Story
Nugget is truly one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet. He’s such a little love bug — gentle, affectionate, and always ready to cuddle. He gets along with absolutely everyone, greeting people with his kind eyes and soft heart. Nugget loves to be held close, and nothing makes him happier than curling up beside you, feeling safe and loved. He has a way of making every moment feel a little softer, a little warmer. It breaks my heart that I can’t keep him, because he deserves all the love and comfort this world can offer. Please, if you welcome him into your home, give him the affection he so freely gives to others. Nugget isn’t just a pet — he’s a companion full of love, loyalty, and warmth who will fill your days with sweetness and your nights with peace.

Story
Hello! This is Peanut; I got him when he was about 5-6 weeks old. He was bottle fed and babied until he grew into a big boy - he’s been 15-20lbs throughout his adulthood. A family member has his sisters and they’re big cats as well; he’s fed an appropriate, vet-approved diet. He can be very sweet & cuddly, but can play a bit rough due to being raised by himself & not around any other cats/animals. He’s an *excellent* napping buddy. He has also been around another adult male cat and, although he was standoffish for the short few weeks that cat lived in our home, after being properly introduced over 1-2 weeks he did well with him. He can also be very active & playful, and loves chasing a ball. He is indoor ONLY! Unfortunately, my child has an allergy to him despite regular grooming & he can get stressed around small kids. He does NOT do well around dogs. I fear taking him to a shelter for obvious reasons & hope to find him an owner that would baby him the way I have as his mom. <3

Story
Boots has been our cat since adopting him as a kitten about 18 months ago. He is a very energetic, curious and above all intelligent cat. He's a big boy but very cuddly and affectionate. We think there may have been neglect before he came to us so we hope to find a home that will invest time with him. He is very playful and needs the interaction. We have to give him away due to circumstances out of our control - not because of behavioral issues. Shots are current. I'll include a cat box and his food/water bowls.

Story
Chloe is a female tabby originally adopted as a rescue kitten ~7 years ago. She is very easygoing and affectionate and purrs at the drop of a hat (I used to call her Buzzsaw). She is house trained, well behaved and would be ideal for an older person looking for a low maintenance companion. Shots are current and there are no health issues. I would say she is a medium size cat - maybe a little compact compared to most cats. In the past she was indoor/outdoor but has been inside-only for almost 3 years. She still has claws and the instincts to hunt rodents etc. She is pretty mellow and does well with all kinds of people including children. She is almost bizarrely calm around dogs but will run if chased. Looking for a good home. This has been our main family pet but has to go due to circumstances out of our control. She deserves a worthy new owner. I can include the cat box and water/food bowls.

Story
NAME: Harvey Sex: male Color/Pattern: tan tabby with white tuxedo Breed: dsh Weight: med BDAY approx: June 17 2021 Coat length: short Description Harvey is a type-A, friendly, responsive talker who runs up to you for attention. A Velcro kitty who is your shadow. Personality Harvey doesn't think there is anyone in the world who isn’t his best friend. He is so outgoing, super smart and wants to communicate. He can get frustrated if you don't understand what he wants. He would be a good candidate to be trained to use the talking buttons you see on social media. He often prefers attention from people over food. He is independent and bold, brave and affectionate. Harvey was big and muscular when he came to GNAR, but after being neutered, has slimmed down. He was very successful as an outdoor cat. Resourceful and generous with helping other cats, and sweet talking people not-so-subtly to bend to his will. He is a kitty politician. If you are a dog person, this is the cat for you. You could probably teach him tricks. He is attentive and wants you to please him : D Background Harvey and Necia were found as strays together. Outgoing Harvey showed up first outside of an industrial building where the employees started to gain his trust and feed him. Uber-friendly Harvey accepted their invitations for friendship after a short while, and soon started inviting himself inside the front door, so they decided it was probably time to look for a new home for him. After he then also brought his new girlfriend Necia to join him, everyone started worrying that there would be kittens if they didn’t do something to prevent it soon. Harvey was very protective of Necia, so they didn’t get chance to get close enough to her to see if she was also tame. Once the 2 cats started getting too bold and trying to come indoors to the office, the employee contacted GNAR to help find a home for them. So they borrowed traps, and brought them to their new foster home. Harvey continued to guard Necia, so the foster home separated them to let Necia show her true personality. Harvey also sweetened up more after he was relieved of his perceived responsibility as Necia's protector and provider. Compatibility Dogs - yes Cats - yes Kids - yes, older If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit with my foster home!

Story
NAME: Umami Sex: Male Color/Pattern: brown tabby Breed: short Hair Age at intake: 8 weeks BDAY approx: March 26, 2024 Intake date : May 14, 2024 Description Umami is a cuddly, outgoing, affectionate, very handsome kitten. Personality Umami was confident and an extrovert the day he was found. Even though he had never been held by a human before when found at 8 weeks old, he had no problem with it. He was a bit scared for the 1st few days but as soon as you picked him up he melted into a puddle of purrs. He loves to explore and has no fear. He is very curious and is oblivious that some other animals may want to eat him. He will burst out of a doorway, run right up to a large new dog, slipping through the bars of a babygate to join the pack. Umami is talented at jumping up onto a counter to get closer to you. He is a daredevil, talker and enthusiastic eater. Patience is not his forte and he will make sure you know it. Background Umami was found in front of a house all alone after a big storm in southwest Houston on Mon May 13. His momma never came back for him. His finder brought him to a foster home who had 3 bottle baby kittens of about the same age and added him to the litter of orphans. He was just old enough to already be able to lap kitten formula for himself and eat solid food. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit at my foster home or local Petsmart!

Story
Meet Saaya, a gorgeous black beauty who was most likely dumped in the Richmond 77407/77406 area. Despite what she’s been through, she remains incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate. The kind family who found her truly wants to help her find a loving home, but their resident cat isn’t a fan, and the neighborhood strays have been picking on her. Saaya’s name means “shadow” in Hindi, a fitting name for this graceful girl who follows her humans quietly and loves to be near them. She’s under a year old, absolutely stunning, and will soon be fully vetted and ready for adoption. This beautiful soul deserves a safe and loving home where she can feel protected and adored. Please share Saaya’s story so she can find her forever family. FOSTER- furryfriendsaa.org/foster/ ADOPT- furryfriendsaa.org/adopt/

Story
Chestnut and Ember are officially ready to bring warmth and joy into their forever home. Born approximately 8/1/2025, these sweet kittens were rescued from BARC’s euthanasia list with their mama and siblings when they were only 3 weeks old. Now they have grown, are fixed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped — healthy, happy, and ready to start their new lives. Chestnut is the cozy one, a soft and snuggly sweetheart who loves curling up with his sister and settling in for a long nap. Ember is the spark of the pair, a bright little adventurer who brings playful energy everywhere she goes. They play together, nap together, and balance each other beautifully, so we would love to see them stay together. If you are ready to welcome this adorable duo into your home, please apply at furryfriendsaa.org/adopt/
