Meet Gus McCrae!! Gus is a very sweet and affectionate little guy who just wants a person he can shower with love. Sadly, Gus was found wandering as a stray in a Los Angeles neighborhood. He had no collar or microchip, so a good Samaritan took him in and reached out to Shelter Hope for help. After a much-needed dental and having several teeth removed, Gus is feeling so much better and is ready to enjoy life! Gus is very friendly and does well with other dogs, but he really prefers his people and loves one-on-one companionship. He is cuddly, affectionate, loves to be held, and especially enjoys going out for walks with his favorite person. He is a very spry little guy with a goofy smile and a big personality, and he can't wait to start his next chapter with a forever family who will give him all the love and companionship he deserves. ---- Looking to Adopt? No one could tell where this dog would have ended up. Thanks to the rescuers in S. Korea, this pup is longer in danger of getting trapped in dog meat trade! DoVE Project has rescue partners in S. Korea who have their own private shelter and/or foster network. Our dogs stay with either a foster family or a private shelter until they are matched with an adopter in the US. Upon arrival in the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. *Meet Memo! 🐾* Memo is an 8-10 year old Toy Poodle (found 7/5/26, not neutered / no chip, no owner came forward) and he is the sweetest, quietest little soul. He spends most of his day sleeping and resting, gets along great with other dogs, and just wants a calm corner to call his own. About two weeks after he was found he started having seizures — he's been seen by a vet and is now on medication. Because of that, he doesn't tolerate being touched or petted right now and will growl or air-snap (he has very few teeth) to ask for space, so it's best to let him set the boundaries. He still does great on walks with a leash. Memo isn't looking for a cuddler, he's looking for a patient, understanding person who will give him time, quiet, and safety on his own terms. Is a total lap dog who loves asking for pets and sitting on warm laps. * With Dogs: Hasn't met other dog friends yet. * With Cats: Hasn't met any cats yet. * Separation Anxiety: Shows minimal separation anxiety. When left alone at home, he may howl briefly, but quickly settles inside his kennel to rest comfortably within 3 to 5 minutes. * Potty Training: Uses indoor potty pads. Shows a 70% success rate for pee, occasionally making potty accidents on cushions or mats when overly excited during playtime. Poop has been 100% successful after just a couple of early mistakes. * Hygiene: Doesn't love it, but tolerates it very patiently. * Walks: Has no walking experience yet as he is waiting for his vaccinations. * Car Sickness: Rides very well without motion sickness—usually falls asleep within 5 minutes. * Has never shown any biting behavior. * Doesn't bark. Plushy is a 7-year-old Poodle/Maltese mix who may need a little time to show you just how special he is. Once he warms up and learns that he can trust you, Plushy becomes a true velcro dog who loves being near his person.His foster mom says Plushy is housebroken and enjoys the simple things in life—lounging comfortably in his bed, relaxing around the house, and enjoying some quiet time with his favorite people. He likes going for short walks, but for longer outings, Plushy would much rather ride in a stroller and take in the world from the comfort of his own little seat. He also loves squeaky toys and, of course, treats!Plushy has had some health issues that were addressed by our shelter veterinarian. He does have a recurring yeast infection in one of his ears, which clears with medication, and he will need to continue Optimmune eye drops for life. His medications will need to be given regularly, which can be challenging because Plushy is sensitive about being touched on his belly, back end, and ears, so he needs a special person who is in tune to his moods. Because Plushy can become mouthy when he is nervous or anxious, he is looking for an experienced adopter and an adult-only home with no small children.
