long day of travel, she arrived at an AbbeyCats foster home incredibly scared. However, after a couple of days of decompression, Cassandra has opened up and showed us how much she likes to be inside with people's attention. Cassandra loves to lie on the window sill and watch the bug, birds, and plants. While she is still scared of other noises, she doesn't hide anymore when we walk into her room. She greets us with a meow and begins to purr, rubbing up on our legs and asking for pets. She also loves to be brushed! Cassandra would likely do best in a quiet and calm home with adults and perhaps older teens who will give her the time to feel safe and secure. They will be rewarded by her sweet eyes and enthusiastic purrs.

Story
**CURRENTLY IN PROCESS OF ADOPTION - AWAITING FINALIZATION**Eggbert came to me as a foster kitten from a rural farm at the tender age of 3 weeks. With lots of love and care he has now made it to a healthy 8 weeks old.At first, he seemed shy and cautious. Always more inclined to watch and learn from his surroundings rather than dive right into something new and figure it out on the way. He was a big contrast to his more energetic and outgoing sister. However, while he was a bit more reserved at first he was the first of the two to figure out how to use the litter box, and to move from bottle feeding to soft food to dry food. Since his sister has moved on to her "furever" home, Eggbert has really come out of his shell. He is very energetic, can be chatty, and loves to play with his big foster brother; or anyone else that turns their attention his way. Eggy is a sweetheart and would do well in a home with or without other cats.

Wilma is one of many siblings born outside. She is a darling, loving little girl always ready for a chin scratch and cuddle. She is playful and holds her own with her brothers. She would be a great addition to any family! She is FIV/FelV negative, flea treated and dewormed, up to date on her vaccines and will come with a voucher for her spay at 6 months, done in Woodstock at our vet. To facilitate the spay surgery, applications from locations within half an hour distance from Woodstock will be considered. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING! An adoption application can be found at www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com (click on Adopt, then Cats for Adoption, then scroll to the bottom of the page). We require 2 non-familial references (including contact numbers) as well as permission to speak with your vet. Please note that yearly vet visits are a requirement for all our adopted kitties. If this is not your past practice, your application will not move forward. You must be 21 years old to adopt. The adoption fee is $200. It may take up to 72 hours to approve your application. Please provide all requested information, including contact numbers, to help expedite the process. Repeated phone calls and emails will not move your application along. We are a volunteer, foster based rescue. We are not able to facilitate meet and greets before an application is received. You are not able to meet multiple kitties to see if one fits as the animals may be fostered in different locations. Please help us get the kitties to their forever homes by respecting these guidelines!

Story
Ginny is a very smart girl. She was the last of siblings to be born, but the first at everything else. She was the first to eat solid food, use the litter pan, climb out of their enclosure, plus many other things. She loves to run and play with her siblings, but is often content to cuddle on her foster grandma's lap and just watch. She has never met a child or dog, but would be fine with proper introductions. She is FIV/FelV negative, flea treated and dewormed, up to date on her vaccines and have been spayed. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING! Wasabi is one of many kittens who began his life outdoors, without human touch. He's now a sweet little guy who has changed his spicy ways! He loves cuddles with his foster momma, belly rubs and chin scratches. Chasing crinkle balls and wand toys are favorites! This little one and her brother Griffin were found outside, unwell. She has fully recovered and is healthy and ready for her new family. Story
Meet Flounder — a 2–3-year-old former street survivor with the face of a prizefighter and the heart of a shy little poet. This handsome guy looks like he’s spent the last several months doing twelve rounds in back alleys and surviving on grit alone. Think Rocky Balboa in cat form: rough around the edges, a little weathered, and carrying the unmistakable look of someone who’s seen some things. Life on the streets clearly wasn’t easy for Flounder, and he wears that history in his scruffy, tough-guy appearance. But unlike Rocky, Flounder isn’t charging confidently into the spotlight. Underneath that rugged exterior is a nervous, gentle soul who likely survived by staying hidden — skulking in corners, keeping to the shadows, and only venturing out when the world felt safe enough. He’s cautious with people and still learning that he no longer has to fend for himself. And then there’s his meow. For such a rough-and-tumble-looking fellow, Flounder has the tiniest, meekest little mew imaginable — like he’s politely apologizing for taking up space. It’s impossible not to root for him. Flounder doesn’t need much: just a calm home, a patient person, and the chance to finally trade survival mode for soft blankets and regular meals. He may take time to trust, but with kindness and understanding, we think this former street cat is more than ready to discover the joys of being a pampered housecat. Every tough guy deserves a happy ending. Flounder’s just hoping his starts with you. Story
Meet Starfish — a beautiful 3-year-old grey tabby and white lady with a gentle spirit and a thoughtful, observant nature. Starfish is on the shy side and prefers to take her time getting comfortable in new spaces, often choosing a cozy hiding spot where she can quietly watch the world go by. Once she feels safe, Starfish will start to show her sweet side. She’s happy to come out for calm company and enjoys gentle, respectful pets from people she trusts. Those quiet moments of connection are where she truly shines — soft, subtle, and sincere. Starfish is not yet comfortable with being handled extensively, and she can find medical procedures stressful. She’ll need a patient home that understands this and is willing to give her the time and space she needs to build trust at her own pace, without pressure or expectation. With kindness, consistency, and respect for her boundaries, Starfish has every chance to blossom into a deeply rewarding companion. She’s looking for a calm, understanding home where she can feel safe enough to slowly come out of her shell and be loved exactly as she is. Story
Smokey came into the shelter with her 5 kittens. Now that her kittens have grown and are off to homes, she is looking for a home of her own! Mama is a gentle, soulful girl whose personality blooms beautifully with time, patience, and love. When she first arrived, she preferred to hide away from the world — but once she learned she was safe, her sweet and quirky personality began to shine. Now, Smokey has her own special way of showing affection: carrying shoes around the house while singing little meows along the way. Crocs are her favourite treasure to relocate, whether she’s tucking them under the couch or thoughtfully leaving them outside your bedroom door overnight — her own adorable love language. She has bonded wonderfully with children in her foster home, and enjoys sunny naps on the cat tree, window watching, mealtimes, and the occasional burst of zoomies. Smokey prefers affection on her terms and enjoys gentle companionship more than being picked up or cuddled. This sweet, sensitive lady is looking for a calm home filled with soft love, sunny windows, and patient humans who will appreciate her quiet charm and unique personality. Smokey would prefer a dog-free home, as puppies and dogs are not her thing. ❌🐶❌ Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only.
