Story

Finley is a sweet little cuddle bug who loves his people but also has an independent side and therefore needs an experienced adopter who is ready to work with him. Like a cat, Finley loves to curl up in your lap on his schedule. He's more interested in napping under your chair than playing with his toys. Finley has great recall (in a secure yard) and will always respond to his name when you call him. Finley is friendly with other dogs, but prefers his home free of strange intruders (ie: the plumber). He will get grouchy if you try to groom him, so all grooming will need to be handled by a professional. Finley has been returned due to having a bite history and multiple incidents of biting his most recent adopter. He has had behavioral intervention and will need a new adopter who can continue to work with him on this training. His bites are seemingly random, so we are working on identifying possible triggers. Ultimately, he would do best in a home with a single person who can watch for these triggers and work through them. He regularly visits doggy day care and is great with the other dogs. Meet Saesang!  He is a 1 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Saesang and some of his friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app September 27, 2023, 6:48 pm

The goofy grin. The absolutely bonkers what-is-happening-here tongue. We're not entirely sure what this strange creature is, but we do know that she's spectacular. Beatrix brings a sort of diva energy to the show that we swear she must have gotten from watching old Mariah Carey clips on YouTube. Real "all eyes on me" vibe. She's decided that she's too fabulous to share the spotlight, and wants to be the only being you'll be willing to worship. That means no-thank-you-please to kids, cats, or other dogs. Going all in on the queen behavior, Beatrix takes her meals while sitting primly upright in a high chair. Okay sure it's medically necessary, but it's also absolutely royal behavior. And is there anything more ridiculously charming than a lil frenchie in a high chair? No seriously, if you know of something, please share. Orson is a happy go-lucky, sweetheart of a pup. He came to us a stray and we think he is around 2 years old. He seems to be a hypoallergenic mix of sorts- possibly Lhasa Apso x mini poodle x terrier. His dark grey spots are very unique! Orson gets along great with his terrier foster brother and they like to lounge in the sun together. He is his foster's little shadow, following her around everywhere in the house. Orson is friendly, snuggly, walks well on a leash, and is potty trained. He likes to sit on his foster’s lap while she works, loves a warm cuddle on the couch for movie night, and is also down for a playful romp in the yard. Orson is basically the perfect pup! We are so excited to find him his forever home.
