Story
NAME: Harvey Sex: male Color/Pattern: tan tabby with white tuxedo Breed: dsh Weight: med BDAY approx: June 17 2021 Coat length: short Description Harvey is a type-A, friendly, responsive talker who runs up to you for attention. A Velcro kitty who is your shadow. Personality Harvey doesn't think there is anyone in the world who isn’t his best friend. He is so outgoing, super smart and wants to communicate. He can get frustrated if you don't understand what he wants. He would be a good candidate to be trained to use the talking buttons you see on social media. He often prefers attention from people over food. He is independent and bold, brave and affectionate. Harvey was big and muscular when he came to GNAR, but after being neutered, has slimmed down. He was very successful as an outdoor cat. Resourceful and generous with helping other cats, and sweet talking people not-so-subtly to bend to his will. He is a kitty politician. If you are a dog person, this is the cat for you. You could probably teach him tricks. He is attentive and wants you to please him : D Background Harvey and Necia were found as strays together. Outgoing Harvey showed up first outside of an industrial building where the employees started to gain his trust and feed him. Uber-friendly Harvey accepted their invitations for friendship after a short while, and soon started inviting himself inside the front door, so they decided it was probably time to look for a new home for him. After he then also brought his new girlfriend Necia to join him, everyone started worrying that there would be kittens if they didn’t do something to prevent it soon. Harvey was very protective of Necia, so they didn’t get chance to get close enough to her to see if she was also tame. Once the 2 cats started getting too bold and trying to come indoors to the office, the employee contacted GNAR to help find a home for them. So they borrowed traps, and brought them to their new foster home. Harvey continued to guard Necia, so the foster home separated them to let Necia show her true personality. Harvey also sweetened up more after he was relieved of his perceived responsibility as Necia's protector and provider. NAME: Umami Sex: Male Color/Pattern: brown tabby Breed: short Hair Age at intake: 8 weeks BDAY approx: March 26, 2024 Intake date : May 14, 2024 Description Umami is a cuddly, outgoing, affectionate, very handsome kitten. Personality Umami was confident and an extrovert the day he was found. Even though he had never been held by a human before when found at 8 weeks old, he had no problem with it. He was a bit scared for the 1st few days but as soon as you picked him up he melted into a puddle of purrs. He loves to explore and has no fear. He is very curious and is oblivious that some other animals may want to eat him. He will burst out of a doorway, run right up to a large new dog, slipping through the bars of a babygate to join the pack. Umami is talented at jumping up onto a counter to get closer to you. He is a daredevil, talker and enthusiastic eater. Patience is not his forte and he will make sure you know it. Background Umami was found in front of a house all alone after a big storm in southwest Houston on Mon May 13. His momma never came back for him. His finder brought him to a foster home who had 3 bottle baby kittens of about the same age and added him to the litter of orphans. He was just old enough to already be able to lap kitten formula for himself and eat solid food. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit at my foster home or local Petsmart!

He will snuggle up by you on the couch and sleep by your torso at night. Take Elliot home today :)

Story
Meet Hank! Adoption Application: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROSE/Cat Hank is a handsome black kitten with the cutest little splash of white on his belly. His personality stands out like he does! The moment you pet him, his purr motor switches on instantly and doesn't quit. he absolutely adores attention and soaks up every bit of affection you're willing to give him. Gently, cuddly, and full of warmth, Hank has that special way of making you feel chosen. Whether he's curled up beside you for a cozy nap or leaning into your hand for more pets, Hank's favorite place is right where the love is. If you're looking for a soft-hearted sweetheart with a tiny white patch and a whole lot of love to give, Hank is ready to meet you. Hank is ~4 months old, neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and in great health. He does a great job of keeping his litterbox tidy. All he needs now is his forever home! We believe slow introductions to a calm, cat-savvy pup, we think he could learn to love a new dog friend. Hank would thrive if adopted with one of his foster siblings. Priority will be given to applicants interested in adopting a pair of kittens or who have patient, playful resident cats or dogs at home. Information on why adopting two kittens together is best for their short- and long-term health and behavior can be found here: http://www.kittenlady.org/twokittens The adoption application can be found here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROSE/Cat Hank is currently in Houston, Texas but can be transported to the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, or locations along their route. --- ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEES: Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and transportation costs. Also, when you adopt from ROSES Rescues, you’re doing more than giving your new family member a home. Each adoption fee sponsors a cat on the streets of Houston to get fixed, helping end the cycle of overpopulation in a rough environment. We thank you so much for your contribution to our efforts! Story
Meet Jenga – my “class clown” sweet little lady who is finally ready for her forever home! TOO LONG, DIDN’T READ - SUMMARY: * Adoption Application: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROSE/Cat * Our rescue is located in Houston, TX, and we transport our babies to wonderful adopters in the Northeast, Pacific Northwest, and Colorado (on occasion). Transport cost is included in the adoption fee. * Jenga will be shy at first in her new home and needs an adopter who will be patient with her while she adjusts. * Adoption fee (adult 1.5+ years) is $315 I had the pleasure of finding and raising Miss Jenga for the last year and a half, helping her go from a scared little kitten to a confident and beautiful cat. And BOY is she beautiful — a chunky little Tabico / Calico with cheek smudges who always looks like she’s smiling! Perfection! For the first year we were together, Jenga had no interest in being my friend. Don’t get me wrong, she was loving her life indoors… I caught her on camera every day bouncing around with her foster kitten buddies and chowing down on all the food she could possibly want. She just wasn’t ready to trust humans, and with that cute little face, I didn’t mind waiting around for her ;) About a year into our time together, Jenga finally made notable progress. She started getting excited to see me when I walked in the room! She darted up to a high shelf where she felt safe, stretched, rolled around, and even accepted some pets from me in exchange for treats. Since that day, Jenga has continued to become a confident, sweet, and friendly little kitty. She is without a doubt the queen of the foster cats, and they all follow her lead. She has also become a bit of a class clown!! She is shamelessly in love with Churu treats and will tap on my hand until she gets one (I put that video in her adoption profile - it’s pretty cute). She loves hanging out on her window perch, leaning over and staring down at me with her arms hanging over the side like a cute little dork. She also demands pets as soon as I walk in the room. It was bittersweet to realize that Jenga was finally ready for adoption because I love her to pieces. But after all her hard work learning to trust, Jenga deserves a family of her own who can give her all the love and attention she could ever want… not my loving foster home where she has to share that attention with 10 other kitties. I can’t wait to find her perfect family! If (and only if) you are considering opening your home to two cats, Jenga has a best friend named Aspen (a petite orange gal) who needs an understanding adopter willing to help bring her out of her shell. Adopting Aspen is NOT a condition for adopting Jenga, because Jenga deserves her happily ever after regardless. Just worth mentioning :) — Jenga has lived with multiple cats her whole life and would do very well if adopted with a buddy or into a home with a friendly resident cat. She has never met a dog before, but with proper introductions she may do well with a very calm and cat-savvy dog. Her ideal home would be a relatively calm environment with no children (or older / respectful children who understand the importance of giving a kitty her space.) She will thrive with experienced cat owners who will be patient while she gets used to her new surroundings. Once she does, she will return that love and patience tenfold! Jenga is approximately 2 years old, spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. She does a great job of keeping her litterbox tidy.

The adoption application can be found here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROSE/Cat

Jenga is currently in Houston, Texas but can be transported to the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest, or locations along these routes.

Story
Meet Gideon! Adoption Application: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ROSE/Cat Gideon is a truly special boy with the softest heart. He came from a severe hoarding situation where he was in a RV with 20+ cats. Gideon has spent his entire early life confined to a cage, and because of that, the world is still very new to him. Despite his difficult start, Gideon is exceptionally sweet and kind-he just needs a a little extra patience as he learns that he's finally safe. He's looking for a calm, loving home with a patient adopter who will give him the time he needs to feel comfortable. Once Gideon begins to trust, you'll see his gentle curiosity shine as he starts to roam, explore, and enjoy the freedom he's never had before. If you believe in second chances and have room in your heart for a shy but incredibly sweet boy, Gideon is waiting to meet you! Gideon is ~3 year old, neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and in great health! He does a great job of keeping his litter box tidy! All he needs now is his forever home! Gideon has never met a dog before, but we believe with a calm pup and a slow introduction that he could be best friends.
