Story
NAME: Harvey Sex: male Color/Pattern: tan tabby with white tuxedo Breed: dsh Weight: med BDAY approx: June 17 2021 Coat length: short Description Harvey is a type-A, friendly, responsive talker who runs up to you for attention. A Velcro kitty who is your shadow. Personality Harvey doesn't think there is anyone in the world who isn’t his best friend. He is so outgoing, super smart and wants to communicate. He can get frustrated if you don't understand what he wants. He would be a good candidate to be trained to use the talking buttons you see on social media. He often prefers attention from people over food. He is independent and bold, brave and affectionate. Harvey was big and muscular when he came to GNAR, but after being neutered, has slimmed down. He was very successful as an outdoor cat. Resourceful and generous with helping other cats, and sweet talking people not-so-subtly to bend to his will. He is a kitty politician. If you are a dog person, this is the cat for you. You could probably teach him tricks. He is attentive and wants you to please him : D Background Harvey and Necia were found as strays together. Outgoing Harvey showed up first outside of an industrial building where the employees started to gain his trust and feed him. Uber-friendly Harvey accepted their invitations for friendship after a short while, and soon started inviting himself inside the front door, so they decided it was probably time to look for a new home for him. After he then also brought his new girlfriend Necia to join him, everyone started worrying that there would be kittens if they didn’t do something to prevent it soon. Harvey was very protective of Necia, so they didn’t get chance to get close enough to her to see if she was also tame. Once the 2 cats started getting too bold and trying to come indoors to the office, the employee contacted GNAR to help find a home for them. So they borrowed traps, and brought them to their new foster home. Harvey continued to guard Necia, so the foster home separated them to let Necia show her true personality. Harvey also sweetened up more after he was relieved of his perceived responsibility as Necia's protector and provider. Story
NAME: Umami Sex: Male Color/Pattern: brown tabby Breed: short Hair Age at intake: 8 weeks BDAY approx: March 26, 2024 Intake date : May 14, 2024 Description Umami is a cuddly, outgoing, affectionate, very handsome kitten. Personality Umami was confident and an extrovert the day he was found. Even though he had never been held by a human before when found at 8 weeks old, he had no problem with it. He was a bit scared for the 1st few days but as soon as you picked him up he melted into a puddle of purrs. He loves to explore and has no fear. He is very curious and is oblivious that some other animals may want to eat him. He will burst out of a doorway, run right up to a large new dog, slipping through the bars of a babygate to join the pack. Umami is talented at jumping up onto a counter to get closer to you. He is a daredevil, talker and enthusiastic eater. Patience is not his forte and he will make sure you know it. Background Umami was found in front of a house all alone after a big storm in southwest Houston on Mon May 13. His momma never came back for him. His finder brought him to a foster home who had 3 bottle baby kittens of about the same age and added him to the litter of orphans. He was just old enough to already be able to lap kitten formula for himself and eat solid food. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit at my foster home or local Petsmart!

Story
Olivia is a beautiful young adult tabby, about 3 years old, with a soft grey striped coat that looks even prettier in person. She’s a social girl who loves staying close to her humans, whether that means curling up nearby while you work or following you from room to room just to be part of things. Playtime is Olivia’s favorite part of the day. Her beloved toy mouse goes everywhere with her, and she’ll happily entertain herself… but she loves when you join in even more. Olivia is being rehomed due to a move into a smaller space She’s used to having more room to explore, stretch, and perch, and we want her to find a home that gives her the space and enrichment she deserves. She’ll thrive in a calm, loving environment where she can roam comfortably and soak up attention. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion with a playful streak and a loyal heart, Olivia might be the perfect match. She can’t wait to meet her new family.

Story
About 8 months ago a friend reached out that had a sister that was sick and a single mom and needed someone to take her sweet cat. We brought Mosie home to already 2 cats and 1 dog. We have tried all the things but she is bullied by the other animals. She is stressed. She is very very sweet and loves to snuggle but the other animals do not like it. She needs a good home and would make a wonderful addition because of her peaceful and loving demeanor.

Story
LOVES TO CUDDLE, PLAY, AND ENTERTAIN  DOB 5/18/22 Hey there, everyone! I’m Mikey, a sweet, friendly, curious, playful, and entertaining “bicolor,” which means that I'm mostly white with grey tabby on my head, back, and tail. I got my name from a 1972 Quaker Oaks “Mikey Likes It” commercial of a toddler who would “eat anything.” That’s me, and I’m not ashamed at all! There are cats starving in China, so no food should be tossed out! You see, my family moved out of their apartment and left me behind to fend for myself outside. I’m a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, so I made the best of my situation. I enjoyed climbing trees, chasing squirrels, and following folks when they walked their dogs. I assumed that an open apartment door was an invitation for me to mosey on in, and everyone adored me. Only problem was, nobody wanted to adopt a stray cat, which is what I really wanted. So “I ate anything” until my future foster meowmy decided that she wanted to foster me until she could find me my forever home with a family who’d never abandon me again. Here I am in my foster home, happy as a lark with the other kitties. I love to cuddle beside Foster Meowmy as we binge on Netflix and Animal Planet, and when she heads for bed, I curl up at her feet. And boy howdy! I love to entertain my hoomans when we interactively play with feather wand-toys and laser pointers as well as when I play soccer with my crinkle balls and catnip mice. I’d be a great kids’ playmate as long as they knew that I don’t like to be picked up. Arrange to meet me today! Incidentally, there are advantages to adopting a kitty like me who’s past the stage of kitten mayhem. I’m much less likely to cause chaos in your home or break any of your treasured accessories. HOPE ID 23-1118-S004 Mikey's $125 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. To apply online: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/cat-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Mikey will be this weekend, email us at nancy.e.kline@hotmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you. ADORABLE LITTLE MISCHIEF-MAKERS  DOB 3/29/25 Hey there, everyone! We’re Florence and Frida, an inseparable pair of almost-identical tortoiseshell twin sisters. Our foster pawrents tell us apart because I (Frida) have white mittens on my front paws and high white boots on my back legs as well as a splash or apricot on my forehead. We were born in foster care to a stray momma who had been rescued, so we've been handled a lot from the get-go. We both love it when our foster pawrents lavish us with loving attention. In fact, we expect to be cooed over! Once I (Florence) got comfy with my foster hoomans' coddling me, I was the first to vocalize my complaint when I noticed that they weren’t focusing enough on us; however, now I (Frida) am not afraid to add my voice to the choir in demanding more attention when we’ve been ignored. I (Frida) am the leader of the two of us, so I’m usually the first to investigate new experiences, and I (Florence) usually follow not far behind. Our foster pawrents call us their little troublemakers, and we are making an effort to learn our boundaries and restrictions. It’s difficult to find us when we’re not together. We tumble and pounce, climb and wrestle, and when we’re exhausted, we collapse in a kitten puddle. Now we’re ready to bring our frenetic kitten energy, sociability, and mischief-making to our forever family. Could that be you? Our foster pawrents are insisting that we be adopted together so we can be playmates and cuddle buddies while our hoomans are at work or on vacation. We promise to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys! Arrange to meet us today!! HOPE ID 25-0511-G093, G094 Florence & Frida’s $250 bonded-pair adoption fee includes spay/neuter basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. LAP CAT WHO PURRS AND CHATS DOB 5/31/25 Hey there, everyone! I’m Cheets, a friendly, affectionate, and snuggly “bicolor” fella, which means that I’m mostly white with red tabby on my head, “saddleback,” and tail. I adore spending quality time cuddling in Foster Meowmy’s lap because that’s where I can turn on my purr motor as well as chat with her about how our day is going. My favorite part of the day is our interactive playtime when she waves the wand toy over my head or snakes it around the room for me to chase. During my solitary moments, I enjoy watching “kitty TV” by basking in a patch of sunshine on the windowsill while I observe the birds fly by outside. I was about two months old with no momma or siblings in sight when I started showing up at Foster Meowmy’s community-cat feeding station behind a strip club. I’m very food-motivated, so all it took was her serving wet food to convince me that I could trust her. When she first took me home, I was initially shy as I adjusted to life indoors. With no dogs, kids, or other adults, the quiet peace of my foster home suited me to a “T.” I’m happy to report that it didn’t take me long to learn that it felt soooooooo good when Foster Meowmy scratched my cheeks, chin, and ears. One thing led to another, and voila, I was soon a very vocal, loving lap cat! To my delight, she soon rescued another orphaned red-and-white tabby gal named Cheeto, who is just two weeks younger than I am. Gosh! We look so much alike that you would think we are related except that I am noticeably larger than she is. We have a blast tumbling and pouncing, climbing and wrestling with each other, and when we’re exhausted, we collapse in a kitten puddle. I’m also super-friendly with the three resident cats, although it hurts my feelings that they don’t respond to my amiable overtures. Now I’m ready to be the lovable chatty-cat and loving purr-monster with my new family. Could that be with you? Although we’re available separately, Cheeto and I think it’d be the cat’s meow if we were adopted together so we could be playmates and cuddle buddies while you’re at work or on vacation. Arrange to meet me today! HOPE ID 25-0726-A064 Cheets’ $125 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites.
