A Velcro kitty who is your shadow. Personality Harvey doesn't think there is anyone in the world who isn’t his best friend. He is so outgoing, super smart and wants to communicate. He can get frustrated if you don't understand what he wants. He would be a good candidate to be trained to use the talking buttons you see on social media. He often prefers attention from people over food. He is independent and bold, brave and affectionate. Harvey was big and muscular when he came to GNAR, but after being neutered, has slimmed down. He was very successful as an outdoor cat. Resourceful and generous with helping other cats, and sweet talking people not-so-subtly to bend to his will. He is a kitty politician. If you are a dog person, this is the cat for you. You could probably teach him tricks. He is attentive and wants you to please him : D Background Harvey and Necia were found as strays together. Outgoing Harvey showed up first outside of an industrial building where the employees started to gain his trust and feed him. Uber-friendly Harvey accepted their invitations for friendship after a short while, and soon started inviting himself inside the front door, so they decided it was probably time to look for a new home for him. After he then also brought his new girlfriend Necia to join him, everyone started worrying that there would be kittens if they didn’t do something to prevent it soon. Harvey was very protective of Necia, so they didn’t get chance to get close enough to her to see if she was also tame. Once the 2 cats started getting too bold and trying to come indoors to the office, the employee contacted GNAR to help find a home for them. So they borrowed traps, and brought them to their new foster home. Harvey continued to guard Necia, so the foster home separated them to let Necia show her true personality. Harvey also sweetened up more after he was relieved of his perceived responsibility as Necia's protector and provider. NAME: Umami Sex: Male Color/Pattern: brown tabby Breed: short Hair Age at intake: 8 weeks BDAY approx: March 26, 2024 Intake date : May 14, 2024 Description Umami is a cuddly, outgoing, affectionate, very handsome kitten. Personality Umami was confident and an extrovert the day he was found. Even though he had never been held by a human before when found at 8 weeks old, he had no problem with it. He was a bit scared for the 1st few days but as soon as you picked him up he melted into a puddle of purrs. He loves to explore and has no fear. He is very curious and is oblivious that some other animals may want to eat him. He will burst out of a doorway, run right up to a large new dog, slipping through the bars of a babygate to join the pack. Umami is talented at jumping up onto a counter to get closer to you. He is a daredevil, talker and enthusiastic eater. Patience is not his forte and he will make sure you know it. Background Umami was found in front of a house all alone after a big storm in southwest Houston on Mon May 13. His momma never came back for him. His finder brought him to a foster home who had 3 bottle baby kittens of about the same age and added him to the litter of orphans. He was just old enough to already be able to lap kitten formula for himself and eat solid food. Meet Daisy, a unique feline companion who walks through life differently than most cats. Daisy, a beautiful calico, was brought to a local clinic for boarding about a year ago. Sadly, her owners never picked her up and left her to wonder why they had abandoned her. Despite this bump in her journey on her way to finding her forever home, Daisy is optimistic and greets each new person she meets with a friendly attitude. She loves to cuddle and gets along with most cats she’s introduced to. Daisy enjoys playing every now and then, however her walk makes it a bit difficult for her to jump and chase after toys. About Buttercup Buttercup is ready to find a new home and a new family she can call her own! You see, Buttercup’s owner was elderly and died suddenly. She loved her owner and spent her days sitting next to him on the couch or close by when he was sitting in his recliner. She misses his company and although she and her 2 “kitty siblings”, Radar Love and Rose Bud, were taken in by a kind cat rescuer, nothing replaces having a family of her own. Buttercup is a beautiful orange and white kitty with silky fur. She is a calm cat that will acclimate quickly to a new home. She enjoys being with her family and sitting quietly while you are watching TV, reading, or making dinner. She loves playtime and chasing the feathers on a wand through the air, but her favorite pastime is when she is pet or brushed. She is also very affectionate. Although not big on being held she does not hide, preferring to sit quietly in the room with her family. Always present, she comes running when you enter the room hoping that you want to give her the attention she deserves and a few pets or stroke of the brush – or both! Buttercup has been fully vaccinated, spayed, and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She will do well with other cats, respectful children, but she has never lived with a dog.
