Story
NAME: Harvey Sex: male Color/Pattern: tan tabby with white tuxedo Breed: dsh Weight: med BDAY approx: June 17 2021 Coat length: short Description Harvey is a type-A, friendly, responsive talker who runs up to you for attention. A Velcro kitty who is your shadow. Personality Harvey doesn't think there is anyone in the world who isn’t his best friend. He is so outgoing, super smart and wants to communicate. He can get frustrated if you don't understand what he wants. He would be a good candidate to be trained to use the talking buttons you see on social media. He often prefers attention from people over food. He is independent and bold, brave and affectionate. Harvey was big and muscular when he came to GNAR, but after being neutered, has slimmed down. He was very successful as an outdoor cat. Resourceful and generous with helping other cats, and sweet talking people not-so-subtly to bend to his will. He is a kitty politician. If you are a dog person, this is the cat for you. You could probably teach him tricks. He is attentive and wants you to please him : D Background Harvey and Necia were found as strays together. Outgoing Harvey showed up first outside of an industrial building where the employees started to gain his trust and feed him. Uber-friendly Harvey accepted their invitations for friendship after a short while, and soon started inviting himself inside the front door, so they decided it was probably time to look for a new home for him. After he then also brought his new girlfriend Necia to join him, everyone started worrying that there would be kittens if they didn’t do something to prevent it soon. Harvey was very protective of Necia, so they didn’t get chance to get close enough to her to see if she was also tame. Once the 2 cats started getting too bold and trying to come indoors to the office, the employee contacted GNAR to help find a home for them. So they borrowed traps, and brought them to their new foster home. Harvey continued to guard Necia, so the foster home separated them to let Necia show her true personality. Harvey also sweetened up more after he was relieved of his perceived responsibility as Necia's protector and provider. Story
NAME: Umami Sex: Male Color/Pattern: brown tabby Breed: short Hair Age at intake: 8 weeks BDAY approx: March 26, 2024 Intake date : May 14, 2024 Description Umami is a cuddly, outgoing, affectionate, very handsome kitten. Personality Umami was confident and an extrovert the day he was found. Even though he had never been held by a human before when found at 8 weeks old, he had no problem with it. He was a bit scared for the 1st few days but as soon as you picked him up he melted into a puddle of purrs. He loves to explore and has no fear. He is very curious and is oblivious that some other animals may want to eat him. He will burst out of a doorway, run right up to a large new dog, slipping through the bars of a babygate to join the pack. Umami is talented at jumping up onto a counter to get closer to you. He is a daredevil, talker and enthusiastic eater. Patience is not his forte and he will make sure you know it. Background Umami was found in front of a house all alone after a big storm in southwest Houston on Mon May 13. His momma never came back for him. His finder brought him to a foster home who had 3 bottle baby kittens of about the same age and added him to the litter of orphans. He was just old enough to already be able to lap kitten formula for himself and eat solid food. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit at my foster home or local Petsmart!

Story
Blu came into our lives about 11 years ago after we found him as a stray in the country and took him in. We aren’t sure of his exact age, but he was likely an adolescent at the time, making him approximately 12–13 years old. Blu is an incredibly affectionate, loving cat who enjoys being close to his people. He loves cuddles, seeks out attention, and has always been friendly with humans. He gets along well with other cats and has never been aggressive toward them. We also had a dog in the home for several years, and Blu coexisted peacefully without any issues. For most of his life, Blu has been excellent about using his litter box and has been a wonderful companion. However, since the arrival of our baby, he has developed some behavioral issues, including urinating on baby items and outside of the litter box. Given that this behavior began only after a major change in the household, we believe it may be related to stress, anxiety, or difficulty adjusting to sharing attention.

Story
Marshmallow was rescued as a kitten alongside her sister and has grown into a loving, affectionate cat with a personality all her own. As she matured, she decided she preferred having her space to herself and would thrive as the only pet in the home. With her humans, Marshmallow is incredibly sweet and gentle. She loves spending time with her people, whether she's chasing her favorite spring toy, batting at a string, or curling up for cuddles. She enjoys a calm, peaceful environment where she can relax and soak up all the attention. Marshmallow is looking for a home where she can reign as the queen of the household—without other cats or animals competing for her space. In return, she'll reward her family with affection, companionship, and plenty of snuggles. If you're looking for a loving feline friend who enjoys both playtime and quiet cuddle sessions, Marshmallow may be the perfect match for you!

Story
Hello, My name is Penn. I am a 2-year-old neutered male cat. Mom found me in our neighborhood when I was 2 weeks old. I am up-to-date on my vaccines. My family thinks I am highly intelligent, active, and deeply affectionate when I do not feel territorial. As such, I don't have normal feline boundaries and experience stress-induced behavioral triggers. My family has recently discovered that I get territorial toward the scent of outdoor cats. When they handle other strays, I experience a territorial fear response where I will sometimes urinate or defecate outside of my litter box. I have also gotten rough with the other indoor cat.I need an experienced owner who would like to solely enjoy my company. When I have your attention in a scent-free home, my anxiety drops and I am a very LOVING companion. My family is happy to provide supplies including bedding to support my transition. I hope to find someone who can love me as much as my parents do. Thank you so much.

Story
LOVES TO CUDDLE, PLAY, AND ENTERTAIN  DOB 5/18/22 Hey there, everyone! I’m Mikey, a sweet, friendly, curious, playful, and entertaining “bicolor,” which means that I'm mostly white with grey tabby on my head, back, and tail. I got my name from a 1972 Quaker Oaks “Mikey Likes It” commercial of a toddler who would “eat anything.” That’s me, and I’m not ashamed at all! There are cats starving in China, so no food should be tossed out! You see, my family moved out of their apartment and left me behind to fend for myself outside. I’m a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, so I made the best of my situation. I enjoyed climbing trees, chasing squirrels, and following folks when they walked their dogs. I assumed that an open apartment door was an invitation for me to mosey on in, and everyone adored me. Only problem was, nobody wanted to adopt a stray cat, which is what I really wanted. So “I ate anything” until my future foster meowmy decided that she wanted to foster me until she could find me my forever home with a family who’d never abandon me again. Here I am in my foster home, happy as a lark with the other kitties. I love to cuddle beside Foster Meowmy as we binge on Netflix and Animal Planet, and when she heads for bed, I curl up at her feet. And boy howdy! I love to entertain my hoomans when we interactively play with feather wand-toys and laser pointers as well as when I play soccer with my crinkle balls and catnip mice. I’d be a great kids’ playmate as long as they knew that I don’t like to be picked up. Arrange to meet me today! Incidentally, there are advantages to adopting a kitty like me who’s past the stage of kitten mayhem. I’m much less likely to cause chaos in your home or break any of your treasured accessories. HOPE ID 23-1118-S004 Mikey's $125 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. To apply online: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/cat-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Mikey will be this weekend, email us at nancy.e.kline@hotmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you. STANDS ON HER HIND LEGS TO BATTLE THE WAND TOY  DOB 11/11/24 Hey there, everyone I’m Neytiri, a beautiful pastel-gray tabby with a hint of cream who has the heart of a true princess warrior, just like my Avatar namesake. I’m affectionate and love head massages and chin scratches. I bond closely with my chosen hooman, so be prepared to gain a furry little shadow. I’ll dash to greet you at the door -- so rest assured, you’ll never come home to an empty house. Once I choose you as my person, my loyalty is deep and sacred. Outside of biscuit-making and petting sessions, playtime is my favorite thing. There is never a bad time to play! I’ll make you laugh as I stand on my two hind legs to engage in a royal battle with the wand toy. Just watch me soar comically through the air with impressive bounces to catch it mid-flight. Be sure to catch my wiggly-butt wind-up before a perfectly executed pounce. While I love being near you and rubbing up against you, I don’t need attention all day. I’m perfectly happy to lounge in my cuddler bed as I peacefully watch the world go by. I’m low-maintenance, a little sassy, very fun, and I absolutely have a mind of my own. A true princess prefers her space –so I’d love to be your one and only cat. My story started on the mean Houston streets when I hid under a broken car until a Good Samaritan began feeding me. Once I felt safe, I came right out to greet her and rubbed against her to say thank you. That joyful, grateful heart has stayed with me ever since. When I feel safe and loved, I give my whole heart back -- and you can truly feel how much I adore my people. I may be a little cautious when meeting new folks, but gentle pets and tasty snacks help me warm up quickly. Once I do, I’m the sweetest, most devoted companion who’s always nearby, always loyal -- just like you’d expect of a princess who has truly chosen her person. If you’re looking for a playful, joyful, loyal girl with big hops, a bigger heart, and a lifelong bond to give, I’m ready to leap into your life and take my place right by your side. HOPE ID 25-1115-S059 Neytiri’s $125 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites.
