Story
Silver came up to my front door as a small kitten. At the time, I had help to care for him but now, he only has me. He’s potty trained. Was raised with another cat, a Copper who is also up for adoption. He’s very friendly with people and dogs. He is semi-vocal and loves to play. He’s a good cat unfortunately, I am barely home to take care of him/both cats. I hope that I can find him a good home.

Story
We bottle raised her from 3 days old. She turns 3 in May. She is very sweet/loving once she warms up to you, when that is, varies greatly. She prefers female companions. The only male she’s ever been warm with is myself. She does not get along well with dogs. She doesn’t understand how to play with other cats without being too rough. Young children ITH are not recommended. We have a 2 year old daughter and they do not mesh. We’ve tried to teach them both how to interact but they don’t listen. We think she would do best in an environment of a single woman. She is a cuddly cat and very funny but we have to do what’s best for her, as well as our daughter.

Story
NAME: Harvey Sex: male Color/Pattern: tan tabby with white tuxedo Breed: dsh Weight: med BDAY approx: June 17 2021 Coat length: short Description Harvey is a type-A, friendly, responsive talker who runs up to you for attention. A Velcro kitty who is your shadow. Personality Harvey doesn't think there is anyone in the world who isn’t his best friend. He is so outgoing, super smart and wants to communicate. He can get frustrated if you don't understand what he wants. He would be a good candidate to be trained to use the talking buttons you see on social media. He often prefers attention from people over food. He is independent and bold, brave and affectionate. Harvey was big and muscular when he came to GNAR, but after being neutered, has slimmed down. He was very successful as an outdoor cat. Resourceful and generous with helping other cats, and sweet talking people not-so-subtly to bend to his will. He is a kitty politician. If you are a dog person, this is the cat for you. You could probably teach him tricks. He is attentive and wants you to please him : D Background Harvey and Necia were found as strays together. Outgoing Harvey showed up first outside of an industrial building where the employees started to gain his trust and feed him. Uber-friendly Harvey accepted their invitations for friendship after a short while, and soon started inviting himself inside the front door, so they decided it was probably time to look for a new home for him. After he then also brought his new girlfriend Necia to join him, everyone started worrying that there would be kittens if they didn’t do something to prevent it soon. Harvey was very protective of Necia, so they didn’t get chance to get close enough to her to see if she was also tame. Once the 2 cats started getting too bold and trying to come indoors to the office, the employee contacted GNAR to help find a home for them. So they borrowed traps, and brought them to their new foster home. Harvey continued to guard Necia, so the foster home separated them to let Necia show her true personality. Harvey also sweetened up more after he was relieved of his perceived responsibility as Necia's protector and provider. Compatibility Dogs - yes Cats - yes Kids - yes, older If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit with my foster home!

Story
NAME: Umami Sex: Male Color/Pattern: brown tabby Breed: short Hair Age at intake: 8 weeks BDAY approx: March 26, 2024 Intake date : May 14, 2024 Description Umami is a cuddly, outgoing, affectionate, very handsome kitten. Personality Umami was confident and an extrovert the day he was found. Even though he had never been held by a human before when found at 8 weeks old, he had no problem with it. He was a bit scared for the 1st few days but as soon as you picked him up he melted into a puddle of purrs. He loves to explore and has no fear. He is very curious and is oblivious that some other animals may want to eat him. He will burst out of a doorway, run right up to a large new dog, slipping through the bars of a babygate to join the pack. Umami is talented at jumping up onto a counter to get closer to you. He is a daredevil, talker and enthusiastic eater. Patience is not his forte and he will make sure you know it. Background Umami was found in front of a house all alone after a big storm in southwest Houston on Mon May 13. His momma never came back for him. His finder brought him to a foster home who had 3 bottle baby kittens of about the same age and added him to the litter of orphans. He was just old enough to already be able to lap kitten formula for himself and eat solid food. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit at my foster home or local Petsmart!

Story
When Rollo first arrived- he couldn't understand why he was where he was. He looked at his surroundings in his kennel and kept trying to hide behind his litter box. Staff gave him a blanket to curl under so he wouldn't be afraid - but Rollo was not abject to a head rub and yes ---- even a belly rub. Rollo was not interested in eating for awhile- but now he munches dry food and treats like a champ. He also loves his toys :) and loves to curl up against a teddy bear. Speaking of teddy bears- Rollo doesn't mind being picked up- snuggled- or hugged closed to the chest. He thrives off of affection- and just wants to be near you so he can do his little tumble and show you his tummy to rub- that's how he got his name fyi -because he liked to "rollover" :). P.S. Rollo is litter box trained ---and doesn't seem to want to jump on counter tops or high places. Teach him where he is welcome and where it is best he stays on the ground. He will listen and strive to make you proud. Hello there the adoption fee is $20.00 CASH OR CHECK it is low as we do not spay/neuter our animals or vaccinate as we do not have a vet on site. Upon adoption you would sign a legal contract stating that within sixty days you will get them sterilized and vaccinated per state requirement. Sometimes due to age or complications the 60 day window can be extended however only by a vets discretion. Your contract is not fulfilled and your adoption of the pet cannot be successfully closed until proof of sterilization and vaccination is provided to us from the adopter. You may come to the shelter any day of the week between 8 am and 4:30 pm, just please give us a call beforehand to let us know you are coming at 281 291 5644. Thank you!

Story
Daisy is a fun and sassy little lady! She loves pets and cuddles! She’s an adult cat so no need for training and she’s pretty easy going. She loves watching the outdoors when she’s not on siesta. I think she would be a wonderful edition to any home.
