Story
Sassy and Spunky Senior...That's our Coco! This little lady is Coco and she is a 12 year old, 9lb, Toy Poodle. She came to us when her owner passed away and the adult children did not want her. In fact, before the other children could reach out to rescues, the son took Coco to the shelter and dumped her. The daughter pulled her out, contacted us, and asked if we could take her in. We said yes! She was in terrible condition when we got her. She had double ear infections, was matted, and needed a dental. We had everything taken care of and would love for her to be in a loving home where she can enjoy her golden years! Coco has the typical, small breed medical issues. She has a slight trachea issue, small heart murmur (no meds needed at this time), and is starting to have slight eye sight impairment We did have a full dental done on her along with an echocardiogram. Please note that she cannot go on walks at all. She gets too stirred up and will start coughing and with her trachea, a walk will cause a coughing fit. Don't let this deter you because she is very happy just being at home with you. The perfect home for her would be with someone "early" retired who is home most of the day and does not care about taking a dog on a walk. She does need a yard so she can go potty. We also need an adult only home with someone who understands that with her sight issues and just being an older dog, she needs to be picked up slowly otherwise she gets startled. Coco is not needy, but she does love to hang out on the couch and not in a dog bed. She does need and require a dog ramp for the couch and bed where she will definitely want to be at night with you. Coco doesn't really need another dog in the home, but if there is, it should be a calm, older dog. She doesn't do well with young, high energy dogs. A patient, kind, and loving home is exactly what this sweet senior needs. Coco is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Please note that we only adopt in the Greater LA areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

Story
H! My name is Tommy, and I am currently IN SOUTH KOREA living with a loving foster awaiting to be matched to a home in Southern California! A Lover Boy? Yes, that's who I am. I crave giving love and receiving love from humans. I will always be by your side, on your side, and be your sidesick! I love to cuddle and chill. Once you lay your gentle eyes on me, you will see my tail wag and I will want to be held in your arms. I will not let go of you... We will be best friends forever. My hair had to be shaven off because I was terribly matted when I was rescued. LA AUTO SHOW 2025 (November, 2025) I plan on being at LA Auto Show this year at DoVE Project's booth. If you want to meet me in person, please email info@dove-project for more details regarding the days and hours of DoVE Project's booth. See you then!!! FOR LIMITED TIME ONLY FROM NOW THROUGH NOVEMBER 30TH, TOMMY'S ADOPTION FEE IS REDUCED TO $600. ********************************* This dog was rescued in S. Korea from an abusive situation. Although S. Korea's new law banning the dog meat consumption is set to go into effect February 2027, and the consumption is all time low, the practice is still in common existence amongst elderly population especially in the rural countryside. No one could tell where this dog would have ended up. Thanks to the rescuers in S. Korea, this pup is longer in danger of getting trapped in dog meat trade! DoVE Project has rescue partners in S. Korea who have their own private shelter and/or foster network. Our dogs stay with either a foster family or a private shelter until they are matched with an adopter in the US. Upon arrival in the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and our adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form

Story
Rachel is a loving, loyal, and playful girl who’s ready to find her forever home. After being hit by a car and left at a local LA shelter to be euthanized, her story could have ended there—but we stepped in just in time. She underwent double leg surgery and is now fully healed, moving around with strength and joy. Despite everything she’s been through, Rachel’s spirit is as sweet and joyful as ever. She’s a total people dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side—your shadow, your snuggle buddy, your constant companion. She thrives in a home where someone is around often and would love to be the center of your world. While she’s friendly with other dogs, Rachel is truly human-oriented and will bond deeply with her person. Because of her past injuries, she’d do best in a home with no or minimal stairs to keep her active life comfortable and safe. Rachel has so much love to give and is ready to share it with a family who will treasure her. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to fill your home with affection, playfulness, and devotion, Rachel is your girl.

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET STEFFIE….an adorable, happy, 7 yr old, tan/black, 15 lb, Lhasa Apso mix, who unfortunately found herself homeless when her senior owner could no longer care for her. She was so matted that the groomer needed to shave her 🙁 Owner reported she continuously tried to escape, but she has been very happy here and she stays put. One thing she does like to do is roll the window down while you are driving. She did this in her previous home and ended up jumping out of the car and injuring herself. She is fully recovered — but make sure you have locks on your car windows! Steffie is a character. Her original name was Cheff — but since she doesn’t cook, we changed it! She has a big personality and is extremely playful, loving, kissy and attentive. She loves toys and to fetch (even sometimes brings it back to you) — and kissing is her other favorite pastime! If you don’t want a dog to snuggle up in your bed, Steffie would not be the right girl for you. She likes to be on high places, be the boss of the house and be a happy girl. She will bark if she hears noises (like on the TV) and wants to protect the house! She is OK with other dogs but is possessive of her person, so we believe she would be best as an only dog. On walks (which she LOVES), she can also be protective but when approached slowly, she likes to meet and greet everyone on the street. Her potty training is pretty good — but no guarantees at your house. All in all, Steffie is a girl who would be happy as your one and only — but doesn’t love being left alone. A household where her parents work from home and include her in activities woud be ideal. Older kids (10+) who enjoy a playful dog would be fantastic. This girl just wants to have fun…how about you? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET THIS FABULOUS DUO…..and you will fall in love. (respectively) Caitlyn and Cameron are 18/22 lbs, both 2 yrs old, tan/black Lhasa/Shih Tzu and Lhasa X — likely litter mates. When we get dogs like these two, it reminds me why I fell in love with the breed. Not only are they gorgeous, but they are so smart and have so much personality! We were called and told that a Good Samaritan found them huddled in an alley together and was taking them to the Orange County Shelter to locate their owners. Yes, they were a mess. No they didn’t walk on a leash until they came to us, but they are so loving and happy, we are thrilled that they are here. It was difficult getting individual pictures of them because they are always together, on top of each other and/or playing. They even do their business in unison!! They love to cuddle with each other and you — they give lots of kisses and just reek of puppy love! Initially, they were very fearful and reluctant to meet anyone, but not an ounce of aggression. It takes a minute for them to warm up, but it is so understandable. They have only been here a short time and they are already overwhelming their foster with affection and love. As every day passes, they get more and more rambunctious. Definitely need an active family to love these two to life. The ideal home for Caitlyn and Cameron would be one where there are kids over 8 yrs, a yard and dog parents who are able to spend time and train them. They seem to be potty trained, but no guarantees at your house. They have been extremely quiet, but they just recently arrived. They are learning what toys are…all the writer of their profile can say is they are VERY SPECIAL and will only go home together, so please don’t ask us to split them up. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET BRONCO…. This handsome, 15 lb, tricolored, 3 year old Lhasa/Shih Tzu/Poodle is a wonderful combination of sweetness and opinions! We are working with 4 Paws Kiddo Rescue to make sure he gets the ideal home. Bronco was dumped in the shelter after a bite incident in his former home. We don’t know how this happened, but we know that he doesn’t like being heavy handled. Since this incident, we have opted to take Bronco to training to desensitize any negative behavior. He was evaluated and has fear aggression with strangers. Once he respects you, he is a wonderful dog. As you can tell by the video, Bronco can be a very loving, happy dog. He just needs to respect you as his leader. He should go to a home without kids and a savvy/experienced family who have dealt with “opinionated” dogs. I can say that he is a wonderful dog and very loving and obedient once he knows the rules! Bronco needs a home that will give him parameters and love him to life. With guidance (and he comes with a trainer) he will be that dog you are looking for. Plays like a maniac with toys and even fetches … follows you everywhere and will prove you’re a good cook! He eats like it’s the first time he’s seen food — blink, it’s gone! Before training, he pulled on the leash and was easily distracted by buses and trucks on the street. He has learned how to be a gentleman on walks!! If you scold him, he will give you side eye for a moment and wait to hear “ok, now good boy” and he’s over it. Bronco sits quietly while you work (or squeaking a toy to remind you he is there)! If you are not at home and you are in an apartment/condo, he will bark voraciously when anyone walks by, but then he is quiet again. He also responds to “leave it” and will be quiet. He does NOT have separation anxiety and gets along great with other dogs once introduced To keep him healthy — Bronco really needs a 2 mile walk daily or exercised to get his playfulness in check! Bronco could be an only dog if his people work from home and he isn’t alone much. His potty training skills are good — but no guarantees. All in all…Bronco is a stallion! We love him and will only let him go to the perfect, experienced home — for him and for you!! Interested? He’s the best. Bronco will not be attending our adoption events; he can be seen by appointment only by approved applicants. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria.
